My son had been anticipating putting these lights up to encompass his room at the top where the wall and ceiling conjoin. It one one of his birthday gifts back in October and one he had been anticipating very much. It seemed like it would be so easy to just open and get them strung up and then enjoy. So once we got the free time we opened the box, which was NOT the original packing shown in the picture. It came in a regular brown cardboard box with little markings as to what it was or the specifications. Opened the box and it contained two foil packages with the lights on a wheel, the thick long black power cord/adapter, remote and a small white transmitter that had three flexible short cords extending out from it. Still a bit shocked over the packaging and thinking I don’t remember it looking like this, is when I realized I had not ran across any instructions. I looked again, nothing. We basically had to reread the sale listing on here to get any kind of guidance on how it all worked. My husband and I spent an afternoon getting the room ready to hang the strands. Cleaning and wiping the wall as as it states to improve the longevity of the adhesive strip. In doing this we realized the obvious fact that if you are hanging them from up top, like a ceiling, light fixtures, top of the walls, there is this thing called gravitational pull. And these thin cords are attached to not one but two power type devises. And that cord has to then extend all the way down the wall, dangling in plain sight to the power outlet at the bottom of the wall. And it’s heavy and more than enough weight to rip the strips right off the wall. You will need to keep this in mind for installation and come up with some kind of platform to sit it on so it bares the weight. After figuring this all out we made our way around the room scooting the ladder inch by inch. They were nowhere near long enough to complete the room, even though we measured, twice. Even though a bit annoyed, I just planned on ordering another strand to finish it out. He played with the settings and got it where he wanted it and about an hour later they started to unstick from the walls and fall off. My the next morning both stands had completely fallen off the wall. And barely has any tacky texture left and they lay draped over his bunk bed steps ... show more

My daughter has had these lights for almost 4 months. She loved them. Well tonight she heard a pop and saw smoke!!! The power adapter caught fire!!!!! Thank God we were home at the time and it wasn’t in the middle of the night

My wife and daughter purchased this for my daughter's room. By the time I got pushed to put them up the return window had closed. I quickly realized I needed another set to do the perimeter of her room, so before buying a second set I read the reviews and ratings, which were lower than other similar products. Since there were mixed reviews on adhesion I decided to put the 1st set up and see how it adhered before buying a 2nd set. The 1st set had a nice thin spongy strip on the backside that went up easily. After a few days and no issues I decided to go ahead and buy a second set. While the lights and controller with the 2nd set were the same, the adhesion material on the back of the lights was not. The 2nd set had what was basically double sided tape. It went up just as easily but began falling down after a couple of days. It's been put back up several times now and we had to take additional measures to get them to stay up. Meanwhile the first set has stayed perfectly in place. This might explain why some people say they stay up great and others not. A couple of other things. The instructions that came with the controller are practically useless. Still haven't figured out how to make it coordinate with music. Also, if you connect 2 sets serially the 2nd half of the second set starts to dim a bit. I didn't really notice until I put up the 2nd set which I cut a little bit short to finish the perimeter, If I had realized ahead of time I would have cut them both short to the same length so they matched up a little better without dimming. ... show more

I really like this LED strip. It has a lot of color options and is cool to watch it transition between all the colors. The brightness control means you can use it for low level atmosphere setting in maybe a room or you can turn it bright and put it on an RC aircraft for night flying. It runs on 12vdc so a 3s LiPo battery would power it. It comes with a 110vac adapter to run off your house power also. The remote control has a lot of cool options for selecting color, fading between colors, or blinking. Overall I really like this and I might get more for my RC planes. The only downside I saw was the cable that plugs into the controller could be plugged in backwards. Be sure you plug it in the correct way. ... show more

    • Directions need to be better. Especially when hanging multiple strips up

Poor directions. I had one strip given to my daughter as a bday gift. So we bought a second one. They don’t give clear directions especially when doing multiple strips. There’s a specific way to hang the second one and one End of the strip must be where it left off. It’s not just connect and go. So I have to rip off the second strip which loses the double sided tape. I have to re-adhere to the wall and all will be well. Wish I knew that before hanging it up. Wasn’t clear ... show more
