This is my second set of these. I had the first set for several years and used them throughout the fall and winter into the spring daily during that time. They recharge quickly, and will also light up while they are being charged. The flickering light really does have a realistic feel when you see it out of the corner of your eye. We don’t use our gas fireplace so I set these behind a log and it gives the atmosphere of a fire. It’s good for dreary days when you need some coziness. The only negative I can think of is that plugging and unplugging caused the charging port on one of my original set to give out and make it unusable. The ambience definitely comes from two or more so I bought the new set. When these give out eventually, I will buy them again! ... show more

These lights are really cool. We need to have our wood fireplace cleaned and inspected. BUT with the current economy, I don't have an extra $350+ for that service. Our new rental came with a gas fire place but it does not work, and requires more money than I am willing to spend, as a renter, to fix it. So I went searching for a quick fix and came across these and so far they are working great. I've attached a picture. It's not the best example because it was still light out but at night it gives off a nice subtitle glow. I think I will purchase more to amp up the "fire glow". The only negative is, that the glass impedes the signal from the remote to the lantern. So much so that I had to position the lanterns a certain way that I can turn them off with the remote. Sometimes I have to press the on/off button a couple of times before it connects. If you don't have glass I'm sure they would work just fine. ... show more

I set the timer and enjoy the gentle flicker of the warm amber light as I drift to sleep. I also take these on vacation with me. They are super easy to pack.
