Well, let's get into waist deep water with rats, let's get past the floor covered in snakes, and let's not forget the Fedora hat and whip! This journal evokes adventures in far away lands with unknown unknowns lurking around each bend. What a wonderful product! The strap wraps around several times and it sort of just hangs there like a tie tied too long & pushed into your pants. There's a pen, but not just any pen...it has a leather wrapped body and you twist to push the ball point out to write about your latest find. But this pen had a "'X Patterned Stitching" which holds it together. An "X" to remind you to clearly write a map onto the unlined and slightly manila/sand colored paper...the route to where "X marks the spot". There also is a leather page marker that is securely fastened to not fall out even when swinging from vines or jumping out of a truck (just before the truck falls into the gorge). Each of the five booklets of 15 sheets of paper are fastened to the simple dark brown real leather binder with four holes bound with two shoelaces connecting it to the external dark brown binder holding each of the five manuscripts securely in place. The pen has its own leather holder which would never allow it to fall out even if upside down...but I wish the holder was slightly (1/4 inch) closer to the paper because it takes two moves to adjust and align the leather binder before wrapping it's long tail around the body twice. But heck, that's character! I like this a lot. And so will you. Buy it. And go out and make your own adventurous tale!

From the sheer number of glowing reviews this journal has received, I thought there must be something going on. But it looked like the best option I was going to find, so I ordered one. Turns out, I was right – what's going on is that it really is that good. I didn't think that I'd find something this nice for such a low cost, but, well, here we are. I'll try to be brief, as there's so many reviews already gushing about every aspect of the journal. Plus there's no way I can come close to writing something as touching as the grandparent who bought this as a travel journal to leave for their grandkids to follow. The packaging is nice. I bought it for myself, but it does come in a nice gift pack, all wrapped in plastic and cardboard. I especially liked that it had a piece of card stock wrapped around the outside edge of the pages to protect them during shipping. The journal smelled a bit like cardboard when I unpacked it, but that's gone away after a couple days and now it just smells like leather. The journal itself is very charming, and the craftsmanship is very good. Whoever designed and assembled this clearly knew what they were doing. One thing that caught my eye is the design of the leather strap that wraps around the cover – it's stitched in such a way that the stitches are not visible from the cover. The pen loop is a nice touch too. The pen that came with the journal is just okay, but I'm certainly not going to complain considering the price. Overall I'm very happy with this. I wanted something that looked hand-crafted, like an explorer's journal or witch's spellbook, and that's exactly what I got. Couple that with a very reasonable price for the quality, and I'm a happy customer. I'll definitely be buying another when this one is full.

I looked at several other versions of the "Traveler" style notebooks, and based on reviews left by others decided to go with this particular one. First off, no notebook in this style is ever going to satisfy every expectation or check all the boxes, so it's a matter of settling for the one that most closely matches what you're planning to use a journal like this for. For me, this is as close to perfect as it gets! The paper is a good balance between weight and providing a sufficient amount of pages that won't have you running out any time soon. The leather is very good quality; soft to the touch, but thick enough to last for years. There's enough to expand to accommodate all the additional notes, sketches and whatever else you may secret away inside! I added a 6" brass ruler to my purchase for drawing, and also to provide a guide for writing if you prefer straight lines. There's something about a journal like this that takes me away to a different time when people communicated by writing.... I see it sitting on the desk, and I just want to pick it up and write in it, or sketch out metal art or fabrication designs.... From my mind through a pencil to the page.... It's simple, elegant, and unfiltered! Now stop reading, order this travel journal, and watch the post with great anticipation! This simply bound collection of paper sheaths will spark your imagination and soon it will be like an old friend!

This is a gift for my husband’s birthday. I opened the package so that I could write an inscription. I think he will be just as delighted as I am at the unique quality and feel. I found an old journal of my husband when I was rearranging our library. Finding the old journal inspired me to buy this notebook in hopes he would start writing again. The leather smells rich, the book is supple and feels warm to the touch. The bindings are absolutely unique and I’m hoping “inspiring”. My husband is a child of God and he has the gift of a word smith, I pray our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren take the time to read, believe, and be in riches.
