From the sheer number of glowing reviews this journal has received, I thought there must be something going on. But it looked like the best option I was going to find, so I ordered one. Turns out, I was right – what's going on is that it really is that good. I didn't think that I'd find something this nice for such a low cost, but, well, here we are. I'll try to be brief, as there's so many reviews already gushing about every aspect of the journal. Plus there's no way I can come close to writing something as touching as the grandparent who bought this as a travel journal to leave for their grandkids to follow. The packaging is nice. I bought it for myself, but it does come in a nice gift pack, all wrapped in plastic and cardboard. I especially liked that it had a piece of card stock wrapped around the outside edge of the pages to protect them during shipping. The journal smelled a bit like cardboard when I unpacked it, but that's gone away after a couple days and now it just smells like leather. The journal itself is very charming, and the craftsmanship is very good. Whoever designed and assembled this clearly knew what they were doing. One thing that caught my eye is the design of the leather strap that wraps around the cover – it's stitched in such a way that the stitches are not visible from the cover. The pen loop is a nice touch too. The pen that came with the journal is just okay, but I'm certainly not going to complain considering the price. Overall I'm very happy with this. I wanted something that looked hand-crafted, like an explorer's journal or witch's spellbook, and that's exactly what I got. Couple that with a very reasonable price for the quality, and I'm a happy customer. I'll definitely be buying another when this one is full.

I looked at several other versions of the "Traveler" style notebooks, and based on reviews left by others decided to go with this particular one. First off, no notebook in this style is ever going to satisfy every expectation or check all the boxes, so it's a matter of settling for the one that most closely matches what you're planning to use a journal like this for. For me, this is as close to perfect as it gets! The paper is a good balance between weight and providing a sufficient amount of pages that won't have you running out any time soon. The leather is very good quality; soft to the touch, but thick enough to last for years. There's enough to expand to accommodate all the additional notes, sketches and whatever else you may secret away inside! I added a 6" brass ruler to my purchase for drawing, and also to provide a guide for writing if you prefer straight lines. There's something about a journal like this that takes me away to a different time when people communicated by writing.... I see it sitting on the desk, and I just want to pick it up and write in it, or sketch out metal art or fabrication designs.... From my mind through a pencil to the page.... It's simple, elegant, and unfiltered! Now stop reading, order this travel journal, and watch the post with great anticipation! This simply bound collection of paper sheaths will spark your imagination and soon it will be like an old friend!

Absolutely stunning!! You never know what you’re going to get on an item like this on Amazon. This is perfect. Gorgeous. Reminds me of Indiana Jones. Nice thick leather, beautiful craftsmanship, the right paper, I’m really glad I picked it. The other reviews were correct. I’m not posting a picture because as you handle it, it scratches VERY easily. Giving to son as Christmas gift. Don’t want to mess it up. He’s an amazing story writer. Hope this helps inspire. I think we will condition it after he opens it to cut down on scratching and make leather even darker. It’s not too light however without. And some may like that it scratches. Adds to look and feel. I think you’ll be pleased with this purchase if you choose.

I am really super picky about my journals, and I've been looking for a good quality with genuine leather that was small and tough enough for me to carry a round, but wouldn't break the bank for a couple years now. Honestly I was a little worried when I ordered this because it was so cheap, but it is the same quality as a journal ten times its price in my opinion. I fill journals very quickly, and I will definitely be a return customer! Quick note: The one I purchased was the one with the hidden pen holder, and I bought that version primarily because I like to glue things into my journals (letters, pictures etc) and it had extra room on the binding. If you only use a journal for writing, you may want to buy their other version, I'm sure it is just as high quality. That is just my personal opinion Also, I don't know why some people are complaining about the pen. It's beautiful, well made, and it writes very fluidly even when you write really fast the way I do.
