The French Press is one of the easiest methods to make great tasting coffee at home. Coarsely ground coffee beans or loose tea leaves are steeped in boiling water, and then filtered away by plunging the mesh sieve through the press. Crafted from premium stoneware for excellent heat retention, the Le Creuset French Press is finished with a vibrant glaze which is easy to clean, dishwasher-safe, and resistant to chips, scratches and stains.

  • Seems good so far (but should for the price)
Color: Cerise
Seems solidly built, looks really classy. Le Creuset has a good reputation for durability, but I’ve only had it a week so I can’t judge. I like the coffee I’ve made in it, but I’m no coffee sommelier. My only complaint is that the plunger doesn’t go all the way to the bottom, stopping about 1/2 to 5/8 inch up I’m guessing. If you were making a full carafe, there’d probably be enough grounds in there that the plunger would make it. But I’m just brewing a cup or two for myself, and the gap leaves a lot of nice strong coffee down there with the grounds - probably a 25 or 30 percent of the water, given the small quantity I’m making at a time. But the knob on the top screws off easily, so I do that, and remove the lid, and put the “press” firmly in French Press (did I mention I like strong coffee?) and get the last bit out. The screen seal is pretty good, so even when I do this, I don’t get too many grounds thru. On that note, being a screen, this plunger is designed for coarse grounds. When I have finer grounds, i place a small paper basket filter over the top of the carafe before I put the plunger in. It wraps around the plunger nicely and does a great job even when I’m doing the “mash it down all the way trick”. I think way this press’ plunger seals with a steel spring and symmetrical plunger is key to this working properly. The plastic and silicon plunger seals on cheaper devices would stick and skip if you did this, and make mess of it, and probably deform over time, too. ... show more

  • Overall a great device
Color: Oyster
This is a great French press. Solid, attractive and for the most par works well. There are only two things I would change. 1. The insert has a tendency to loosen up over time and you have to tighten the threaded rod where it goes into the screen at the end. 2. It doesn't fully filter out all the coffee grains. Wife and I pour the coffee out through a screen filter and it catches the particles preventing them from ending up in the mug. It would be nice if the filter worked better. Other than that I love it. ... show more

  • Great French press - but fragile
Color: Licorice
Have had metal, glass & ceramic French presses (3 of these) and it makes wonderful coffee. Well made and easy to clean, but have broken all three through chips and cracks from banging in sink. We try to be gentle but stuff just happens and another one in the trash.

  • Great French press but doesn’t quite keep hot as long as expected
Color: Meringue
Wonderful French press. I love the color and the material it is made out of. It can handle boiling water compared to other French presses that cannot.

  • Love this!
Color: White
I don't know why but coffee made in this tastes much better than coffee made in my smaller metal press. I don't know whether that's from the different material (ceramic vs stainless steel), the different size (basically 3 mugs vs. 1 mug), or the fact that this one cost six times what the other did - so it had better taste good!! :) I'm very happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Coffee Goldilocks Snob is happy
Color: White
Excellent, beautiful option if you're tired of breaking glass beakers, and especially if you are sensitive to metallic taste. I did tons of research, avoiding plastic touching coffee, etc. This is the only ceramic FP I could find that checked all the boxes, so it's worth the price. Typical Le Cruset quality standards. Look, coffee is the last vice I have...so I do it right, by golly. Use good coffee with FP/coarse grind and you'll be a convert too. After trying several brands, I use Starbucks French Roast as my daily house brand (Starbucks was the most forgiving if you are lax about brew times. Others were great, but would easily turn bitter if left a tiny bit too long.) I use a Breville burr grinder and a FP or Aeropress. My IT guy loves it when I have a problem and he can come in the morning and get a real cup of coffee. It's important to keep your IT guy happy. If you won't do it for yourself, do it for him. FPs CAN SO BE EASY TO CLEAN! First off, if you use FP/coarse grind coffee you will have no problems with grounds in your cup or your drains. To clean, run a strong water stream from the faucet to rinse the filters over the FP so grounds go in press, not down drain. Then continue the stream into the grounds "puck", and dump them into a fine mesh strainer. Blast the puck again till it's all in the strainer (Usually just twice.) Then dump strainer in the garbage. That's all I do on a daily basis, then put it all in the dishwasher every time I run it. You deserve good coffee...its right there in the Declaration of Independence: "All people are created equal, and have a right to life, liberty and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS" (history major.) If you aren't going to use good coffee and grind it right, stick with a Cuisinart drip maker till you can manage the rest. (Hot tip from my drip days: try Cafe Bustello cuban coffee. If it's too strong for you, use 1/2 the normal amount for American coffee. Good taste at unbeatable price.) ... show more

  • Love my new coffee press!
Color: Marseille
Love my new coffee press. So nice to have one that matches my kitchen. Wish they made a larger size, but I can get 2.5 cups from it. Only thing I have to get used to, is not being able to see how much coffee is left in it, like you can with the glass ones. There is a bit of weight to it, so not as easy to feel by weight how full it is. Don't over fill with water or when you press down coffee comes out the spout. I bought it in blended shades of Blue. Also bought one in green for my Mom. ... show more
