This fixture puts out good light. However, it was not designed for the American market. First off, the mounting bracket is not big enough for a standard 3.5 inch junction box. I had to modify the bracket for the junction box as well as install braces to allow the bracket to fix against the ceiling. The ceiling is a floating ceiling over the existing ceiling that requires a gap between the junction box and ceiling panels. This gap proved to be too wide for the bracket and a modified brace had to be installed. Most older fixtures would lay flat on the ceiling but this fixture is only held by the bracket. The instructions show the bracket attacked directly to the ceiling with the wires coming out of a small hole drilled through the ceiling. This would require the junction box to be under the ceiling panels (or sheetrock) which in my opinion is a fire hazard. Also, I noticed the bracket would need spacers to allow the fixture to be flush with the ceiling as illustrated in the instructions. A perfectly flat ceiling might work and be a nice tight fit but any texturing or irregularities will not allow the bracket to install in the fixture. The instructions state that the bracket for this model can be used on a 6.35cm/2.57in junction box, not standard in the U.S. Amazon description does not state this issue. (Correction, found the junction box size in the package list section) The instructions state to drill a hole in the ceiling (I assume for in construction or new installation) for the wires to pass through, which is not to code. Another issue that was brought up in the question section asked if the unit has a UL certification. No markings or any indications show the product was tested by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory approved by OSHA. Wiring is straight forward but for one issue. The housing and connector used appears to be designed for a smaller gauge wire then used in normal house wiring. I would suggest to the manufacturer to include a short piece of cabling (2 wire cable appropriate to the connector) that can be attached to the existing house wiring with standard wire nuts. The cable should be long enough to run from the junction box to the light assembly and will feed through the housing opening. Using the existing 14 gauge wire appears to be too much for the connectors and the opening through the housing. Because of the difficulties to install this product and the modifications required, I will not be using this product for the other fixtures that need replacing nor can I recommend this product due to the safety issues. I will be looking for a fixture that does not used a mounting bracket similar to this product and is properly inspected by a recognized safety laboratory. I would also look for a fixture that will sit flush to the ceiling and not rely on a small bracket. I recommend to Amazon to have this product listed as a non-standard fixture for the U.S market. ... show more

The electrical connections are not good, the light goes on and off when you touch it. The electrical connections are the kind where you push the wire in and it cant come back out, makes for a very bad connection, screws would have been much better. The instructions don't say what gauge wire is suggested or if solid wire is recommended. I used a 14 gauge solid conductor because a 12 gauge would have been impossible to bend in the way needed to make this fixture fit. The mounting method is ridiculous. the metal piece is much to small, it sinks into the hole of the box and its impossible to mount the light! I had to do some modifying and jury rigging to get it to work. Don't waste your money on this cheapo light fixture, get a higher quality one instead. ... show more

    • This light is not designed to mount on a standard 4 inch light box!

This light is not designed to mount on a standard 4 inch light box which is industry and residential code standard for over 60 yrs here in the USA. I had to drill a hole in the mounting bracket in order for it to attach to a standard box so it worked but required some additional effort, tools and time. The thing is there's absolutely no reason the MFR couldn't add a short slot in the mounting bracket to accomodate it, they just don't, likely because of the chinese origin they don't have the same standards as we do. The light is bright and looks fine but again the unorthodox way it attaches to the supplied mounting bracket make it a bit less secure than I would like but it will work for now and I'll see how long it lasts. ... show more

    • SUPER Bright White Light - Wiring Connections Could Be Better

This light is a very bright white. Far brighter than expected and very harsh. I took the chance of a 5000k light and learned my lesson! Still, it certainly works well and puts out a lot of light so if that is what you are looking for, go for it. If you want a softer, yellower light, look elsewhere. My real beef is the push-in connectors for the wires. They really do not hold very well and pull out as you maneuver the thing onto the bracket, a process that is pretty tight as it sits flush with the ceiling. Because you have to push the wires into the connectors and then screw a 'waterproof' cover over the connections. This system pretty much requires that you use pigtail wires to plug into the light and then use wire nuts to connect the pigtails to the power supply in your ceiling box. It is fairly tricky to get it mounted on the bracket without putting enough pressure on the wires to cause them to slip out of the less-than-tight push connectors on the body of the light. Another issue is the bracket that screws to the ceiling box is not made for american ceiling boxes. The screw holes do not line up and you can't really center the light on the ceiling box. You can work around it but how hard would it be for the manufacturer to drill holes appropriate to the market to which they are selling? I do give them credit, however, for the fairly clever way the light connects to the bracket and allows it to sit flush with the ceiling. That worked easier than I thought it would. All in all - it is a good (if very harshly bright) light with some quirky installation issues. I would recommend it if you are looking for a very white and very bright light and are moderately mechanically skilled and can deal with the wiring and bracket quirks. ... show more
