we use this a lot for teaching my daughter to write and spell saves a ton on paper and pens, but it is flimsy and the pen keeps getting lost but you can use just about any thing to write on it even a fingernail so no worries. so recommend yes I would for basic needs. oh and the color thing its static each area on the screen has a color hue and that never moves or changes so color not really worth much next time ill stick to black and white for a tablet like this ... show more

    • Insanely useful for memorization drills. And other stuff.

Memorization drills were pedagogically unfashionable the last time I checked, but some skills really do benefit tremendously from sheer repetition. In my case, it's memorization of the many morphological forms of an enchantingly complex ancient language; along with repeating them aloud and reading them in context, there's really nothing that beats just writing the little suckers down over and over and over and over again. Too bad about the trees though. Enter this delightful little gadget. It does exactly what it says it does: allows you to endlessly write, erase, write, erase, write, erase, and repeat until the second aorist, or your favorite poem or the speech you're making at your nephew's wedding or whatever, is permanently emblazoned upon your neural pathways. Also, you get to feel like a character from Star Trek: The Next Generation while you're doing it, which may not be high on everyone's list but is kind of a fun side benefit. PRO: Very light weight and nicely portable. Comes in a little foam sleeve, which you can re-use to protect the tablet when it's not in use. Writes very comfortably and legibly. No glare when using in the sunshine. Erases completely for a fresh writing surface. Replaceable battery, which means you don't have to chuck the entire unit out when its power source dies~ compare competitors. Arrived with its battery in place and a stylus that snaps into the edge of the frame, PLUS a replacement battery, a darling tiny little screwdriver with which to open the tiny battery compartment when the time comes, and a second, more comfortable stylus. Is functionally very much like using an ancient wax tablet, but happily without the melty mess in summer months. Price is quite lovely and packaging minimal. CON: None so far for me, but do be aware that: The tablet is *so* lightweight that feels close to flimsy. I use mine with a book under it for support and it's been perfectly fine, but it might not be ideal for an environment where it's likely to get bashed around a lot? Also, as other reviewers have noted, the writing is not super-bright and the stylus can be tricky to remove from the frame until you get your technique down. NOTE: I haven't been able to find out what the environmental impact is when the tablet eventually dies and has to be disposed of~ would love information about whether it can be recycled, is safe to landfill, etc. VERDICT: I love this thing, and I waste a *lot* less paper during study. It's also handy for quick notes during reading, making lists which you can then photograph to keep on your phone, and any number of other uses. (The nurses at my doctor's office use this tablet to record patients' vital stats without having to be right at a computer, and my archaeologist husband caught sight of mine and immediately said, "Wow, those would be great to give trench supervisors at the dig.") If it lasts long enough to justify the materials cost of its production vs. paper, I'll continue to be a very happy camper. ... show more

I was enticed by the cheap price but you get what you pay for! It is not as bright as the boogie board I am replacing and the magnets on the back don't stick well to the refrigerator. If you are just using this for notes and not hanging it up maybe this is the item for you but if I write on it while it's hanging it slides down. Also if you don't mind the writing not being dark then this is a good cheaper alternative. I am returning and buying a boogie board instead. ... show more

I love these writing tablets. They are fun and easy to use. I have purchased other brands before for my two boys and like many of their other toys they have ended up broken eventually. We are starting homeschool now so I wanted to get another tablet to use for school stuff and I found this two pack for an good deal. Cannot beat the price and I was excited it comes with two. I plan to put the blue away and bring it out only for school work and the pink one I am using for my 18 month girl to use to help keep her happy while I help the boys with school work. Both tablets work well out of the box and even came with extra batteries and magnets that you can use to stick on the back and hang on a fridge or magnet board. I’m super happy with this purchase thus far! Update: we have been using these for a few weeks now and my boys broke the blue one first, it still kinda works but you have to hold it special and press the erase button like 6 times in order for it to slowly erase. My boys are known for breaking things and my 1.5 yr daughters was still working fine so I just assumed it was the boys fault and not because of the device. Then I allowed my son to use my daughters for 3 minutes for some school work While I was still in the room and all the sudden he tells me that one won’t erase. I didn’t hear him smashing it or anything but it’s crazy that they stop working only for the boys, lol. So Again I’m not sure if it’s the device or my boys magic touch. Kinda bummed about how easily they gave out though. My boys have had two other types of these boards and one they broke the screen on and the other still sorta works but has to have a pep talk while pressing the button a million times also. Though I will say the first two tablets have definitely been put through a lot more than these. Long story longer, I would buy these again for my daughter and me but I don’t consider them sturdy enough for my boys. They just seem pretty fragile. ... show more
