    • Great for old houses with old windows!

These are pretty nifty! I have an old house (1923 vintage) with old wood double-hung windows. There is a one-inch strip of wood that holds the sashes in place so (for example) I really can't use some window treatments that require you to drill a hole and put a wide bracket up top. I need something slim. Well, these blinds fit perfectly on the one-inch piece of wood! No drilling is needed. I got the blackout version and yes, there's a little strip on each side where some light can get through -- but it is worlds better than having no roller blackout shade at all. And, they're inexpensive compared to almost any other roller shades you might buy online. (Maybe the ones you get at the hardware store are cheaper.) These shades were not easy to install. I had to hire a handyman to put them in. He told me that he has had to install these types of "no drill blinds" for several customers. FYI, he ended up having to drill in an extra bracket to keep them in place. They work fine, just be prepared to have to hire someone to install them. Not an easy installation even for a handyman! ... show more
