This is an inexpensive, easy option to darken and cool a room. The quality is in line with the inexpensive price, but that was okay for my needs. I did not trim the roll up curtain, but it seems like you could do that with household scissors. The Velcro seems strong (be sure to position it correctly the first time), and installation was easy. The fabric side looks nice, and that is the part that faces the room. I found it easier to roll up with shiny side out. It definitely darkens the room a lot! I got this for a south facing window that gets a lot of sun, so I think this will help keep this room cooler in the summer and save on energy costs. This is not a fancy product, but I am happy with it.

------ why i was looking for this product----- I live on campus in an apartment right by some frat and sorority houses. I underestimated how loud they would get on the weekends and even the middle of the week. I thought I'd get a head start before they all come back from winter break to make some changes to avoid some of their nuisances; one of these being the lights. The street lights are on anyway, but when they party the lights from their buildings and leds shine into my window. I live in the basement part of my complex so my window is high up and there's really no way to completey block the light. The cops also come very often because of underage drinking, noise, or just general problems that go on during their parties. So I also have to deal with the bright cop lights . ---- why this?----- I saw this product during my search for a curtain. Im not allowed to drill holes or even use adhesive or tape here, but we use command strips anyway. I was going to get adhesive curtain rod holders, a curtain, and a rod, but there's not much space or flat area to place it on my windows. It's also above my bed and I didn't want to get wacked in the head if it happened to fall. This product looked easy to place, was affordable, and looked like an actual black out curtain. ---- application---- It was super easy to install. I didn't have fabric scissors but my regular cheap scissors worked fine to cut this. My scissors glided smoothly during the cuts. I will note that I didn't notice one of the rods was bigger than the others, so I taped two together. I was about to tape the 3rd when i realized it just slides in. So i took the tape off and just slid the two smaller ones into the bigger one. The velcro was very easy to install and sticks great! I was worried it wouldnt stick well on my window because 1) the wall is cold from the snow, and 2) there's no flat space. It wasn't a problem and the curtain adhered just fine. ----- use ----- The clips work perfectly for holding the curtain when you roll it up. The light is completely blacked out. I included a video to compare my two windows. I only bought 1 to test it but now that I know what a great product it is, I'll be ordering a 2nd one for my other window. I got this one on sale for $13 but it was originally $19. Either way, the value matches the price, and its a great solution for anyone looking for a cheap but quality fix to light blockage.

I really like the color, it’s a nice solid black. It looks good as a curtain, I have no issues with the stability or sturdiness. It fit great size wise but some light does escape the sides, but it’s a total blackout otherwise. Beyond easy to assemble. It’s also pretty stable, no issues holding itself up so far. The adhesive strips are strong, the Velcro is strong.

They are really sturdy but the wore off in 2 days even though we cleaned the surface that it was sticking to. They do block out the sun very well keeps our house nice and cool. We did staple that one of the velcro strips to our wall also measure your windows before buying.

I installed this product in a window. This product comes folded and there is really no way to iron out the creases because of the "plastic" backing. I did not try a steamer, however. It is very thin, like a thin piece of fabric fused onto a disposable tablecloth. It does however, black out the light. Installation was easy, but putting the loop tape onto the backing is very unforgiving. Wherever you stick it, it will not come off without damaging the product. I would imagine on a french door, the shade will flap when the door is open and closed. It did work for my purpose in a window in a spare bedroom that is hardly used. I would have given it 3.5 stars if that was an option. Probably a good buy at this price!

I purchased the shade because I needed to cover half of a window that my air conditioner is in. The shade works perfectly and was easy to install. It is perfect for a temporary period while I have the air conditioner in the window and then it will be easy to take down. The shade is made from quality materials and should last for several seasons.

I bought this as solution to my apartment's window AC unit not allowing me full use of my blackout curtain and it's the perfect solution. It's easy to use and very renter friendly with quick install and good stability. I've had it up for over a month and the adhesive has held even in the high summer temperature. Very easy to assemble and such a huge difference! I’m just hoping the tape holds up in the Arizona sun! But it seems very sticky and sturdy. I love that it has a mechanism to pull them up and let in natural light as well. I put mine right over my blinds and behind my normal curtains. The right side is done and the left wasn’t done at the time of this photo.
