This thing is heavy by design. Feels sturdy and durable. Handles are adjustable in length, but longer is probably better, if you can handle the extra weight. Worth the money to get this wider model because the narrow ones just take longer. If it was any lighter it would not work. Mow low before starting. Go nice and slow with it. Don’t make the piles too tall. If the material is dry it will be easier too.

Updating my review from 1 star to 4 stars: Customer service reached out and provided a new leveling rake. It did confirm my suspicions that the first rake had a defect, but the second rake held up very well for what I needed. Customer service was great and easy to work with! If there were an item to take the record for worst thing I've ever purchased on Amazon, it would be this. The connections are totally unsecured, nor do they friction fit tight enough for this to be usable. I can get maybe 1 push, then coming back, the thing comes apart. I've pushed hard trying to see if they're supposed to snap into place, but nope, it REALLY is thar terrible. Buy ANYTHING else

I mean, it works… but I can level faster and better with a rake. I think it needs to be much wider to really be effective as a leveling tool. It tends to push dirt out from the middle of where you’re leveling, so you need to rake some back anyway.. so just use a rake. The kind with the long flexible metal tines (like 30 of em) work well. You can flip it over and level as good as this does. Really need a 3-4ft wide version otherwise your just leveling the bottom of every pothole or valley in the yard. Not actually leveling it with the surrounding yard.

I bought this because I didn't want to spend over $100 on the wider versions. I wasn't expecting much but this was much sturdier than I was guessing. The "Lightweight" gets 5 stars because it is NOT lightweight, which is what you want. The metal is thick, and the multi-piece handle feels solid when put together. If I had to do a large area I'd want a wider one, but maybe I'd just buy another one of these and join them together.
