Description

GEARWRENCH mechanics tools have all been designed with the professional user in mind to increase productivity, access, and strength. The ratchets, sockets, and wrenches are made from premium alloy steel and feature a full polish chrome finish. The 80972 is a 243 piece 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. drive set that features 12 point sockets in both SAE and metric sizes. Also included in the set are 90 tooth ratchets in 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. drives, various drive tools, 12 point combination wrenches and bit sockets. The set is furnished in a 3 drawer blow mold storage box for storage and organization.

I spent hours comparing and researching different kits. After buying a couple different sets and comparing side by side. It was immediately apparent that this was the set to keep. I spent about 210 dollars before tax, for the 12 point set. A serious deal! While the toolbox is not the sturdiest. It is hard to beat the organization and having every tool you need in one spot, let alone the portability. Often times the driveway isn't the best workspace and for bigger jobs I usually take my car projects indoors. And having the ability to grab my tool box knowing where all my essential tools are is a huge time saver. The quality and quantity of the open ended wrenches alone is top tier, although I noticed one odd bend on one wrench. Having all sockets I need, and a variety of extensions makes this the only kit you will likely need. It has been a long time since I have been so stoked about a purchase such as this. This set is nice and sturdy. Just for the price I wish it did not come with thin wall sockets. I have done some heavy duty and questionable things (far beyond what they are rated for) and still not broke half a year later. Good set for yourself to expensive for a gift. Also not a lot of filler tools which is great. Edit: almost 3 years later and I have rebuild 2 trucks dissected multiple engines and this set still work like the day I bought it. Ironically I have lost the 3/8 drive 10mm socket. If I ever have a need, I will buy a another set. ... show more

Good, basic mechanic set. Fits well in a SRW service body bin. The sockets aren't retained in any meaningful way, so the kit showed up pretty jumbled. It also came with two 16mm deepwells and no 17. The case is also pretty chinsy, but the drawers come out as trays.

Not as good as once believed product did not hold up, purchased in jovember and firsttime using one of the mini extention 1/2inch to 3/8 for a 1/2 inch nut itsnapped in half. Waitingto see how warranty works.. but snapping on first use is not good. Although it is 32 degrees out side, it should not matter.     • Dont Buy It! Better options out there
Why did you pick this product vs others?: overpriced cheap tools. Took forever to receive. Can do better at Harbor Freight. You cannot close the tool box if any of the tools are not in the perfect place. Because its hard to open the drawers they hang up, you pull against it and they tools all leap into the air and get mixed up. If you like spending time putting ALL the pieces back in the right spot every time you use it...then this is for you. Durability: Its all cheap tools Value for money: Not worth it and its about impossible to return as Amazon walks away from it and takes it to the mfgr website which you cant find how to return anything, so now Im stuck with a crummy tool set for over $250 Ease of use: Very difficult to use ... show more
