I'd like to get into cut and engrave as hobbie. After some researching, I settled with LP4. No prior experence though I find it is easy to learn. Pro: - The design software is easy to learn. Its able to auto trim/remove backgrounds. Able to convert image to vector graphics. (LP4 only able to cut with vector graphics) - The machine construction and feel is solid. - The head is deatchable, which let you cut or engrave hard to reach spot. I also think it does those rust removal trick, but I have not yet experiment with that. Con: - The machine itself has bluetooth capability but it only works with cell phone app. The software on the computer needs USB cable to function. (A separate Bluetooth USB dongle for the PC is needed from LP) - The included design software is easy to learn, but its functions are limited. If advanced editing is needed, other 3rd party software is required. Some of them are hard to learn.

I was looking for a great hobby machine. I bought two different gantry machines but had to run slower or at the sides it would blur the letters or graphic . Good for almost any material you want to engrave . I use the basic Laserpecker software that provides good options with ease of use. A great machine I sure like mine and recommend it.

The "book" included with the unit gave wonderful instructions on assembling the product (although it is self explanatory, it only goes together one way), but instructions are always good. - I feel a printed beginers guide would be beneficial (trying to teach non-tech oriented people to use the unit is difficult). I found that the android software (LaserPecker) was problematic, i had trouble keeping connected to the laser. however the "design studio" works perfect, and gives me much more control of the laser. (Thank You). So far i have burned on multiple metals, anodized aluminum cards, multiple types of wood sheets, and slate rock coasters. I love the unit, thank you. I recently purchased the slide extension, something to help keep it straight with the laser would be helpful. Thanks, this is a wounderful laser.

I purchased this laser engraver to use to make personalized gifts for family and friends. It's great for engraving wood, metal, plastic, leather, etc. I have engraved metal watch bands, wooden knife handles, leather tags, aluminum luggage tags, and slate coasters...usually with funny personalized sayings that I could not otherwise buy in stores. The software is easy enough to setup, I use the LaserPecker App on a MacBook Pro laptop. It's easy to import graphics and add text...then resize for the perfect fit before engraving. One caution for those considering purchasing this is that most items give off unhealthy fumes while being engraved. I use this in my garage with both doors open for ventilation. I would not recommend using this in a small enclosed space.

I am new to engraving and was able to create my first engraving without the tutorial! It's very user friendly! I can't wait to really get in to it and learn the actual ins and outs so I can create all sorts of items! I just connected via bluetooth, picked out my design and sent it to the Laser 4. It did the rest. I had to experiment with depth, but other than that, it was great for a beginner such as myself! I totally recommend this product for beginners as well as experienced designers.

Perhaps I received a bad unit, but I was unable to connect the machine to a computer via USB cable and 4 hours on the phone with support did not help. I was finally able to connect it to my phone via bluetooth however, that would only allow me to load images within the LP database. I attempted to transmit the image to the LP4, but it would never complete the send. Absolutely unable to utilize the machine at all.

The machine is very easy to assemble and use. In 30 mins I had it assembled and had done my fist (test) engraving. The app for iOS is not as advanced as it is for Android. Since engraving in different materials is a lot of trial and error on the parameters, LP could do much more to make resources available based on inputs from all the users. I think creating an easy to access / easy to contribute master database would be great and a big asset. You can research in Google or look for videos in YouTube but is time consuming and is really driven by YouTube creators and not the company itself. So really good equipment. Could do a bit more for the user.
