The media could not be loaded. The end result that this projector is capable of is really beautiful and captivating, however, I found it a bit more complicated than it should have been to get it working. It’s designed, ideally, to work in conjunction with the Smart Life app which requires a download to your phone before you do anything else other than remove it from the box. So now I have yet another account that I have to set up and keep track of! I sure hope they make me use one of their passwords instead of my own and I really look forward to all the unwanted emails I will now undoubtedly get . . . all so I can now look at pretty patterns on my ceiling. You can almost, sort of, use it without taking that step, but it can’t really do much unless you download the app and register with Smart Life. The directions (which leave something to be desired) offer 2 ways of setting it up. One is via bluetooth, the other is via Wi-Fi. They recommend the bluetooth method. However, I was unable to get it to pair with my iPhone 16 Pro via bluetooth. My phone couldn’t find it. I’m quite experienced at this point pairing things with my phone so I’m pretty sure that failure in this case is not on me. In any event, I switched to the Wi-Fi method which did work once I downloaded the Smart Life App and added this to its list of devices. With that out of the way, through their app, I was able to access more options for different types of displays for this projector. Rather than pour through the directions trying to find specific ones to try (which I may revisit at some later point) I just sort of hacked around pressing the different buttons and scenes and found a satisfying combination that had a lot of built-in changes which produced a variety of different looks to emerge. If you watch my accompanying video, it gives a pretty good overview of some of the types of things it’s capable of creating, some of which are downright mesmerizing. I have no complaints about the imagery, it’s very pretty and, in a completely dark room such as the one I used, it’s really quite striking which is the reason, despite some of my annoyances with the set up, that I still gave it 4 stars. There are a couple of minor things they could have done a bit better in my view. The connection to electricity is via USB cable which either requires that you use it near a computer or have one of those USB wall block adapters. I don’t have a laptop and my desktop is upstairs in another room, so I had to go the wall plug adapter route which means I had to go hunt one of those down. Seriously, how much more would it have cost for them to include that? Similarly, the remote that comes with this requires two AAA batteries, not a big deal unless you don’t happen to have any around. I know that there are regulations about shipping things that contain batteries but lots of manufacturers somehow manage to do it. Again, not a huge deal, just annoying. Ultimately, though, the end result is quite beautiful and compelling, as I said. It’s a little bit of a hassle to set up initially, but once you do, it’s a very nice effect.

This projector is not compatible with Google or Alexa. It only works with the remote, the button and then smart life app. Adding Google and Alexa logos is false advertisment. Light quality is good, however the predefined angles are annoying, I'm sure one can get something better for the same price.

My grandkids love this, as it has all the features of the star projector they have at home, but adds a beautiful nebula backdrop! It's easily controlled with an app I already had from two other products I use. Great color variety, rotation control, and brightness control.

I have tried more than 5 sky/star projectors in the last 10 years and this one is by far my favorite. It is not small - but the lens is big and that helps illuminate a room so much easier. Please note - at the time of this review, the Amazon description lists this item as 3.9" in length, width and height. It is a dish with more than 6 inches in diameter (pic is attached) and just over 2.5 inches in thickness. It works great at night - with or without the accompanied green star lights. It is a quality product and good value for the money - it doesn't rely solely on an app one has to download, but comes with its own remote and even if you lose the remote, you can still use it with the main button on the side. A perfect projector for kids and adults - especially if the bedroom does not have a ceiling fan. The only issue I found so far is that the side button is light up when the unit is off - so you may want to cover it at night if you are a light sleeper.
