  • Paint flakes off after only 1 use!!!
Color: Georgia Clay
After all the amazing reviews for this thing, I gladly bought it and couldn't wait to use it for the first time. Well, after just 1 fire, I went to clean it up in the morning and to my surprise the Georgia Clay finish is peeling all over the stars and moons. It's completely flaking off! Not everywhere, but apparently one spot that didn't get good "heat resistant" paint coverage. Disappointed and upset, I took a photo and went to Landmann's website for an email or phone number. I found an email and sent the details of my purchase from Amazon and the photo of the flaking paint. Here is their exact response. "All of the fire pits will peel after use, the paint is a heat resistant paint but no paint will hold up to the heat of a fire. The only thing you could do is sand off the area and repaint it with a heat resistant paint. Again this will not last when this is used." SO BE WARNED, THEY SAY THE PAINT WILL NOT LAST. I replied and told them I realize nothing can withstand fire over a long period of time, but after 1 use?? Come on. I'll submit my photo on Amazon for all to see. If you dont care about the paint, then it's a nice firepit that is a little hard to fit together during assembly, but other than that, serves its purpose of containing a fire. UPDATE: The customer service department informed me that their "paint is good to 1000 degrees." So I went to Autozone and bought "Rust-Oleum 248903 Automotive 12-Ounce High Heat 2000 Degree Spray Paint, Flat Black" to coat the firepit. This should be the standard paint they use to begin with. Oh well, at least future buyers who read this will know! ... show more

  • Nice product but came TWICE with all the hardware missing
Color: Georgia Clay
Their shipping methods are horrible. The box came crushed, with gaping holes. Their issue, not UPS. The cardboard that made the box was paper thin. Through the holes fell all of the hardware so I have never been able to use the spark guard. At the time I purchased it (last minute for a party) I was forced to keep it because of my logistics. Got around many months later to contact the manufacturer about missing parts. In the middle of the pandemic. They get extra points for addressing my issue and ordering replacement parts. The problem is, their shipping container was even lower quality, the box totally trashed, spark guard totally bent and crushed and once again, missing hardware. So I still have a pit with no spark guard. The pit is beautiful but I will never order one from the place again if it has to get shipped to me. ... show more

  • 7 years and still happy!
Color: Georgia Clay
I bought this fire pit in October 2011, after hyper analyzing fire pit options, prices I splurged and got this one that was more pricey than a cheap home improvement store option for $60. It’s now 7 years later, and despite never having a cover on it, only sometimes remembering to get it slid under the deck to protects from rain, ashy water sitting in it for days as a result, and probably 50 fires in it, it’s still going strong. There’s rust and it’s not as pretty but it hasn’t gotten holes and works as intended. ... show more

  • Issues After One Use
Color: Georgia Clay
I realize that this is not the most expensive fire pit on the market, but I was not anticipating issues after its first use. The inside paint began to peel away after one night of use. While this may not affect things too much, aesthetics are important. A new car might still drive fine even if the paint starts to peel after one outing, but what does that say about the manufacturer of the car? I guess my point is that this seems like a cheap product if the paint is affected after one use. It makes me question if there are any other problems on the horizon. ... show more

  • Very nice fire pit at a fair price.
Color: Georgia Clay
We've only had it a month or so, but so far, so good, and it holds a sizable fire that looks lovely through the moon and star cut-outs. I followed the advice of other reviewers and painted the pit with Rustoleum high heat paint. Rather than lining with fire brick, I placed a circular concrete paver in the middle of the bottom, then sand around the sides. This works great to dissipate heat, but makes it much more difficult to move (now requires two sturdy people). I also drilled a hole through the middle of the bottom to serve as a drain should it get wet. We also bought the Landmann cover. We'll see how that works out. It fits fine, but does not appear to be too sturdy. Much better than nothing, though. ... show more

  • Beautiful fire pit!
Color: Georgia Clay
This fire pit is beautiful! We did coat it with a clear coat 2000 degree high heat paint to help protect it from rust over time and added fire bricks to the bottom in addition to the sand to make clean up easier. The high heat paint made it look even better because the paint that comes on it is flat and the paint gave it a glossy look that is attractive. I would highly recommend this fire pit, especially for the low price compared to other, smaller pits. We also love that you can cook on it! Update: it has terribly rusted, even with the high heat paint. Starting to regret my purchase. ... show more

  • Great size
Color: Georgia Clay
This fire pit is a great addition to our backyard experience. It handles large logs with the deep well, as well as provides great air to the fire with the side screens. Do not know how well the original finish survives as we spray painted it with hi-temp resistant paint prior to the first use. The screen top, however, did not get that special treatment. After a month or so, there is some rust showing on that top screen. We definitely would buy this again if we needed another fire pit. Not easy to transport, but great for a fixed location. ... show more
