True to size. I wear a 3-4x depending on the brand. I purchased the 3xl and I have plenty of room for layering underneath. Its Very thick and warm, so I may not need to layer too heavily. it's a very cute coat, but there's issues. My right lower pocket had a small hole on the inside .string or belt... that comes around your waist. The clamp is broke so you can't it adjust. Very sad and disappointing
