For starters, both are gorgeous! My photo was taken to provide a solid comparison in natural lighting. The picture is very true to color. I really had trouble deciding which hue to go with because they’re all beautiful choices. In the end, I decided to try my hand at both the French Taupe and the French Gray to see which one I preferred. I decided to keep the French Taupe. I understand suede will vary in color but it was way lighter than I expected. That said, I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the gray too but there is a purplish-brown undertone to it that just didn’t compliment my skin very well. I’m olive toned but currently a light olive. I feel like it brought out the green color in my veins on my hands. It’s still really pretty though and will definitely look gorgeous on someone. For size reference, I’m 5.7”, 138 lbs, Size 5/6, 36B. The Medium of both colors is a very fitted look. Meaning, it’ll look great with a tank, tee or dress but I wouldn’t be able to wear a sweater or hoodie underneath. It’s more of a tailored/polished look than extremely comfortable. I would wear it open; I can zip it up but only if I sit straight up while holding my breath (lol) or lose a few pounds (that’s on the agenda though which is why I’m keeping it). To note, I also ordered a Lg to compare and will update my review of my final answer once that arrives.

I was so excited to get this jacket in the French Taupe. For reference, I am 5'2", 127 lbs., 34DD, and wear petite sizes; usually an xs or small. I got the medium based on reviews. I think different colored jackets are sized differently, because some say the arms are short, some say it's tight, and some say it fits snug, some say large. On me, the medium jacket was huge in the chest and waist, and the sleeves almost covered my hands. The color was beautiful and it had a mild, wonderful suede smell. So I returned it and ordered a small in the herb, since small in French Taupe was sold out. The small herb was like a Barbie jacket on a gorilla. So back it went, and a small was available in the French Taupe. I worried it would also be super tight, but WAH LAH! A perfect fit! So I was right. Some colors are just bigger or smaller, and if you have the patience you just have to keep trying until one fits. Too bad there wasn't a store with all colors and all sizes, but it was worth being patient for. Third time was a charm! I am happy with the color and fit, AND I can zip it or leave it open. It's so pretty!!!! You may have to order and reorder, but it's worth it, and the price can't be beat!!!

Love the way the jacket looks even though it’s a completely different color than in the advertised picture. The picture looks like a mint green the jacket is a sage green. But I haven’t been able to wear it because of the smell. I left it out in the sun, I called a leather cleaner to help and they said there is nothing that can be done. If you buy this jacket and it smells return it immediately don’t think you can wait it out.

I love this jacket so much, it is stunning, heavyweight, high quality, perfection EXCEPT it runs so small. I am a size 2, 5’6”, 125lbs, and the Medium is so tight I can’t wear anything under the jacket other than a thin tshirt or tank top. Also can’t zip it up and be comfortable. I waited too long to exchange for a size Large, but honestly if I need a Large, this jacket couldn’t possibly fit a majority of the women shopping on Amazon. I’ve read that other colors in the same jacket run large so apparently it’s hit or miss. Quality is 10/10, sizing 2/10. Hope this helps.

This color ‘herb’ is supposed to be more of an olive tone but it arrive as an emerald tone, very dark jewel tone green. It’s a color I’ve never seen in this style jacket before so I’m keeping it regardless. Just know that if you’re ordering ‘herb’ it might not be the one you want. Other than that, the quality is incredible as expected from another real suede Blank NYC jacket. This is my fifth one I’ve purchased as you cannot go wrong with this. The style will be a staple timeless piece that will never go out of style. I pair it these jackets with so many different types of outfits. As far as sizing, it’s a small fitted jacket in your normal size so if you want to layer under it then definitely size up one. It’s also more of a cropped fit, if you have a longer torso keep this in mind. The quality is incredible for the price point. The suede is soft & rich in color. Zippers are heavy duty high quality as well as the buttons. Love everything about this jacket & hope more colors go on sale in XS so I can continue to build my collection. Obsessed

I bought a large and the jacket fit well and the color was beautiful. However, there was an overwhelming chemical smell, I couldn’t even be in the same room as this jacket. The smell gave me a headache, and irritated my nose and throat. I got up in the middle of the night to move the jacket to another room because I could smell it from my closet. Thirty days passed and I brought the jacket out and the smell was as strong as the first day. I put it up to my husband’s nose and he about fell over. I bought the jacket on November 9, and returned it December 9. I was never able to wear the jacket.
