When this lamp arrived, I was surprised at how small the box was. I was like "what did I order in such a small box?" But they didn't cheap out, it assembled into a fully functional, and gorgeous, lamp. I have no complaints about it - the base is nice and sturdy and heavy, it's designed to make it easy to hide the excess cord under the base, and it looks great. I will mention that the ad is slightly misleading - the rotary switch does not control the brightness. It's just an on/off switch. The included bulb itself controls the brightness. Every time you turn it off and on again, it cycles through one of three brightness settings. Even unplugging the lamp or turning it off/on with a smart plug will cycle it. I personally just replaced the bulb with one that does not dim.

I bought two of these and put each in a different room. They're okay. On the brightest setting, they provide the amount of light I was hoping for, enough to light up the room they're in. The one quirk/down-side is how they adjust the brightness. You turn it on once and it's dim. Night-light dim. Turn it off then on again, and it's medium brightness. Off and back on again, and it's at its brightest. I'd prefer it just come on at full brightness. (I *think* that the brightness levels are a function of the bulb and not the lamp, so maybe I should simply swap out the bulb.) I did find that once you have it plugged in, you can set the lamp to "on" and then flick the wall switch multiple times to get to the brightness level you want. If it's been off, though, it'll start out at the dim level. Easy enough to put together -- you basically just screw the pole segments together. The dome is plastic, so the risk of breaking anything is minimal.

I don't always want my ceiling lights on in my living room. I wanted a floor lamp to provide soft lighting so I took a chance on this one because of the price and the 3-way lighting effects. They even provided a light bulb that actuslly works! I was very impressed with the wonderful packaging of the lamp. That alone told me that the seller cares about their product. They even provided an uncomplicated instruction sheet that also included photo directions. I am so pleased to receive this quality item. It looks great and works very, very well. Highly recommend and would absolutely purchase again.

I wish I'd had the option to choose NO STARS! I chose this lamp because it LOOKED almost identical to the lamp I've had for years that finally died on me...it was a sturdy, 3-way bulb lamp that I used in the kitchen for overall lighting, and especially for reading at the kitchen table. This replacemnt was a disappointment from the moment I opened the box. It was flimsy, and the 3 way bulb that came with it did not offer the same kind of "exact" lighting for the needs. But the old one had died and I needed a light there, so I am keeping it, but hope I can get adjusted to its limitations! One more comment! Because of the packing it came in, which was impossible to open without getting shreds of cardboard and styrofoam, etc. all over the place, it would also have been impossible to "return" it in the original packing (which I might have been tempted to do otherwise). So there it is by the kitchen table, but it's pretty wobbly! At least I can sit at the table and read.

I don't really like it. It's very cheaply made, lots of plastic. Very light and falls over easily when bumped by the cats. Another thing that is annoying to me as a reader is that the switch is so high up that you cannot reach it from your chair. So you have to stand up. Because of this I am shopping for a replacement because I want a reading lamp. I plan to just move it to my bedroom beside my desk because standing from working is not the same as standing from resting and relaxing. I think it's best as an office lamp. I gave it 3 stars because it's still a functional lamp and low in price and it has survived being knocked over twice by the cats without breaking despite being light and flimy.
