I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE LOVE LOVE this product!! I have super sensitive skin, so for many years I bough really expensive department store makeup brands. Nothing ever gave me a good coverage. I even tried the Bare Minerals product and that didn't work out either. A lot of makeup I was allergic to as well. When this product hot the shelves years ago, it changed my life!! I have Lupus and due to the diease I have what's called the butterfly rash. It's pretty common with SLE. I have dark spots of pigmented skin, red blotches and I also have severe acne. I don't like the heavy feel of primer, moisterizer, liquid foundation, concealer and powder! I wanted all in 1 products! #1 I use the Magic Perfecting cream by Loreal. Then I use the Mineral Powder. You can get a light coverage or a heavy coverage depending on how much you apply. I apply a lot of the mineral powder, but what's important is that it doesn't feel like a lot! It really doesn't feel like I have any makeup on at all. Now every now and again I have a red spot that i can't get covered even when using the small brush with the mineral powder. Then I have to use a concealer and I either use the green crayon like Loreal concealer or the skin color one. Just depends on the type of spot. And that's pretty rare that I have to use those. 90% of the time the Mineral Powder does the trick. Now I use to NEVER show my face without makeup on. I mean never. I remember one time my best friend dropped by with out calling ahead. She was in the neighborhood. I had no makeup on. I had her wait outside until I got my makeup out then opened the door told her to come in and have a seat on the couch and I quickly put my Loreal Magic Perfecting Cream on and them my Loreal Mineral Powder on. I was so embarrassed. Even when I've been admitted to the hospital I have my makeup on. I would shower or sponge bath and get at least up to the step of my mineral powder on. (I usually wear full makeup. Brows, eyeshadow, eyeliner, contouring pallet, blush, mascara, the setting spray. The Loreal setting spray is amazing! It keeps your makeup on all day long!! Not only do I have Lupus, but I have a whole array of health issues from heart and lung damage to degenerative bone diease and a book worth of health issues in between!!! Well recently I decided to share with people what I look like with no makeup. I want other women who are going through similar things that I do to know you can look beautiful and have your makeup look amazing on the cheep! So here I am from no makeup, to full makeup.

I love this stuff and actually really like the packaging. You can get different amounts of coverage depending on the amount of powder used and the way you apply it. If you use the regular brush and a circular motion with a small amount, you get good coverage and despite it being a powder, it looks natural. If you use a small brush (I like a small, angled brush, but I find those hard to find, and a rounded brush seems to do the trick), dip it into the powder, and then tap it on a blemish, it works like a concealer and hides the blemish well. I'm not sure why some people don't like the packaging. I take the clear lid off and place it on the counter upside down, like a bowl. Shake the container, turn it upside down, and then back right side up. Unscrew the lid with the attached brush. Tap the screw-brush-lid onto the container a few times to jar loose any powder stuck to the "bottom" of it. Then tap the brush into the powder, tap off excess, and apply in a circular motion to your face. I skip the forehead and crowsfeet, as powders tend to settle into the lines on me. :) Next, I put the brush into the upside-down bowl lid, so it can rest on the counter without dirtying the brush, and then I tap my concealer brush into the powder and tap it onto blemishes and dark spots. You don't need a lot of powder, so I don't think I'd want to remove the salt-shaker-y part and dip a brush right into the powder... the current design keeps you from getting too much makeup on your brush and overdoing it. Anyway, this powder is way quicker to apply than liquid foundations, and I was once complimented on my "flawless" skin after spending some time covering up two or three pimples that evening. :) My only complaint might be if the brush gets dirty and you wash it in soap and water, it doesn't feel as soft as it does before you wash it, nor as soft as the brush on their overall glow type product (which I think was discontinued, and I hope they bring it back. It has a slightly different consistency, so that brush may not work with this awesome powder anyway).

This powder does not slide on…It is not a coverup. It is just a good sheer powder for the money. And it does make skin look more even and better than nothing at all. But if you want a foundation compact, you might get a quality brush and try Estee Lauder Double Wear. It is a stay in place matte powder foundation that does go a long way to covering uneven skin tones, age spots, freckles, and minor blemishes. Both products are good, but it is like comparing apples to oranges. The Estee Lauder Double Wear is worth every penny to me because I have rosacea, and the Estee Lauder foundation covers it up so that I actually get compliments on my skin, and I do not need additional coverup sticks or liquid foundation, or powder…just the Double Wear applied with a short bristled brush. It is a real time saver. I have fair skin and I wear 2C3 Fresco.

I love this foundation. As I’ve progressed to my 50s, finding a liquid foundation that doesn’t settle into fine lines and/or sweat off is impossible. This powder foundation does not do either. It goes on easy, doesn’t draw attention to fine lines or crease. You can build on the amount of coverage you want by applying a little or a little more. The only drawback is it can get a little messy is you’re not careful. The powder can fly around. Not a deterrent in the slightest for me!

All pigmented foundations generally have these minerals as the ingredient and so why buy all those things that have to have chemicals and preservatives when you can buy this and put your own favorite moisturizers etc,. and regulate much better what you are applying to your skin. This goes on as sheer or heavy as you want and if you dampen a makeup brush with a bit of water can be applied like a liquid foundation as well. I hope they never stop making this more natural and fragrance free makeup. Fragrances may make foundation smell nice but they are damaging to the skin and speed up aging. So this is a much better choice and actually has a higher pigment than many of the more expensive mineral makeups. On top of all that the color selection range is wonderful. It is not always easy to find very pale colors with a warm base most other foundations turn either too pink or turn orange on my skin. Tru Match does not change colors on me, it stays true to color and lasts all day and night. I am 65 years old and having been using this for very many years. It is a mistake to think that this dries your skin, liquid foundation has moisturizers and if you apply your own quality moisturizer this will not dry your skin any more than any other makeup. In fact some of the additives that keep liquid foundation from molding will actually dry your skin much worse. Give this a try, once you learn how to use it you will be happy with it.

It's an okay product but the PACKAGING. Why, Loreal? This runs ~$15 at the local drugstore, which is more expensive than when it first came out some 10-15 years ago and YOU STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THE PACKAGING OR THE USELESS BRUSH TOP. Anyway, coverage is decent because you can build it up as needed.

I started using this foundation in 2007. It's now 2013. In the past five and a half years of using makeup I have strayed numerous times but always come back to this one, because it is nearly perfect. It gives you a semi-matte, soft-focus look without looking artificial or caked on. It stays well, blends well, and provides coverage that you can build from sheer to opaque depending on your needs. It's so versatile that I also pair this with a small brush and use it as a concealer. It doesn't look good on dry, flakey skin, but what does? Just make sure to moisturize and exfoliate regularly (I recommend jojoba oil for moisturizing). The key to an even application is buffing the powder into your skin with small brush circles and adding just a little bit at a time (it will cake if you have too much powder on the brush). I'm very light-skinned, so I'm not sure how the full range of colors is, but the Soft Ivory and Light Ivory both have a yellow undertone to them that matches my skin tone much better than the typical pink cast of foundations in this shade. When I'm at home, I prefer to pour some powder in a wide blending tray before applying so I can coat the brush thinly and evenly, but the container and brush it comes with work well enough while on the go (just make sure to hold the container upright and shake it side to side before opening to settle any excess powder that might have poured out in travel).
