Our MaxxHaul 50214 Spare Tire Carrier holds 4-lug (4 on 4" bolt pattern) and 5-lug (5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern) trailer wheels and are not compatible with 4 on 4-3/4" or 5 on 5" bolt pattern. It can be mounted on trailer tongues up to 3 inches wide and 5 inches high. It has an angled and raised mounut design, making this item ideal for boat trailer as well. This is a well built spare tire mount. It's easy to install and fit my application very well. Once all the bolts were tightened it felt very solid and I'm confident it will hold the spare securely. The mount is made of steel that is very thick and the bolts are heavy duty. It's a very stable spare tire mount. It's versatile because it could be mounted on either side and has many different mounting holes for different sized trailers. It looks great!

I purchased this spare tire carrier to attach a spare tire to my Doolittle 7712 utility trailer. The trailer did not come with a spare and that is basically essential equipment, especially for a utility trailer. This mount was going to support a Free Country ST205/75D15 Trailer Tire Wheel Assembly 6-Ply Load C 101L on 5x4.5" tire on a white steel wheel. Basically a spare identical to the tires already on the trailer. The quality of this kit is ok. The metal seems thick enough to get the job done, but it could be a bit thicker. A visual inspection of the welding seems to indicate no problems, but other reviews have claimed that the welds can fail. Vibration will kill welds. After mounting, I gave the spare a good kick and there is some vibration. A lot, actually Thicker metal would definitely help, but I think it probably will be fine. The kit was very easy to install. The kit fit the c-channel frame of the trailer. There was just enough thread on the mounting bolts to cinch the nuts down tight, to the manufacturer's specifications. Check the manual online for torque specifications as there was nothing in the box except the parts and a yellow card begging for customer feedback. This review is to oblige. Here is a link to the manual: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/B1B1L1qflgL.pdf The online manual does not say what the thread pattern is for the wheel mounting hardware. It came with two fine-threaded carriage bolts, way longer than they needed to be, and two lug nuts. Frankly, this is not enough hardware to mount the wheel. Trying to mount or dismount a heavy spare tire while trying to mess with loose hardware is stupid. Cheap and poor design. The best solution would be to have a thick mounting plate for the wheel that woudl accept a wheel stud that matches the studs on the trailer. That way ALL the lugnuts on the trailer would match so you don't have to worry about finding more than one size of wrench in an emergency. The solution that I went with was to throw away the lugnuts that came with the kit and put 4 lug nuts that matched the same hex size on the trailer. They are a different thread pattern, but at least the wrench size is the same. The lug nuts and bolts that come in the kit are 1/2"-20 carriage bolts, measuring 1-3/4" long. That is too much. There is no earthly reason why you need that much thread sticking out. However, if you copy my solution, its fine. Go to an auto parts store and get a set of 4 or 5 1/2"-20 lug nuts in a hex size of your choice. Insert the carriage lugbolts through the bracket in the holes that fit your spare's wheel. Add one flat washer to each bolt. Add one lock washer to each bolt. Run one 1/2"-20 lug nut onto each of the lugbolts, BACKWARDS onto the bolt and tighten to 40 ft/lbs. The domed end of the lugnuts should be facing out. Mount the tire. There is still enough thread sticking out that you can put the tire on the bolts and it will hang there. Run one 1/2"-20 lugnut onto each of the bolts, this time with the domed end facing the wheel. The domed ends of the lugnuts will center the bolt in the holes in the wheel. Tighten to 40 ft/lbs. The spare is now mounted. You can undo the two lugnuts holding the wheel and the bolts stay put. No jiggly hardware to mess with. Sure, a pack of lugnuts is about $10, but it is way better that fighting loose hardware on the interstate. This kit is designed to work with a lot of trailers. I like the design. It was very easy to install. Once mounted, there really is no adjustability. You are going to find a fit that works, and that is where it will go. I recommend this spare tire carrier. It does the job and should last a while. It could be better, but then it would probably cost more. I would be willing to pay more if they solved some of the inconveniences.

These are bullet proof. Do not believe the BS feedback posts made that they are made of cheap steel, only spot welded, have cheap bolts that will break when finger tightening, that they will fall apart in 10 seconds after mounting or that the bolt pattern will not fit a std. 5 lug tire rim. My observations are: 1) they are made of better and thicker steel than my custom built trailer. 2) They are powder coated with thick paint. 3) every contact point is fully seam welded with a heavy bead. 4) The upper corner and bottom tire mounting bolt pattern fits my 4.5" 5 lug 14" tires perfectly. 5) The bolts are standard steel that they sell at any hardware store. 6) This tire mount took all of 15 minutes to install. Nothing was missing, nothing was broken, and this thing is built way better than I expected it to be after reading the reviews. I give it 5 stars. That said I will add lock nuts to the lug nuts to lock them in place. I will replace the super long trailer frame mounting bolts with shorter ones. I will also add a cable safety strap secured to the tire and trailer frame as recommended in the instructions. This tire mount and tire are not going anywhere though.
