I haven't fly fished in years. I had planned a long camping trip with an old friend in Wyoming and he told me that it was going to be fly fishing waters. Looked around on Amazon and by the reviews I picked this setup. I figured that it would be marginal at best. It arrived and I was surprised by the quality for the price, but I have to put it to the test. Fly line was decent, but the reel and rod were pretty dang good. Caught several rainbow and a few west slope cut throats and had a blast doing it. For price and quality, I would recommend....

It was a good rod at first. Felt good and balanced, however, the rod tip broke on my 2nd trip. I have not tried to contact the manufacturer yet…. We will see how that goes then I will update. Update lowered to one star- I reached out to Kyle Booker concerning the broken tip via their website and I heard nothing back from them. Another update: you are better off to get any other rod, from anywhere else.

Just purchased the 7'6" outfit for a trip to the mountain streams of North Carolina. This was the ideal set up for the tight confines of the Wild Rainbow and Brook Trout streams that are the main quarry in the high country. The 4 pieces break down into the rod tube which carries the reel as well. All neatly contained. The line is of a slate green color which is not likely to spook fish. The rod loads easily and is able to turn over the line nicely at short distances. Given the nature of this particular model, there was way more line on the reel than is necessary, but given the large arbor design of the reel, this make for very little coiling of the fly line which lays straight on the water. The rid was able to perform nice side casts as well as execute roll casts where there was limited rear space. The color of the blank reduces rod flash and further aids in deceiving fish that are wily and spooky. All in all, a great choice if you are beginning your "Blue Lining" experience.

I fly fish all year long in Canada and in Florida in the winter. I’ve been using Kylebooker fly fishing products for many years now and have never been disappointed. Just received my Kylebooker 8 weight fly rod combo and looking forward to trying it out. It’s preloaded with fly line, backing and tapered leader all you need is to attach a fly and your ready to fish. The machined reel looks and feels great, with a smooth easy to adjust disk drag. (Tip…always loosen your drag when your done fishing to extend the life of your drag. Again always happy with the products I purchased from Kylebooker…cost effective and value for your money! I will be adding videos of me using this rod soon on U tube, Facebook and Instagram to show you all the quality and effective use of this combo rod and reel. Another tip…always stretch the fly line before use to remove the memory and improve the effectiveness of your cast. Tight line and happy fishing!

This is a decent starter kit, pretty much ready to go right out of the box. Remember, You get what you pay for. You will catch fish with this, but will eventually realize the need to replace it with a higher quality rig if you’re an avid fisherman.
