Halo Wi-Fi Smart Lock is a keyless entry electronic deadbolt featuring SmartKey. Using the Kwikset App, you can lock/unlock, program up to 250 user access codes, and receive notifications from anywhere there's an Internet connection. This single cylinder deadbolt can be locked or unlocked by using the keypad or key from the outside as well as the turn button from the inside. The crisp, clean appearance of the Satin Nickel finish adds to the overall look of the product and brings a modern feel. Kwikset App and Account are required to activate the lock. A smartphone with Bluetooth 4. 2 or higher is required for compatibility. Update 10-11-2022 It seems that things have settled down now power wise. I put in new set of batteries in early August and they are now down to 50% so I would guess it’s possible to get 4 months of use out of one set of batiereis ( I am using Energizer) and this is acceptable to me. I still wish I could add an battery pack with C batieres to it…. It does seem to be worthy of 4 stars so I am upgrading my review to reflect that….; I am pretty impressed with many aspects and features of this Kwikset halo WIFI Smart lock. UPDATE 7-23-2022 The battery level has held steady at 80% until now. We manually lock it form the inside and lock/unlock is below 10 per day. So for now I am happy. i will do another update in a month. Original review Its very solidly built with a lot of thought gone into the design of it. It looks good Touchpad is quite responsive, certainly more than good enough for its purpose Installation took a while longer because the unit I received from Amazon did not behave as expected (it turned out to be defective) Connecting to Bluetooth was OK, also was connecting to wifi. I had to fine tune the lock assembly to remove a slight drag as the dead-bolt reciprocated to lock and unlock positions. As mentioned in parentheses, the amazon lock was defective and i had to return it. I bought a replacement for the same price from a local big box hardware store. This installation went faster because it was second time around and I had already uninstalled the Amazon bought lock. I installed the app on my Pixel 6 Pro it was fairly straightforward if a little laborious. Here is where things are a bit uncertain… By the way, I have set the auto-lock to off and manually lock it from the inside. The first day, the battery level was at 100% Second day it dropped to 90% Third day between 07.00 and 14.00 the battery level dropped to an alarming 60% There was less usage than the 10 locks/unlocks so the usage was fair, so I was alarmed at such a drop. Fourth Day, the battery level went back up to 70% then later in the day to 75% Fifth Day, it went up again to 80% Its mid afternoon now on the fifth day and its holding steady at 80% At 60% I was ready to return it, because using 40% in 3 days was outrageous but it has given itself a reprieve and I am carefully monitoring the battery usage. This reviews is using the 4 batteries that came with the unit. This is a really good lock that ideally needs an optional battery pack with size C batteries that can be attached to the door close to the unit. If I can get 4 months usage out of the batteries I would be happy, I will be doing follow up reviews as to how this goes. I do agree with Kwikset that there must be NO drag on the deadbolt or this will eat the battery. I have carefully made sure there is no drag and have also adjusted the lower lock to make sure the door closes soothly in line with the deadbolt. I love the convenience of this smart lock, The ability to lock/unlock this form anywhere is a real boon to me. One recommendation is to use manual lock so when you close the door you manually lock it, this will save a lot of battery. I also carry a key and sometimes use that instead of using the motor. Also, i have used several smart locks (non wifi) and this is the best of all of them even considering the battery concerns. I wish it had a fingerprint reader but for what is is is excellent with room for improvement. I purchased 2 of these locks for my Airbnbs and so far I am LOVING THEM!!! I have struggled with lock boxes and code changing with my cleaning staff for 4 plus years. This is a game changer. My handyman installed the locks in minutes and the app setup is super easy. So far, I have not noticed a battery issue, as other customers have commented but it's only been a couple of days. However the batteries are very easy to access, if you do need to change them. Yesterday, I had a last minute booking, and within seconds I was able to to enter the guests new code and give the guest access to the Airbnb while I was still at home in bed. So easy! ... show more

I replaced a traditional deadbolt with this Halo after my BIL installed one (we both have teenage kids); Super awesome to not have to deal with a key. My install was easy, not much different than a regular deadbolt (my deadbolt had plenty of clearance for ease on motor). Only thing to watch out for is connector wire from front of housing to back/interior housing without pinch it. App is very user friendly. ... show more

I have many kwikset locks in the house and some other brands for smart locks. I purchased the kwikset based on the features and ability to set various codes for multiple access. The main screen provides all the status you need and when in wifi range it responds quickly. Even with 5G the data response is far better than most smart locks on the market. Remember, there will be times you are not on wifi and have to rely on cell data and that can be tricky. As for the installation, you need to follow the directions carefully or the locking mechanism will not work. ... show more

Lock was easy to install. The lock functions great and I haven’t had any issues with locking or unlocking. I like that I’m able to check on my phone via the Kwikset app to see the locks status. My concern is the rate at which the lock goes thru the (4) AA batteries. I’ve had the lock 2 months and I’ve already had to replace the batteries. ... show more

I bought this one from amazon warehouse which will be cheaper but still around 200 dollars. I think the remote control through my iPhone app is great. The feature highly depend on the internet although. If my local network is down, it will screw.

Liked SmartKey feature and ease of install. Helped that I had a KwikSet already installed so able to use Strikeplate and other hardware. Alexa integration was easy so my wife can lock and unlock with simply her voice!
