  • It's a must have tool
The thing I really love about this is that there are dedicated bearings for the screw lifts. Probably built, nice welds, nice powder coat paint job and a price that doesn't hit Triple digits. And it's a must have if you're dropping the Cradle or you need to suspend the engine for any of the reason. I'm out here doing mobile repair for people, you can see the beach in the background it was such a cool job. I have owned three different engine braces before, and they are back at home a thousand miles away. Had to buy another one so I decided to go with the design that was a bit different than the other ones, and I love this one far better than the others I have. Some of the things I had to do was chase the threads on the feet attachments, and also you insert these rubber blocks into the bottom of the feet, and two of them they would just slip in and out they didn't have the exact correct space in between them, all you have to do is slightly hit it with a hammer to bend them in a little bit and you're good to go. I dropped a tiny bit of Gun oil on the bearing, just slightly lubricate them even though they already have light lubrication. I like how the spindle part is cupped and goes over the bearing and it totally protects the bearing from rain if you're doing something outside! We had rain going over Daytona Beach when I was doing the job, and I knew it was coming, and I wasn't afraid of leaving it out there for that quick half hour rain. ... show more

  • Danger, Buyer beware!
This hoist is great except for two things, one is MAJOR. The two vertical hand tighten bolts have plastic caps that will crack the instant weight is applied and once the plastic pops off they will go right through the huge holes in the fender washers. I placed a level on the hoist to ensure I was hoisting correctly but to no avail. I was able to locate two grade 8 bolts and thicker washers with smaller holes and averted disaster. This is otherwise a nice product. The rubber feet were too thin for the baseplate but a large set of vise grips allowed me to fix that in seconds. ... show more

  • Dangerous as is most modify
This product has a fatal flaw that could be dangerous. I had a small amount of lateral movement once tightening the puller. I heard a pop and realized that the plastic nut had broken because the bolt underneath was not supported by the washer only the plastic. If I actually had lifted the motor up the unit could have collapsed and damaged my fenders and possibly crushed my hand if I was under the car. So I could not recommend this tool as is. There is a simple fix by adding more washers to support the nut. Once this quick modification was completed, I could then support the motor with this tool. Another complaint is the red handles if you screw them in too far they make contact with the main bowl that pulls the chain. I would recommend using some type of loctite because this was annoying while using tool. Minus the major engineering flaw on this tool, at the end of the day it did do the job. Just be careful move slowly and once it's up to the desired height shake it like crazy before you stick your fingers anywhere. ... show more

  • Less than ideal
I was able to use this to remove a steering rack once, then it essentially broke for good. For starters, the end plastic pieces mentioned by other reviews broke on me while the engine was suspended. I fixed this with washers and a nut. After removing the steering rack and proceeding to lower the engine, the threads on one of the 'hoists' began to strip. I don't trust my engine on this any more. I will likely investigate upgrading the all-thread hoist mechanism, but it might just be easier renting the tool somewhere else. I essentially only got one use out of this. ... show more
