    • I like it for quick lock ups in safe areas or accessories .
This cable at 7 foot can lock up wheels , seat and frame quick when going in the local store or using a bathroom at a park only feet from your bike for just a few minutes. It is very light and easy to carry on these rides . No this is not security for a bike left unattended in a repeat location for any period of time . I do like it for times I must quickly have something available to lock the bike up in safe locations where I am nearby that are not part of my normal routine . Like using the bathroom in a bike park for less then ten minutes where you could hear someone . Using a motion alarm is a huge plus with it . Any more then that and you must break out the u lock too or bike chains rated at gold level . I now prefer them over the U locks because my new fat bikes have 5 inch tires on them the U bolt cannot go around one as their only 4 inches wide . Expect to pay $100 for a chain and still need a cable or 2 for accessories plus they are heavy , close to 15 pounds but if your leaving a bike in your garage or a rack at the apartment building unattended for long periods of time it is the best way to be sure it is as safe as possible . This is a very light cable that is suppose to be stronger than most due to being intertwined . A large set of bolt cutters could snap it . There are ways you can learn to wrap it so it is harder to get a set of cutters on it . I like it very much but only to keep honest people honest or where you can be back out and on the bike before a thief could react and get a set of cutters to take it . If I were to purchase again I would look for one about 5/8 of a inch which I noticed was on my other bike from another company with the same construction but this is so light I am ok with it for what I want to use it for . ... show more

    • Suffiecient To Deter The Casual Thief
As many other reviewers have said, this is adequate to deter the casual thief. It is long enough to go through the rear wheel, seat, frame and get the front wheel and capture a small secure point, such as a fence post, bike rack, etc. If you want to do all that and capture a tree trunk, you will need additional cable or chain. The eyes can be put inside the shackle of an ordinary padlock. I put both ends in one of those common combination padlocks that have used for lockers. No, their not heavy duty security, but tools can get through the heaviest duty combos made. Bedsides, what are you trying to secure? I'm only trying to deter theft of a $150 bike. No point of spending more for security than you did your bike. ... show more

Perfect length and flexibility for locking up a couple bikes when coupled with a U-lock. For best security, use a u lock around both bikes or around the frame and wheel of a single bike then use the cable to attach to a fixed structure.

I purchased this cable to be able to secure my recumbent trike. I loop one end around the trike frame behind the seat, and the other end can be secured to any solid and immovable object within about a 3-4 foot area, securing it with a padlock. I purchased the Abus 70/45 KD Yellow 40mm Body Solid Brass Padlock with steel shackle for this purpose (Abus 70/45 KD Yellow 40mm Body Solid Brass Padlock with steel shackle). My Catrike is yellow, so the yellow padlock matches well. It also has a rain cover over the keyhole which is a nice feature. This Kryptoflex cable is much heavier than the inexpensive bike cable locks one can purchase as Walmart. It also has a very good rubberized coating. If the cable were any thicker it would not be flexible, so it strikes a good balance between strength and flexibility. It includes a velcro strap that is attached to the cable with a loop. Using the velcro strap I can hang the cable from the back of my recumbent trike. ... show more

    • Serves it purpose - Buy a U-Lock for primary security!!!
DO NOT USE AS YOUR PRIMARY MEANS OF LOCKING YOUR BIKE! Now that we got that disclaimer out of the way, onto the review. I use this to secure my front wheel, rear wheel, and bike seat to my bike U-lock (Abus Mini140). I use the same setup on my wife's bike This should be the only use for any nylon coated wire rope for securing your bike regardless of brand. PROS: +Good length to offer flexibility and allows me to easily secure the front wheel, rear wheel, and bike seat to my U-lock. We also use it to loop to our Burley trailer if we feel it is needed. +I felt the price was fair for the length and gauge. CONS: -None really, just know it's intended purpose. Also, take note that time and time again it has been proven that no flexible wire rope has proven to be better then any other. They are all easily defeated quickly with wire/bolt cutters. Look for the right length you need and a good price. ... show more
