  • Don't take this casually, but it is definitely a serious diy-er capable material.
Size: 1 Pack Style: Foam Cleaner
I'm using this foam to insulate a 10x20 art studio. This is in the neighborhood of 750 square feet to insulate, after openings are subtracted out. I bought a can to learn the gun, how to spray foam and what kind of coverage I can expect with me spraying. I bought a second can to focus on other technique issues. None of this was wasted, as it went onto my walls and roof. It was probably 50% efficiency though. If I spray a pattern of about 1/4 to 1/2" thickness, straight out of the gun. A second coat after a half to one hour seems to get me my target of 2" final insulation thickness. Go online and learn about the gun. I saw a fine home building video that I would rate 5 stars. The product information is plenty good, but don't cut corners. Essentially, adjust the gun down to where the trigger doesn't move, closed, and start with 1 full turn. I may have been running just fine in the 2-3 turns range. I bought a different brand of gun than comes with the Kraken kit. The kraken cleaner is magic- on uncurled foam. Shoot the outside of the gun and load a can of cleaner on the gun and shoot a bit through the gun. The directions are good. Again, don't cut corners. I like the air rightness of foam insulation. We live in a small town, west of Seattle and fiberglass batt insulation seems to be about 50% mare than I think I'll have in foam insulation. As far as the advertised- 20 sq ft per can, I feel like that what I'm getting. I'm sure that by the 3rd project I insulate, I'll have a pretty good program going. Preparation to spray is big. Every hole needs to be closed, even duct taps would seem to do fine. Don't try to spray across and bridge a 1" opening. Even 1/4" openings will have a foam eruption out of it. That is where I'm drawing the line though. I'm shooting both sides of any gap and the foam closes small gaps upon expansion. As far as PPE, the full face respirator, with a disposable face shield, gloves and a ghost buster suit- and not your favorite shoes. I really didn't get and overspray... but I'm still suiting up, especially the respirator. Have your work platforms all figured out. If you're doing a bunch of wall/ceiling, a spray gun (like a paint gun, filled with water may be far easier than a hardware store squirt bottle- figure 20+ quirts in each stud bay). The substrate does not want to be soaking, just moistened. All in all, I'm liking the foam, there is technique and insight needed in the material application. Take it seriously, do some homework and plan on improving performance after a few cans. ... show more

  • Kraken is Fantastic for closed-cell Vapor Barrier!
Size: 12 Pack Style: Insulation Foam Set
This closed cell spray foam fire-rated insulation is a great product, especially once you get the hang of spraying it with setting, distance, sweeping motion required… then it’s a zip. We are insulating the underside of our S.E. Texas home to address rising vapor, to create a barrier. It took a few minutes to get in the swing of it, but the coating to the underside is fast-holding, the layer of insulation is sufficient to make a significant difference to prevent intrusion of rising water vapor or forest fire sparks beneath the house. It provides solid protection. Make sure to use protective gear and to wear safety glasses over your own to not ruin them, and shoes… either wrap them in shoe protectors or protect by using small plastic bags tied over shoes. We feel a difference in floor as temperatures turn cold. No cracks in sprayed product, no drips, product grasps surface very well (for us is wood), and gave consistent coating. Product went further than expected. Clean up of spray tool was easy with the cleaning-can provided in this kit. Definitely ordering more until this big job is finished. Will order from Kraken again. ... show more

  • Great product!
Size: 48 Pack Style: Insulation Foam Set
As far as a DIY foam insulation system, it is excellent. Very easy to use at fair price point. Takes a second to get tweaked to your own personal operating style but after that, it makes quick instant gratification. Only negative which is just happens sometimes is 5 of the cans out of the kit we're defective and would not spray. They did seem as if they had already started expiring. I have already contacted the seller and will update my review soon. But don't let that stop you. ... show more

  • Works well with little to no smell after being sprayed.
Size: 12 Pack Style: Insulation Foam Set
This kit sprays on very well, similar to spraying paint out of a spray gun is the best way I can think to describe it. I put it on in 3 seperate coats, it only took about 10 minutes for it to skim over enough to easily apply another coat. The amount of expansion seems to depend on how heavy to apply the coats. There is virtually no off gassing smell other than a minor odor from the gas that is the propellant in the cans of foam as it is being sprayed on and that dissipates almost immediately. I feel like I got what I was expecting with about a 2' - 2 1/2" inch on average thickness overall with the aforementioned three coats. This is my first time using a product like this so I was learning as I went along. Anyone should be able to do this I would think with a small learning curve. ... show more

  • Lots of $ for a product that does not work as advertised.
Size: 12 Pack Style: Insulation Foam Set
I have worked with larger spray foam systems for 15+ yrs as a professional, which have their own Pro's & Con's but was eager to try this product out once saw an add. Was disappointed from the start unfortunately. The gun is actually a good quality gun but foam itself not so much. I followed instructions and started to foam a T&G kneewall in an attic but could not get a constant pressure from the get go. Nothing like what is shown in advertising, not close. It was like it was a hose system and it kept getting kink. Thought maybe it was just that can and would try another, which is the other downside. It does not cover no where close to the 20LF as mentioned. Possibly if it is spraying correctly but not that I found during using all 12 cans. Good idea for a product, just doesnt work as described. ... show more

  • Works if you get cans that are good
Size: 12 Pack Style: Insulation Foam Set
The PPE they provide is pretty decent and the spray foam works when you're able to dial it in and get pressure right. However, 3 of the 12 cans I received were bad. They all came from the same box and extruded a dark gooey substance instead of spraying. It looks like they cured in the bottle and I am having a hard time getting a replacement for these cans. ... show more

  • This is a must have to keep the spray gun clean for reuse.
Size: 2 Pack Style: Foam Cleaner
This is a must have to keep the spray gun clean for reuse. It does not allow the bond to stick to the nozzle. Without this cleaner you are wasting money.
