  • Very easy to use
Size: 12 Pack Set name: Foam + Gun + Cleaner
These cans of Vega bond are really good. Easy to use and not too messy (on walls). I heated them as required. I moistened where I sprayed, even though it is humid in my area. I applied to walls between 68 and 74 degrees F. I had a fan blowing air out. I also wore the suit and mask. I had really good results on the walls. I had to use lower pressure (less trigger pull) to keep from blowing fresh foam off the wall where I had just sprayed, otherwise so easy to use. I caution against using this closed cell product in walls under sheetrock as I am doing. It does not expand flat, but ends up blobby as other reviewer photos show. I came back on another day and ground off a lot of foam where it protruded past the studs, but still had to touch up voids. Filling voids and filling completely is not necessary, so I really made this project harder. I made a guide for my grinder to rest on the studs and spin a 6" twisted wire cup to grind down the foam flush with the studs. I have to flip it over to get 6 more inches, and then I have a small ridge down the center that can just touch them lightly with a smaller grinder and twisted wire cup brush or belt sander. People reviewing longer saber saw blades said they trimmed the closed cell foam using those by hand after attaching a handle. I wish I did not read that, because I tried and was not successful. Don't think you need this flat for sheetrock. See Spray Jones or other youtuber describing why air sealing of spray foam is superior to fiber fill systems. I would have done the entire room differently if I had seen Spray Jones advice. BTW, I also used the 640 board feet kit with the two tanks from Vega Bond, which is also awesome. The foam on that kit went on more uniformly than these cans in this review. The foam sprayed from the big tank kit is quite a bit tougher and stronger than this purple foam. The purple seems to stick well to the yellow. I really only bought the purple because I was not sure how much I needed, and I thought that I would be spraying it on multiple days. And, as it turns out, my guess was a good one. ... show more

  • Seems pretty good, wish it covered a little more for the cost Seems pretty good, wish it covered a little more for the cost
Size: 1 Pack Set name: Foam + Gun + Cleaner
I'm in the process of sealing my crawlspace myself and I wanted to test this out on the rim joist. I picked up the kit with one can to try. I read about warming the can and misting the wood before application. I used a pitcher with hot tap water and let it soak for about 10min, shaking once or twice. I angled the end of the applicator up and used the angled nozzle to the side to apply. There wasn't a lot of room but I was able to keep it fairly level to apply. I did mist the joist and that seems to make a big difference getting it to stick (works with other spray foam cans from big box stores too). I didn't go over it again but was able to get decent coverage for about 16 feet of joist, just doesnt look to be several inches thick. My primary concern was air sealing and the insulating factor is a bonus. But, I admit it was more than 12" tall. The speed and ease of application makes this a great option. I've used caulk where I can and that takes forever, but cheaper and I can't really get into this area to see what I'm doing. So, warm the cans and mist the wood. I didn't even test before applying since I was so far under the house. I plan to get more and do the rest of the rim joist. If you made it this far, check prices on the actual website. Seems a little cheaper and free shipping too. I'll probably get the 12pack from there next. ... show more

  • Good for spot filling
Size: 12 Pack Set name: Foam + Gun + Cleaner
I am renovating a 100+ year-old house that did not have insulation or moisture barrier. When we removed the old drywall we saw daylight through the red cedar siding. We went with CLOSED CELL spray foam to serve as a moisture barrier and insulation. I used the two-part large canisters, which works very well but we are DIY'ers and some spots were missed. I purchased this product because it is easier to handle and has less chance of waste once the canisters are opened. I found these small cans easy to use, the cleaner works well to keep the gun clean for the next use (this is very important.) You just need to get the hang of spraying / sweeping motion. Watch YouTube videos. I only sprayed enough to seal the siding and came back with bat insulation over it. I was told I was overdoing it but I had the walls open and felt I wanted super energy efficiency. I would not use these small cans to attack a large job. In comparison, the product does dry well but it is a little spongier than the 2-part kind. Overall I am satisfied and it served the purpose I intended. ... show more

  • Awsome dew point barrier!
Size: 12 Pack Set name: Foam + Gun + Cleaner
This reall is a great foam! Just follow the directions for recommended temp and mixing. There is a slight learning curve with application, you gotta try and get it on right first pass, otherwise going over it again before it sets up will blow it out of the way and make a mess. I used it as a dew point barrier on the underside of the roof deck in a small cathedral ceiling with no air flow to prevent condensation, and its performed flawless. I Confirmed this over fall winter and spring before I finished covering the ceiling. Now I know for sure itll remain dry and mold free when its finished! Priceless! ... show more

  • Read tips to save yourself money. They're all equally important.
Size: 24 Pack Set name: Foam Set
Great product. Here are tips: Ensure cans are adequately brought to temp. I warmed them up to 85 degrees overnight. Tricky but it's worth the effort. Ensure surface temp of substrate is over 70 degrees. Doesnt stick to cool surfaces very well. Shake them by duct taping to a sawzall. This increased the performance of the spray by 30% (at least). Sawzall method gave me a smooth, even distribution, and 85% of the can made it to the ceiling. Hand shaking DOES NOT come close to the performance of a sawzall. PRACTICE on the wall but do ceiling first. Use last bit of can that doesnt have pressure for a fan type spray - on the walls. Do thin layers, reapply each layer after 1 hour when fully expanded. Take your time. If you rush it, you will have an uneven thermal barrier. Do cracks and crevices FIRST. Seriously, they're much harder to get if you do this "as you go" or save it for last. Have a nice amount of acetone on standby and order extra cans of gun cleaner. Clean out gun with gun cleaner every 5 or 6 cans. COVER YOUR FLOORS!!! My review: Great product. Nice learning curve. Super messy! I had fun with this project. After 20-25 cans I realized the gun had more than just a clog, no matter what I did I could not get a good spray. I disassembled the gun and noticed some grime built up on the needle, so I soaked the parts in acetone overnight, and cleaned them well the next morning under tap water. Re-assembled gun, and it worked fine after some fidgiting. I got the Great Stuff brand gun as I waited for the room to heat up on day #2 just in case I could not get the Vega Bond gun to work again, and the Great Stuff gun did not have the attachments for fan spray or ceiling so I ended up putting more elbow grease into the Vega Bond gun and got it to work again. I ran out of Vega Bond with maybe 10 feet left, so I went back to Ace Hardware and got the Great Stuff foam, its was garbage. Minimal adhesion, terrible flow, just all around - a big waste of money. Though I will save this and do crack and crevice with it after I get the next round of Vega Bond to finish the project. I ordered about 10-15% more than I needed, but I ended up building out walls more than necessary as I could not get an entire can to go on the ceiling, only the first 60-75% - and I put the remaining foam on the walls. I applied maybe 600 board feet before I figured out the tricks, the first 600 looked like crap but it is going to do it's job. Already, the room is much better insulated that it was before I tore the drywall and insulation out. Not gonna take pics of my handy work, but the last few hundred feet looked pretty good. It takes a lot of patients, and a lot of thin (dry) layers of build up for a nice even coat. Areas where I went fast didnt have great expansion, areas where I took my time- expanded extremely well. Better than I would have expected. Wish I could do it over again, i'd have had plenty left over. I thought I ordered about 10-15% extra, but I easily wasted that just learning. I'd recommend ordering 25% more than needed - maybe more if it's your first go at this stuff. All in all- this was a very fun project. I highly recommend it. Learning curve wasnt toobad. Trying to rush through it was where my mistakes were made. ... show more

  • Quality Control Concerns / Solid Customer Service
Size: 12 Pack Set name: Foam + Gun + Cleaner
Update: After initial 2 star review, VegaBond came through - customer service took care of me and I will order from this company again in the future. ——- I bought two 12-pack sets for a crawl space & end joist project. Unfortunately, even though I calculated the measurements and what this product claims to cover, I still had to order another 12 pack of foam... and probably could have used a few more cans. The first 12-pack was pretty poor quality altogether - spurting cans, bad coverage, cans still contained product but no accelerant, etc. The second 12-pack applied with good coverage, empty bottles, etc. - seemed to be significantly better quality - but still had a couple cans that were similar to the first package. The third 12-pack was also pretty good with exception of several bottles that had the same issues as the first 12-pack. I followed the instructions that were included - moisten surface, warm bottles, used cleaner, etc., but quality was not consistent among the product. For the second and third 12-packs that were decent, I can say that the product is worth the money if all of the product is of that quality. It applied easily with good coverage and didn't have any major issues. I would have considered that the first 12-pack was due to a potential learning curve, but this wasn't my first experience using spray products and the second & third 12-packs showed that the quality varied between the first pack significantly, and were good quality with exception of a few bottles within each pack. Other concerns: Better instructions needed. Even a QR code to better instructions on a website would help. Or an instructional video with this product. I watched a few YouTube videos of similar products to verify instructions. Better warnings & PPE recommendations. I wore a 3M P100 cartridge respirator and had no issues with my airways. I also wore eye protection. However, PPE should be a full face respirator. I developed glaucopsia (painter's haze) due to the amine compounds in the spray foam. Luckily, I was wearing contacts which absorbed the majority of the vapors (rather than my eyes), so after removing them and flushing with saline, my eyes seemed to recover after a few days. The instructions & PPE concerns are minimal suggestions. My rating is based on the quality control issues I experienced. If I were only reviewing the "good" bottles in the second and third 12-packs, I would have rated a 4 or 5. However, due to the quality issues with the entire first 12-pack, a number of "bad" bottles in the second & third packs, and even the fact I had to buy a third pack due to coverage issues, I had to choose a lower rating. Unfortunately, I think I just happened to be the recipient of some inferior product, as this product typically has good reviews. If there were better quality control, I may consider using this in the future... but considering my experience with the product I received, I may consider another product for the other projects (shed & pole barn) on my to-do list. ... show more

Size: 12 Pack Set name: Foam + Gun + Cleaner
This product is extremely inconsistent between cans. I bulk bought it and now I’m wishing I didn’t because it might have to a get ripped out and redone with a better product. Please see my picture of 4 stud bays I sprayed with 4 different cans out of the same box on the same day cleaning between cans. I have over 48 cans of this stuff that I have used and not one batch has been consistent. I’m almost 1000$ in on my garage and am extremely disappointed and frustrated. ... show more

Size: 12 Pack Set name: Foam + Gun + Cleaner
I was going to leave a terrible review as the product was turning out horrible. About half way through, the hose that you attach to the end of the gun blew out. Suddenly it started working properly. Night and day difference. Also make sure you shake the cans HARD. I followed the directions perfectly. Even bought a spray bottle to apply water before the foam. Outside temp is 80F and clear. Applying to the inside of a brand new Amazon metal shed. Will add photos if possible later. Really don't want to look at it again right now. ... show more
