This is my first legitimate helping hands. (I can now let my cousins keep being kids and wont have to make them hold the PCB board steady). At first it was hectic and overwhelming. Trying to position them was a little bit of a challenge. Once I got it positioned right, it made life a lot more easier. My only complaint is that squeaky plastic on plastic sound that is made when moving the arms. This is minus one point for stealth...If im ever trying to hide while soldering something for defense, they will easily find me. Im exaggerating about the last part....I sometimes work on soldering late at night and try to avoid waking my wife. I dont have a extra pair of helping hands to pull me from that situation...

Works well for my purpose. I'm not soldering but I'm using to hold items small items to take photos of them. I don't need all 4 arms typically but the 4 arm model comes with screw in feet that screw into the bottom of each arm. My only suggestion for improvement would be to include some thumb screws so that you can attach the feet without needing to attach an arm with it. I believe the threading on the screws for the feet is 10-32. I was able to get some 10-32 nylon thumb screws and attach the feet without the arms and that is working fine for me. Alternatively the thumb screw that holds the alligator clip on could be the same thread as the one for the feet screws but isn't. That way if I'm not using an arm I could use the thumb screw from it for the foot but you can't do that since it isn't the same thread size. All in all though great product!

Standard set of helping hands, easy to assemble, just screw on the clips, arms, feet, materials are good quality, platform is heavy enough that it doesn't move, the arms don't stay where you put them, so you have to fight with them a bit, which is a pain when you're trying to solder, also wish it came with larger clips, is a little pricey for what you get, but overall satisfied

Attempted to use this to do some microsoldering. The arms would not stay in place. I was genuinely concerned how this had good reviews when the arms were not flexible for me at all. Had amazon replace this with another one... It was clear as day that the first one I received had defective arms. Took off a star for having to deal with defective set. The replacement set/arms work great. Do recommend.

Item Shape: 4 Hands, Heavy Duty Set
This is listed as the heavy duty model, and it delivers on the promise. The articulated arm actually screws into the base plate with a retaining nut on the other side, so the connection is rock solid. Unlike the other models, the flex arms are not static and screwed in as part of the base plate feet.. They have powerful magnets, and give you the ability to place them anywhere on the surface. The magnetic standoff circuit board holders are also quite useful, and tuck to the side of the board when not needed. This is hands-down the highest quality and most useful soldering assistant I’ve used in 40 years. Just one more bit of advice for my fellow nerds, the base plate is powder coated, and it does interfere with screwing in the articulated arm, so you’re going to want to re-tap the hole to get rid of the powder coating. The tap needed is a 1/4 - 20 👍🏼 Obviously if you don’t have access to a set of taps, scraping carefully will do lol
