Also cuts down on the elements like sun and wind. Made of heavy-duty polyethylene mesh with double folded poly sheeting and double stitched edges and corners, making these highly resistant to tearing and ripping. Solid brass grommets are spaced every 2 ft. and on each corner for those times you need to tie down. Based in New York, Kotap America is a family owned business and is proud to be one of the nation's largest distributors of polyethylene tarp products. From the Manufacturer Kotap poly tarps have been sold for more than 30 years. Kotap tarps are made of woven and coated polyethylene that is tear and UV resistant. They are also mold and mildew resistant and will not rot nor shrink. Kotap Mesh Tarps are made from heavy-duty open mesh weave fabric (6.5-Ounceper square yard). This is breathable mesh material, however will cut down on sun and wind. Woven plastic reinforcement is double sewn into the hem and corners to prevent the solid-brass grommets from ripping out. Kotap mesh tarps are appropriate for patio/garden/landscape applications to cut down on sun. They also are used to secure and cover pickup beds, dump trucks, and dumpster roll-off containers.

I bought this last Summer for a new pergola I built on my deck next to my pool for shade. I had my doubts because to me it was just a black net. However, to my surprise, it really added the shade I needed as well as kept the temperature down quite a bit. I took it down for the winter so the snow and cold weather do not beat it up. After going to the local budget freight store and buying their tarps that seemed to always be on sale, I decided to try another brand. The freight store tarps didn't seem to fit my 6x12 dump trailer very well sometimes. Two of the four tarps were a little shorter than the other two and didn't quite cover and the grommets were falling off as well. This tarp has heavier grommets and heavier all around material. I was a little reluctant to try to contain heavier items in the top of the dump when using the freight store tarps because they are so thin, but these tarps will definitely hold larger items fine. These do cost about 15 dollars more, but when you haul dump trailers for a living you'll appreciate the better quality of these tarps. If you ever moved a dump without a tarp you'll know what I mean by the title. Most municipalities require tarps for all loads. The corners of these heavier tarps are reinforced with material too, to keep from tearing. Edge webbing and corner webbing is much heavier as well. Sizing is accurate, so order the correct size you need. The cheaper tarps seem to have memory, by which I mean they do not lay flat anymore and always look messy. Try folding 8 to 10 tarps and making a neat pile with cheaper tarps, not fun. These tarps to date still look good and fold up nicely. I was really looking for something mesh to shield us from the sun and provide shade. This kind of does that. It’s maybe a few degrees cooler under it. But not much. If it was a little thicker I think it would have provided more shade and kept it cooler under my canopy. That being said I couldn’t pass up this mesh tarp. It was exactly the right size and a good price. I hope it lasts the season and I can reuse it next year. Going to cut it off the zip ties and roll it up and pack away for next summer. ... show more

A great use for this type of tarp (open mesh) is as a protective layer between your tent and the ground. Not only is it quite thick so that it protects your tent floor from punctures but it gets rid of the problem of water getting trapped under between your tent and a typical closed mesh tarp (letting the ground absorb water), either from rain or from condensation. Don't use a single layer if the ground is especially rocky or has a gravel surface because the sharp points will work their way up through the open mesh and possibly puncture the tent floor (fold a larger open mesh tarp as needed for a thicker barrier). A secondary use is as a sunscreen or visual screen because you can also see through it but your movement or stored gear will be hard to see. ... show more

    • A tarp that won't leave you in the dumps!

Love the quality and the construction of these mesh tarps. I run dump trailers for construction and need to tarp loads for moving trailers from site to the dump. Tried the regular tarps, whether blue light duty or the brown heavy duty pvc style, but on highway at speeds they tend to fray and eventually fall apart. These heavy duty mesh tarps hold debris in place and don't fall apart. Wind flows through tarp while keeping debris in place. Wind doesn't catch these tarps so the do not get torn apart. Corners are re-enforced with extra material and edges are bound over material with heavy brass grommets making these a winning combination. I've given up on the cheaper ones from the Freight place and will only be using these now. They cost more, but hold up much better. If your running the 7x14 dumps and your siders or roofers continually over load your dumps, you're going to like the 10x16 for this reason alone! Thanks Amazon and Kotap America. ... show more
