I'm a mid-day "nanny" to a 6 month old Husky x GSD. He's young and so full of energy and I'm old so I'm not. We train, we exercise, we wear each other out. I stuff this Kong with fruit, veg and jerky then plug it with almond or peanut butter or carrots and freeze it. This is how we cool down (physically and mentally). Got a couple of terrier mixes, no toy has withstood their chewing for more than a month. Even the red kongs have fallen prey to their jaws. However. I have had a few of these resilient kongs for over 2-3 months and they have sustained only minimal damage. I don't think I will need to replace them anytime soon. My 120lb pitbull usually chews through EVERYTHING in a very short period of time…including the Red Kong line - but the Black Kong line is phenomenal! I’ve bought this and a bone shaped toy almost two years ago and both are still going strong! They do have some wear n tear but it’s minimal considering he plays and chews on them everyday….all day! He absolutely loves them - won’t even go for a walk without one of them! So if you have a SUPER CHEWER like me you NEED to buy this - you’ll be amazed how long it lasts! Love this kong. It’s heavy, durable and can be used to put peanut butter or treats inside. My dog loves the weight of it though it can cause some noise when dropped on the floor (especially if you’re in an apartment). Probably the most long lasting toy my dog has had.

I have a pit bull with a very large mouth, and she struggles with this kong. The next size down is better for her. This is too large for her to comfortably carry around in her mouth. It also has a huge capacity, so if you are using it for a snack or watching your dog's weight, it is best to just plaster peanut butter or whatever you use, aroung the inside walls. This size kong is difficult to clean. Getting tto the bottom groves is time consuming. I regret buying 2 of these. although I am sure they would be fine for a much larger dog. ... show more

Dog LOVES this thing! It makes all kinds of crazy bounces that makes him want to chase it He (Lab mix) loves to carry it and gnaw it, and so far (6 weeks) he hasn't damaged it at all. After a few "fetches" it gets all slimy and sticky -YUK!-with dog slobber, that's my only dislike-not the fault of the toy! Watching the fun my dog has this thing makes it priceless!
