This purchase was part of the quintessential chain of events reminiscent of the children's book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie". The grandkids are getting too old to share a bedroom, so I decided to buy a Japanese futon style floor mattress in lieu of a hard, uncomfortable cot to set up a temporary bedroom in my downstairs office for overnight visits After receiving the mattress, I decided I didn't like having my grandson sleep on the floor, so it tried putting the mattress on top of a camping cot. That wasn't going to work out well and it looked sloppy, so I ordered this bed frame. In my humble opinion, this bed frame is the best of the best that I saw online anywhere as well as being reasonably priced. The frame itself is beautiful, well made and sturdy. Quite a novel idea re: the slats which are assembled on strips of Velcro which adhere to the frame itself--no sliding, no screws. My area of concern is the fact the plywood poplar slats are quite flexible. According to my research, poplar wood is one of the recommended types of wood for bed slats in spite of the fact it is a flexible wood. This still caused me concern the futon mattress was not an appropriate or wise choice and would not be firm enough to minimize pressure on the slats because kids jump on beds. Also, I would have preferred one more slat for better coverage of the mattress top to bottom. This brings me to plan D. I bought a standard 12 inch twin sized mattress for the frame which should distribute weight more evenly on the slats and look tidy. Overall, I would recommend this bed frame because of the overall quality, sturdiness, ease of assembly and the fact it is beautifully made. ... show more

In order to rationalize the space of the room, I purchased this bed frame. I will worry about assembly at first. Because I've never tried assembling bulky items. It turns out my fears are superfluous. That's right, friend. If you are also hesitant because you are worried about assembly problems. Then I hope I can build some confidence for you. The assembly of the bed frame was much simpler than I thought. It only took me twenty minutes to assemble. Let's talk about their quality and stability. The wood of the bed frame is very strong and of excellent quality. Even thoughtfully prepared extra screws. The central part of the bed is wood, you just need to unfold the bunk just fine. The bed frame looks great and is extremely sturdy, with no creaking or wobbling when I move around at night. Assembly was straightforward, with all necessary hardware included and clear instructions. One of the feet in the middle is like 1mm shorter which actually makes it not in contact with the floor, but considering there are 4 middle feet in total I don't think this tiny issue would affect the using. The bed frame arrived well packed in Styrofoam and cardboard. Assembly was done with the included hex tool. They thoughtfully provide a bag of extra screws. Parts are labeled with stickers that match the large text and clear line drawings in the assembly guide. There was no damage. The wood is all solid with no particle board or veneers. Assembly was quick enough and consisted of running screws though pieces connecting them together and then tightening them up. Everything lined up well for me the first shot and the line drawings are clear enough that I didn't make any assembly mistakes. I'm putting a 10" thick foam mattress on this platform and support rib running down the center with the "extra" legs is going to help greatly with all that weight. The media could not be loaded. I needed an additional bed for my work location and this one caught my attention because the price and the fact it was made of real wood. I sometimes prefer wooden foundations because I find they are a little easier to assemble and much easier to move around. It works fine without having to use a foundation mattress and I don't feel the bars underneath. Your experience may vary, as I'm a smaller person and may be different for larger people.
