I purchased an inexpensive look-alike sleep cover for my new Libra 2. I liked it okay, but I found myself wondering if the official one would be any better. If you are wondering the same thing, I can say yes, it is a nicer quality item. The cover looks and feels much nicer, less plasticky. The front of the cover on the official version seems more solid, and stiffer, so less likely to bend in the wrong direction when you use the stand function. I'm happy with the official cover and am glad I purchased it. That said, the third-party cover I bought was "good enough" quality and perfectly functional. It also had plastic edging that encased more of the reader, whereas the official version leaves one edge exposed. Several other reviews called the official cover out for being overpriced. Based on the quality of the cover, I agree. I think it should be closer to $30 than to $40, but the price also wasn't a dealbreaker for me. I'm happier with the official cover, but I wouldn't say there was anything wrong with third-party cover. It just felt "cheaper" to me. But it was cheaper, by about $25! It just depends on what the "quality" factor is worth to you. ... show more

I was skeptical about this case given its price. But when it arrived and I put it on the Libra 2… this thing is beautiful. The “vegan leather” (whatever that is) was manufactured with this odd texture that actually looks really good and adds some realism to the cover. The color is a nice warm blood orange-y red. Not the gaudy radioactive red you get from cheap knockoffs. After trying the Kindle cases as well, where even the official Amazon-made ones are now cheap and low-qualify, this is easily the most worth-it case on the market for an e-reader. Screen protection, a stand, and a grip (though the Libra 2 takes care of that on its own with its nice ergonomic design). The golden 3. This case has all of them and looks and feels great. I didn’t think I’d like it but now I love it. Looks especially good with a White Libra 2. The black one wouldn’t be nearly as well-matched with the color of these cases (or to be honest, any case; the White is always better looking). ... show more

    • Pretty case, nice quality, origami stand is a joke

As a plain case this is fine, albeit pricey. But as a stand case it is useless unless you read in landscape view. The origami stand in portrait view barely raises your Libra off the table and is very wobbly. It is, in fact, totally useless as a stand. I had a kindle origami cover years ago and it worked awesome as a stand unlike this one. I'm keeping this case because it is pretty and is the only case I've found that matches my white Libra 2 nicely. All the knockoff brand ones encase the Libra 2 in black plastic giving it an unpleasant look. This one has the lavender pleather all the way around the edges so the case looks nice and has one edge free so the white Libra looks like that pages of a book with a lavender cover. Totally silly, diva reason to keep a case, but I read enough that I feel I should enjoy how my reader looks. ... show more

Differences between the $39 SleepCover and the $29 Basic SleepCover (this case) that aren’t mentioned in the advertising: SleepCover: - Faux leather wraps all the way around the case - The right edge and corners of the device are uncovered Basic SleepCover: - Faux leather on the front, textured plastic on the back - All edges and corners of the device are covered except for the USB-C port The $39 SleepCover’s uncovered edge makes the device more comfortable to hold and easier to remove from the case.
The score lines that enable the cover to be folded into a stand also make it easier to open and close. The $29 Basic SleepCover offers more protection due to all edges and corners being covered by the case. ... show more

I bought this cover for my Kobo. I thought it would be a good accessory to protect the reader when reading outside the house. And it is. It is protective and not too much added weight or bulk. But I'd like to remove it when reading at home and that is a challenge I haven't figured out yet. Some people say bend a corner but that doesn't seem to work for me. So for now my Kobo is protected in this cover inside and out. It really needs to come with removal instructions. ... show more

Don’t waste your money on the cheaper off brand cases. I bought a few other off brand cases figuring they were all the same outside of price. I was wrong. This case is sleek, is premium feeling and well made. I strongly recommend you forego the other cases and spend the extra money. It’s worth it

    • Honestly us Kobo Libra 2 users don't have too many options as of writing this.

Pros: It does what it does, it makes the Kobo a bit thicker/bulkier. while that may be an issue it makes the device feel far less flimsy and even more comfortable. Plus the feature of putting the device to sleep by closing the case is a nice quality of life improvement over using the back power button. The origami stand is a cute feature. Now, the cons are that this is wayyyy too pricey for what it is. At 40 bucks it isn't the most satisfying purchase. But there is severe lack of 3rd part support for Kobo cases, so in many cases this is the only option. Also the surface of the device isn't as smooth as pictured, there are many wrinkle lines on the cover, which you can only see up close and in a bright light setting. Its only cosmetic though. Over all a fine cover that will protect your device well. I would recommend if you take your device outside often. PS: we need way more color options in the future. the current selection is abysmal. ... show more
