These knives seem cheap. Very light weight and thin. You have to remove them straight up out of the block versus at an angle so they can't sit directly under an upper cupboard. Very cheap scissors. Look nice and very sharp.

This set is sharp so you will not be disappointed. The black coating makes this set looks modern and contemporary. This is an excellent value and is a great set for college students or someone that is living in their own for the first time. Great starter set!

The media could not be loaded. This is a nice starter set. There is a good selection of kitchen knives, as well as six steak knives and kitchen shears. The non-stick black blades and handles have a nice, modern look. I like the matching black wooden storage block with the built in knife sharpener (see video demonstrating the sharpener). The build-quality of the knives in this set is good, with the sculpted handles being well attached and easy to grip. The blades arrived well-sharpened and ready to use. Although these are dishwasher safe, I prefer to handwash the knives to maintain the edge longer; I suspect this will also protect the handles from losing their flexibility over time. The included Santoku knife is probably the best piece in the set; it is easy to use and holds an edge well, making very smooth cuts – see, for example, the photos illustrating how well it created very thin slices of cherry tomatoes and the finely-diced red bell peppers and zucchini. On the other end of the spectrum, the serrated steak knives – while being very functional - tend to “saw” the meat rather than “slice” it (see photo). At this price point, given the quantity of pieces and their overall quality, this knife set is a good buy.

I was looking for a nice new set of knives, when I came across this and was immediately struck by how elegant the black finish looked. Of course, beauty is only skin deep and quality was more important, so I read the details and decided to give it a try. The set includes a nice assortment of various knives from a great chef's knife and bread knife, to six steak knives and a sharpener built into the block. They are solid in the hand, and nicely sharp, with comfortable handles. I feel confident these will last a long time and make prepping food a pleasure. Definitely would recommend.
