  • Relatively easy install & good deal for the money
Size: 12,000_208/230V
Let me start by saying I am not an HVAC tech. But I bought this with the intent to install it myself & then let a licensed HVAC company do the final steps (vacuum lines, check for leaks, proper pressure, etc.). Never have I installed one & I am happy to report it is in & working! Took me about an afternoon to install excluding the time to install the electrical circuit. Would have taken less with a helper, but it's doable for just one person. So far it is heating very well...yesterday we had temps in the upper 20's with high winds, and it kept my wife's 300 square foot cabin (that has 7 windows) comfortable at 68 degrees. Spent some time in the cabin priming the walls today & although there was no wind today, it was still in the upper 20's, and the unit heated the cabin pretty quickly (around an hour from 46 degrees - the "freeze protection" temp - to 70 degrees). Very quiet system! Now I just have to wait for summer to return to see how the AC side of things work. All in all, a nice system, good value for the money. ... show more

  • Great split system unit! klimaire
Size: 18K BTU_208/230V
I like the easy to install with this unit that is supported by the on duty, easy to contact and personal concern by the tech center for Klimaire that they gave me with my 18,000 btu system. What a professional well built unit that has been giving me the comfort that I was hoping to receive from it. The heat mode is a real comfortable heat that brings the desired temperature very quickly and the cool mode produces a real cooling temperature with out struggling to reach it. Now for the cons about this purchase. The con is that I wish I would have bought this unit long before now. Thank you Klimaire for well built system at a fair and reasonable purchase price from Amazon. ... show more

  • Saves money over the window shakers
Size: 12K BTU_115V
I got 2 12K BTU to replace 2 12K and 1 9K window shakers, went from a $350ish electric bill down to a $160-180 electric bill. I used to run a 12K and the 9K just to cool the main floor of my 100 year old house (900 sf) and if it was 90 outside my living room was 80 with a 12K window shaker set to 65 and all other rooms closed off. I moved the 12K window shaker to replace the 9K due to the mini-split cooling the whole house, and even making it colder. Most the time I have it set to 70 and when it dips down to 70 at night I wake up to a 65 degree house. Which is nice when its 80 outside. I don't really use the heat side of it as much as the AC side, but it did work and was pretty hot coming out. Most the time I have to see if its turned on due to how loud the window shaker was. Pretty easy to install, I do AC work on cars so I have the pump and manifold to do the work. I did over kill on the wiring (8 gauge) with a 20 amp breaker. Figured I would wait a year to see how it would pay for itself, and saving $100-150 a month for the past 6 months says they do. Now if only I can talk my sister into dumping her 18K window shaker for a mini-split. ... show more

  • Sailboat install..
Size: 12,000_208/230V
Installed a 9k on my 30'catamaran, best buy ever. My central OceanAire system is 5k, and this unit cools & heats 10x better. Both running, ices the cabin. Dehumidifier feature is great!! Purchased four mini split systems for various uses, happy as heck.

  • PERFECT!!! Best purchase I'm made in a long time.
Size: 18K BTU_208/230V
We purchased this unit for our 34 foot 5th wheel camper that we use as a summer get-away place. Our old roof air unit just didn't keep it very cool and also it was starting to have some minor issues and frequent repairs. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this unit. It was easy to install and works perfectly!! It Cools very quickly has lots of features, and moves the air well in the camper even down the hallway to the bedroom and bathroom, I could not be happier with my purchase. I am almost looking forward to seeing how the heating feature works in the colder months that are coming very soon. If our home heat pump ever dies, I will seriously consider replacing it with a couple of these units, I am that happy with it. <3 ... show more

  • Wow! - runs great, quiet, installed it myself.
Size: 12K BTU_115V
Runs great and is quiet. So far have only used for heating and while we have it in the living room of a small house (heating about 550 sq feet) with Kitchen, living room, and dining room; it is heating the upstairs as well so we actually are getting enough heat for a 12,000 sq foot house. Having said that, the temp outside hasn't gotten much below 32 degrees yet. It is easy to keep the heat over 85 if you want. (We tested it) Install was pretty easy if you take your time. We installed it in a 100 year old home to avoid the cost of installing a traditional heat pump and running ducts. You'll need a 2.5" hole saw for your drill and a stud finder, the rest are basic tools, wrenches and screwdrivers. I took one star off for the instructions which were not very good and kept me guessing or second-guessing. Look at some youtube videos. That helped. If you don't have a professional do the final part, you will need to either rent or buy a vacuum pump and gauges to evacuate the lines/testing for leaks before letting the Freon (supplied) into the system. I borrowed the vacuum pump from the AutoZone tool loaner program. Actually it was pretty easy if you don't overthink it. Most folks will want a professional to do the Freon part which only took about 30 minutes (most of that was waiting to ensure no leaks. Using a Professional is probably the smart way to go since if you have a leak and lose the Freon, you'll be calling them anyway. So.. the insurance is worth a service call for a few minutes of time. I didn't do that but then again, I'm pretty handy and am more adventurous than most. I also did my own electrical work. My son in law is a master electrician and I felt confident that I could use him if I got into trouble. I didn't (btw make sure you buy/install a outside cutoff switch panel (required by most code). My install time was about 8 hours (because I second guessed myself a lot plus I bought and installed a PVC Decorative Line Cover Kit for $49 which made the whole installation look professional. That part took most of the time. Also, the 100 year old home fought back a bit (plaster and lath walls and irregular placing of studs). A AC professional would probably charge you for 4 hours for two people so you could probably be charged almost as much as the unit itself in installation costs. Plus they'd also want you to have the electrical already done. If you're handy with tools, the installation wasn't hard. Again, look at some youtube videos. Either way, it seems like a good unit. I especially like that it is quiet both inside and outside the house. Oh, in case you're wondering, I did have my electrical work checked out by the son in law anyway. I hope this review helps anyone looking at this product and/or installation. ... show more
