I was looking for a pendant light to mount in our stairwell that extends 3 floors. The cost for some of the ones I found were astronomical. I came across this one on Amazon and was honestly a bit skeptical. It was cheap and it is hard to tell by the pictures if it is a quality product or not. The reviews convinced me to give it a try. I am sure glad I did. I ordered the 7 pendant light fixture. The size of the mounting plate is perfect. The picture here can be a bit misleading. They show a bracket that needs to be drilled into the ceiling. That is the bracket for the 14 pendant light. The 7 string fixture comes with a standard sized round mount that screws directly into a standard sized ceiling electrical box. No drilling is required. 2 screws and the mount attaches to the electrical box like any other light. The mount then has extension arms that extend about 2" in each direction that has 4 screws that are used to attach the round top plate. The screws that extend through the bracket are a bit tricky to install. They need to perfectly align with the holes in the top plate. The first thing I did was mount the screws in the bracket and align them with the top plate (before installing anything). It is a lot easier aligning the screws on the ground than up on a ladder. They need to be spaced exactly right or it would be impossible to attach the top plate. It would have been nice to have the screws welded in the right spot, but those details add cost. Take your time and get the screws to align and the rest of the project is easy as pie. The next step was to install the wires. I'm not sure why people comment on this being difficult. The directions have very clear pictures on how the wires are inserted into the top plate. Each wire I received was cut to the proper length and individually plastic wrapped with the length in centimeters. The larger the number the longer the wire... Mounting wires is easy. Start with the longest wire (highest number) and work in a circular pattern to the shortest wire. Do one wire at a time. Do not remove the plastic wrap that has the length on it until you are installing it. The wires could get mixed up, which may be why others have had issues. Installing wires took maybe 10 minutes. A side note on wire length. These wires are long. The wires can be easily cut down. I've seen some people talk about measuring the wires from the end and adding 6" to each strand. Measuring from the end where the light is accurately can be tricky. If you need to cut the wire down measure from the end where the bare wires are. Since the wires are already cut to a length to give the proper spacing, if you cut the same exact amount off of the end of each wire the spacing will be preserved. I think this is a lot easier than trying to accurately measure and can be done by yourself. If you do cut the wires down, however, just make sure to leave about 4-5" longer than what you want to show. The wires need to meet in the top plate. If you forget about this your wires will be 4-5" shorter than what you wanted. The only thing I did not like about the fixture is the connector they provide that is used to join all of the wires together in the top plate. It is a press in junction box that does not work well with the fine wires from the lights. I believe that using the wiring block they provided could result in shorts or lights not working. The easiest way to connect the wires is with standard wire nuts. Each light has wires. Connect all of the lights together so you have two ends that have all of the lights attached. Then use two wire nuts to hold them in place. To make the final electrical connection to the house, I added two pigtail wires to the strands. It is easier up on a ladder to connect the two pigtails vs trying to connect to the large wire bundle. I cut the pigtails off of the wire block provided and used them. I think this is a more reliable connection. This light is heavy after being fully assembled. Taking it down to fix a lose wire would be a pain. The quality of the components are very good. The crystal balls are solid as a rock. They will last for eternity. The ceiling plate is a gloss silver that actually looks very nice. The vendor will customize any part of this light if you ask them. They can do white plates, black plates, bronze, etc. They can change the wire color as well. It comes stock with clear. Email them through Amazon and tell them what you want. I asked them a few questions and they responded quickly. We cannot stop looking at this light. It truly is beautiful. The balls glow and you cannot see the bulbs. The inside where the bulbs mount is frosted. This is a very well made light that would look good just about anywhere.

We bought and installed this about a year ago in our main entryway to the house. We got the one with 36 lights and a round base. Everyone that sees it has said how amazing and cool it looks. It looks far better, brighter, and more modern than the traditional old one that was original to the house. It is not currently on a dimmer switch, but we will probably do that in the near future. One thing to keep in mind with this is that it can/will take a *very long time* to get it set up and hung. We were originally going to have our contractors that were doing our main floor remodel install this, but we fired them after other unrelated quality, communications, and scheduling issues and did it ourselves. We are fairly handy and generally comfortable with electrical, plumbing, and light construction work. We have also installed many other light fixtures and ceiling fans before. This one was by far the most complicated and time consuming! Setup: The pre-wiring of all the hanging bulbs took around 4 hours because we had to get all the wire lengths correct and connected in the base. This involved a lot of measuring, making sure the lengths looked randomly random, and then finally testing the wiring *before* we actually got the scaffolding and hung it from the ceiling. As a precaution, we carefully and neatly twist tied all the wiring in the base to keep it from moving around and to keep it compact and organized. If by some small chance it needs work in the future it would be much easier. We also left a good amount of extra wire up in the base in case we want to change the lengths later. Maybe into a spiral or something years down the road. Installing: Hanging it required scaffolding and took three of us about 2 hours to finish. Two of us were up top mounting the metal frame that the base attaches too and everything hangs from. The other person was on the ground helping with anything else. It is all very heavy, and needless(?) to say you should attach the acrylic balls after everything is hung. Also, be sure to *not* take the protective clear plastic off until it is securely hung to prevent scratches directly on the metal. Oops. Minor issue: We did have to contact the seller to get a new set of instructions since "we" (our contractors mentioned above) lost the original papers at some point. I mention this because the PDF the seller sent was a very low resolution/compressed. It was difficult to see some of the details in the wiring diagrams, mounting instructions, or read some of the text. I would only take a half star off if that were an option. I would gladly get another light fixture like this if/when we have a place for one.

We purchased the 26 round ball model. Very important installation directions were totally missing from the instructions. The main support bracket is 'X' shaped with a center round section that sits in the typical hexagonal electric box outlet. The installation kit does not come with those 2 screws to fasten the center of the hanging X bracket into the 2 screw holes of the electrical box nor does it ever mention it at all. I bought my own two screws (and added small washers to better support the X bracket to the electrical box). Also it came with 4 'problematic' screws that are shown to be inserted into the drywall through that X bracket. The point is that the X bracket is not very strong and needs to to be supported near the end point of the 4 X ends with robust drywall anchors so I bought standard drywall anchors to use near each of the 4 ends of the X bracket. This is critical. Also the kit comes with a wire cutter tool and a crimp tool which is great. It never shows where the crimp tool is used. In fact it is very important because every wire has been attached to a connector (in my case with 26 lights means 52 connections). These connectors then are inserted into the receptacles of multiple link couplers. One other issue is that there are four nuts to support the base plate by the 4 bolts at the X bracket ends. However, these 4 nuts are not deep enough to push the base plate flush against the ceiling so I needed to add about 3-5 5/16" washers (SAE #12) washers at each screw. After all these issues, we got it to look great and very happy with the result.
