The only thing about this toaster that I don't love is the warning bell to tell you that your toast is done; it sounds like your smoke detector is going off. We've gotten used to it but it was a little jarring the first couple of times. If you have a light sleeper or a baby in the house, be warned!

    • Our last one lasted more than 13 years
My husband came with this toaster. It was the only truly superior kitchen item he came with. He had some other kitchen gadgets for his bachelor lifestyle, most of which eventually got donated because everything I picked was better. But this toaster was absolutely everything anyone could want or need in a toaster. You could put a piece of toast in and it would come out toasted - every time. This toaster never gave us any trouble. It lasted 13 years after I met him. He can’t remember how long he had it before that. We were so satisfied with its ability to toast bread reliably that we replaced it with one exactly like it when one side finally stopped popping up when it was done. Notably, the other side was still fine. We donated it to a friend who assured us she never needs to toast four pieces of toast at the same time anyway. I bet it will keep on going until the energizer bunny finally runs out of juice. In another two decades we’ll be buying another exactly like it I guess. It’s a really decent toaster. ... show more

    • Good, but Slow, Toaster
I like this toaster enough that I also bought the 2-slice version (to be our gluten free toaster). But it has some quirks. First, it is very slow compared to our previous toasters. Put in your bread or bagel and go to the bathroom or something and the toast will be done around the same time you are. When finished it makes a loud beep - which sounds enough like our smoke alarm that it startles me every time I toast something. Lastly the darkness setting is perfect either in the middle or one up from the middle on the dial. When I toast bagels I have it on one up from the center and the bagels come out just dark enough (I like a little bit burned here and there). What I don't understand is there are 3-4 further levels of darkness you can select. I can't imagine these not burning the crud out of whatever you are toasting. But it's not much of a problem - just try the middle setting first and go from there. ... show more

    • Great toaster!
We bought this as a replacement to the same exact toaster we had for about 5 years. We used it constantly and one slot was seeing too much heat burning the edge of the toast. So we bought another one. We got our money's worth out of the old one and expect to do so with this one.

    • Not what it used to be
We had a Kitchenaid toaster before this one and it lasted 12 years without issue. We bought this one and you could tell right away the quality was not the same. It was light as a feather while our old one was heavy. We have been using it now for 4 weeks and it is completely inconsistent with toasting. On setting 1 it will either not toast enough or burn. We thought maybe it needed a period to dial in or something so we have stuck with it, but now we're ready to move on to a different toaster and chalk this up to a waste of money because it is not getting better. I don't know what happened to go from a great product to a garbage product, but this is a cheap terrible product. This has made me think differently about the Kitchenaid brand.     • Perfect & works wonderfully!
Pros: Works wonderfully. I find the bread and English Muffins toast amazingly, even my child has commented on how much better her English Muffins are when toasted now! I found the price reasonable, has the finish I wanted in my kitchen. Love that I can toast two servings of bread at a time (4 slices). I love that I don't have to deal with any digital settings, less things to break! Works great, fits well in my kitchen. I am very happy! Cons: Just wish there was a better way to store the extra cord when I plug this in. The cord is very long. ... show more
