Makes espresso shots as good as I could pull with my portafilter machine and I love the automatic true double shot capability. I’m not going to expound on how great the espresso is or isn’t, that’s too subjective, I think it’s great but to each his own. And with all the online info covering capabilities and specifications I won’t address that either. I will say it is a well-made machine, maybe not perfect (who is) but what I would call a high-end solid piece of equipment. However… there are a lot of reviews I believe related to a common issue of clogging, I have experienced that so I’ll tell you what I know. After a week or so my first unit developed bad issues with the brew head clogging daily, after just 2 or 3 pulls. Sometimes during extraction little or nothing would come out then it would explode with a loud POP! and steam would come billowing out the side. Had to remove and rinse the brew head in the sink every day to keep it happy. KitchenAid actually sent a new unit with one easy phone call. The replacement unit works great and it doesn't clog as bad or as often. It will clog after about a weeks worth of brewing (minimum 2 shots a day). I assume this is normal? If you pull more shots a day then it will clog sooner. For my use, pulling the brew head and rinsing in the sink weekly keeps the operation and extractions consistent, it's not a big deal and is recommended anyway. I see a lot of reviews describing smoke or steam coming out the side, water leaking and reduced or no espresso volume. I’ve had all these issues and it was just the brew head getting clogged causing overpressure and water/steam escaping. Pulling the brew head and cleaning with a rinse in the sink should restore normal operation and extraction. I found running the automated brew head cleaning process on the machine didn't help, it's good for flushing the lines and dispenser head but not really cleaning all the grounds from the brew head. Most every “super auto” espresso machine has easily removable brew heads for this reason and is going to require a manual cleaning / rinsing but how often in comparison I don't know. Should have gotten a super automatic along time ago. We did not because we are picky about maintenance and aesthetics as well as coffee quality. The black looks amazing on our black countertops, the maintenance is trivial with freaking animated pictures, and the coffee quality is fantastic. There are a couple tiiiiny niggles like I wish I could save more than one version of the same drink in my profile (small drink x, large drink x) but you cannot. Easy enough to work around by creating a large profile and a small profile but tbh we have never bothered. Top quality in every way. Could not be happier

Very disappointed. After many years of enjoying being a home barista with fancy Italian double boiler machine, we moved into an apartment with a small kitchen. No room for my coffee bar. My wife is a coffee or americano drinker but doesn’t have the patience for a semi-automatic. So we decided to get a fully automatic. I narrowed the search down to KitchenAid, De’Longhi and Jura. We decided on the KF8 based on favorable reviews and the ability to easily switch beans. After getting the KF8 on my counter, I went through the startup process. It failed with a “filling in progress” message. And never got past that point. I tried all the suggestions on the web with no luck. I then contact KitchenAid support. The support agent was responsive but not very knowledgeable about the machine. She seemed to be reading scripts which did not help. And then putting me on hold to talk to someone that was more knowledgeable. Finally she said they were going to send me a new water tank as that “might” be the problem. She said it would be take 5-7 days. If that didn’t work then I could exchange the machine. I said that it was unacceptable to pay $2,000 for a machine that is dead on arrival and then wait 2 seeks or more before I get a cup of coffee. The least they could to is overnight the part but they declined. I immediately returned it to Amazon where I purchased it. I’m disappointed that a received a defective machine and surprised that KitchenAid has such weak customer support. I will likely now try a De’Longhi or a Jura.

LOVE this machine. It is so easy to use and keep clean. The machine automatically does a cleaning every time it is turned on or powers off. Results are very consistent. Large water reservoir and bean hopper. Your biggest chore is emptying the drip tray and used puck receptacle which takes only seconds. If you want great coffee but don't want to make preparing a cup of coffee your hobby, you should definitely check this machine out.

We just got this machine yesterday (10/01/25 and I’m blown away! From the moment I unboxed it, it felt like a premium product. The setup was surprisingly simple, and once it was ready, it pretty much did everything for me. The espresso comes out smooth, rich, and with a perfect crema every single time. I’ve already tried lattes and cappuccinos, and the milk frother makes them café-quality with zero effort. It’s literally push-button convenience without sacrificing taste. I also love how sleek it looks on the counter—modern and stylish, but not oversized. Cleaning is easy so far, which is a big plus compared to other machines I’ve owned. If you want amazing coffee at home without the hassle of grinding, tamping, and guessing, this is the machine to get. I honestly can’t believe how effortless it makes the whole process. Choosing a fully automatic coffee maker in this price range was difficult. After much research we decided on the KF8 and never looked back. It has been in use now for well over a year now and the KF8 has been 100% reliable the entire time. My wife loves the hoppers that easily allows her to switch out to her flavor of the day. Plant based milk option is great as we use almond milk for our latte drinks. We have been very happy with this purchase.

I researched for awhile and chose the K8 because it was fully automatic, was marketed for plant based milk and I didn't want to become a barista. I'm not a coffee snob. I'm content with a simple black coffee, but I really love lattes and finally splurged on this machine. Packaging was great. The heavy unit arrived safe and sound. It was quick and easy to set up. The machine is very quiet when grinding the beans. What the instructions and videos do not mention is how much water ends up in the tray below. I thought it was leaking. A call to customer service was great. They explained there WILL be water ending up in the tray even if you never see it spill out of a cup. (There is a rinse cycle every time you turn on and off the machine.) We could never get the lattes tasting very good. We have several roasters within a short drive so the beans are fresh roasted the day of purchase. The lattes always tasted a bit bitter or chalky no matter what grind setting was used or what brand/flavor of beans was used. Water is from a quality Reverse Osmosis system. I tried 6 different brands of coconut milk with all different fat levels. The coconut milk never foamed. I don't drink HOT coffee. I wait 10-15 minutes for it to cool. I could drink the latte immediately after it finished brewing. If I waited even 5 minutes after brewing, it was too cold. It got to the point where I immediately microwaved the latte for at least 1 minute to heat it up long enough to get into the car and drive away while it was still warm. Even though it was not making lattes very well, I planned on keeping the machine. Less then 1 month of ownership, I started noticing that the output volume levels were different even though I poured it into the same travel size cup every day. And the lattes were tasting worse. I clean the milk system after every latte made and I keep the whole machine clean. Even after performing extra cleaning sessions on the whole machine, the machine started only dispensing about 1 oz of milk instead of 4 oz or 6 oz whether it was a latte or frothed milk setting. Water will flow through the milk frother unit and I have cleaned it with tiny pipe brushes. Customer service was great but the machine is new to them too so they don't have a lot of experience to offer any other suggestions other than send it back for a new one. I am sending it back and may purchase another one in a few months after they work the kinks out of it.
