Overall: A solid, well built machine that is highly adjustable, easy to clean, has a great UI and makes very good espresso drinks. The details: > Learning all the settings and adjustments takes some time, but will pay off. > Try different beans then stick with what works … unless you like the experimentation process you need to go through to ‘tune’ each bean. > Temperature of the drinks is a personal preference and this machine may not be able to meet your needs if you like piping hot drinks. For us, it’s perfect. > Once you’ve worked to get the right settings and right beans to produce a great drink, you’ll gladly incorporate the bit of extra care and tending that this machine requires. > When the drip tray is pulled out, the front cover assembly (with the stainless steel grate) was clumsy for us to remove. We removed the right and left rubber grommets that the front cover inserts into and that solved the problem with no loss in functionality. (see photo) > We clean the unit every day, do the recommended descaling, deep milk cleaning and brew unit cleaning every time the UI says it is needed and we have not had any problems with the unit. > This is not a coffee drinkers machine. It does very well pulling espresso shots and can do decent Americano drinks with the right settings and right bean. Note: The ‘coffee’ setting could not make anything we would like to drink no matter what we did with the settings. > Lifeboost Espresso and Volcanica Espresso (available on Amazon) are our goto beans. Expensive, but they produce great shots and are the only beans we have used that will produce a good Americano when we want one. > Cleaning products available on Amazon: Urnex Cafiza Espresso Machine Cleaning Tablets (use one tablet for brew unit cleaning) -and- IMPRESA Coffee Machine Descaler (use 4oz for descaling) Conclusion: ‘Fully Automatic’ means this machine should produce the results you want with the press of a button, but only if you spend some time experimenting with settings and beans, and you take the time to keep the machine running properly. If you do, this machine will not disappoint!

We upgraded from a Phillips 4300 and this machine is a complete game changer and well worth the extra few hundred dollars. The user interface and screen are much nicer and easier to use. The machine also prompts you when to do all maintenance and cleanings, which is super helpful. The brew unit is easy to remove and clean there are way less nooks and crannies to worry about. It also stores way more water in the reservoir, same with the disposed pucks container. Not to mention there was no break-in period, Unlike the Phillips, which took forever to dial-in. The drinks taste amazing and are much hotter than what the Phillips was able to produce. As far as the milk frothing and warming goes, I have no issues. The texture is amazing. I also appreciate how large the milk container is and how easy it is to use. The fact that it’s “separate”, unlike the Phillips, doesn’t really matter because you’re gonna put the milk container from either device in the fridge anyways. The only difference is there is one extra step in attaching the hose to the KitchenAid. Which I feel is a fair trade-off given how much larger the milk container is and it’s easier to clean. Also, the bean hopper is great because it never jams which I’ve had nothing but issues with the Phillips. It’s also super easy to remove to replace the beans. I have just enough clearance under my cabinets (18” from countertop to cabinet) to remove the bean hopper. Lastly, it’s way quieter. I’m running out of good things to say at this point. I’m no espresso snob by any means but I love this machine. Oh…and the kitchenaid just looks way nicer.

This is a very high priced piece of junk. Worked for a couple of months and then quit making coffee. It sprays the water into the collection tray instead of pushing the water through the ground coffee. Total failure! It’s a big heavy unit that I now have to pack up and send out for service….and it’s only a few months old. Do yourself a favor….don’t by this POS.

*This review was written after a month of 3-10 coffee drinks a day use.* I've wanted an espresso maker for years and always talked myself out of the expense. After a huge amount of deliberation, decided that automatic was the best way to go for my family, so everyone can use it easily. We all love it and the wide variety of coffee drinks it can make. It brings joy to my mornings. The ease of use was probably the biggest selling point for me. Love that is does a milk rinse and machine rinse so regularly. Deeper cleaning is a little more time consuming, but incredibly easy as well. The machine does take up a good amount of counter space, so be prepared for that. It at least look nice and clean. I wish the coffee/milk temp was higher. That was a complaint I saw on other reviews, and it's correct. If you're drinking a milk drink especially, preheat your cup to help temp regulation. A little annoying, but not a deal breaker. Overall, very happy with this splurge.

My previous Super Automatic Coffee maker did not get the coffee hot enough. It was difficult to pull away from the wall for cleaning and was starting to leak. After researching and reading reviews, I purchased this Kitchen Aid coffee maker. I'm glad I did. It has all the features my other coffee makers were missing. **Pros:** - I'm happy with this purchase! This coffee maker makes good HOT coffee! - I love the milk attachment. It heats the milk up for a really hot cup of coffee. - The unit has wheels in the back so it can easily be pulled forward to clean. - It has a very nice color touch screen. - The touch screen easily reminds you, and walks you through all the cleaning processes. - This unit has a removable and changeable bean hopper. This is a nice feature if you have a variety of beans you want to switch between. - One of the best features is having user profiles that can store all your customized drinks. - Many more cool features! Love this unit. **Cons:** - My only negative is there isn't much guidance on what cleaners to use for the different cleaning processes. It shows you need a cleaner but doesn't tell you what to use. It does come with some tablets, but there is no information as to what they are used for in most cases.

The product is well made, looks good and makes a good espresso but the water and milk aren’t hot enough if you make any of the other pre programmed drinks. I wanted to love this machine and so much of it is good but this is obviously a major limitation. The interface is intuitive and easy to clean and I don’t understand why kitchen aid product development folks didn’t flag the tepid temps as something they needed to improve as it ruins the functionality of the machine. If the machine was half the price then you could probably forgive its shortcomings because it looks and feels great but spending this amount on a machine I don’t think wanting something that can do more than make a warm cup of coffee is too much to ask.

Works beautifully right out of the box. My issue with espresso machines in that past has always been the temperature of the drink. I will admit that I like my drinks to be hotter than is recommended by the experts but I think that might be a cultural thing. This machine gets plenty hot for my liking. It certainly gets hotter than my pod machines and my manual espresso machine. No notes. I highly recommend this for the ease of use, ease of cleaning, and quality of brew. All the drinks are great. I say it's a good value for the money.

This unit is well made and the manual and menu selections are defined well. Here is my issue with it: I purchased it in order to have a one step method of making a Starbuck's type Cappuccino in a 12 once cup. It will not do this simple request. The Cappuccino selection will only make an espresso shot stile cup of coffee and then it adds milk. Too little coffee and too much milk. The Americano selection will make a full cup of coffee but will not automatically add milk and frothing. Seems kind of silly to have an automatic machine that requires me to stand over it and continue to make menu selections to get milk and frothing. Also, after milk and frothing, the machine requires a milk cleanse. I understand the need for this but the machine requires the operator to put another container under the dispenser while it runs at least another 2oz of water through the system to clean the milk out. Well, now that's another two steps at the automatic machine. ie. put the cleanse container in place and then remove it after the cleanse process. Way too many steps for an automatic cup of coffee. I returned it.
