It’s a KitchenAid what can I say? Great size well-made. My other one lasted 20 years. Hopefully this one does too.

  • Mixer is top notch, heavy weight mixer champ, but cheap bowl & unpleasant to use Mixer is top notch, heavy weight mixer champ, but cheap bowl & unpleasant to use
After my 1950s KitchenAid mixer from my late mother was broken during a move in the mid 2000s, it was many years before I got a replacement. I've had my 4.5qt tilt head KitchenAid mixer since I bought the 100 year anniversary edition in 2019 after having saved up for years to afford a new one. But there's a reason KitchenAid mixers are so pricey. They'll be the last mixer you'll ever buy, unless you decide to add the 5.5qt lift stand mixer to your kitchen, like I have. After using my new 5.5qt mixer several times now, I can definitely say that the 4.5qt is still my preferred mixer for everything except bread dough, and that's where the larger 5.5qt mixer excels and will be my dedicated dough mixer. Here's why. I found the 4.5qt much easier and quicker to remove the bowl without having to remove the mixing attachments. Just tilt the head up, grab the bowl handle and twist to unlock and pull the bowl. It also has a much nicer bowl handle that's tubular with no edges, making it easy to hold, even when the bowl is very heavy. It's easier to clean and maintain. The oil is contained within the space when the top is lifted and so it's very rare to find flour or splashback folding it's way into this little nook. The 5.5qt mixing bowl has an ⅛" metal handle that's literally just a bent strip of metal and the edges have been filed so they won't slice your hand, but if you're trying to hold the bowl even while empty, this handle is not what you want to be holding as it's like gripping the backside of a butcher knife; it's not sharp, but it doesn't feel good. This lift is nice, but the lift handle is just a bent piece of thin metal. There's nothing substantial, like a knob, to grab onto like my 4.5qt has for lifting the head, but they give you a knob to control the speed lever arm?! Even when the bowl is all of the way down, it's nearly impossible to remove it without removing the mixing attachments first or banging the bowl against the attachments and that's because of how the bowl attaches too the lift arms, which requires lifting up the bowl tab off the lift peg on one side, which then thrusts the bowl towards you as the rear pressure plate is released, and then pulling the bowl off the other peg. Putting it back on is just as "exciting" and you have to ensure you get the bowl aligned perfectly with this year pressure plate and pushed in in order to get the bowl tabs over the pegs. This cannot easily be done 1 handed if the bowl has anything in it. Maybe if you've really large hands and like the feel of the metal handle. As both sides of the bowl have metal tabs at the rim that jut out over an inch and a subpar handle to hold it slide a hand through, it makes it even hard to hold against your chest to mix or whatever. And I'm baffled that despite the mixer being a matte paint and the bowl, knobless lift handle, and chrome band all being brushed metal, why in the world is this exterior attachment insert bright shiny chrome? I actually thought it was plastic at first, but no, it's just an awful cheap looking chrome paint coating. It looks cheap and is an eyesore and not what I'd expect to see coming from a brand my family has religiously used since the 1940s. The lift also means more maintenance as the lift rail is exposed and will easily gunk up with flour dust, which means you'll be fine cleaning and oiling more often. While I was extremely excited to get a 5.5qt lift mixer, when compared to my 4.5qt and other older KitchenAid models, I feel like maybe corners are being cut, but the price tag isn't. Frankly, I'm surprised to see just how unimpressed I was as I really was expecting the same high quality product and manufacturing as my KitchenAid 4.5qt; and there is an obvious difference. I can remedy the bowl problem by buying a different bowl, but I shouldn't have to pay another $50 to make my $500 mixer enjoyable to use. Don't get me wrong though, this is still a 5 star mixer and the best darn home kitchen mixer brand you can buy that will still last 100 years, but if they're cutting corners on the bowl and nobody complains, then what will be the next part where corners are cut, while prices are not? ... show more

  • I wish I could give it ten stars
I ordered this KitchenAid stand mixer because I want to make bread. I am so happy I did! It is more beautiful than I had imagined, and even though I thought the color may be bland, it is not at all. It is actually quite stunning. This is a big mixer. And heavy. It is an appliance that will probably last a lifetime and then be handed down to your children. It sits solidly on the counter, and was stable when kneading my bread dough, even though it was a tough job. I was so excited to make my first loaves of bread! I put the ingredients in the bowl, and started mixing, and was just a little unsure if it would actually be able to incorporate all of the flour. But let me tell you, it was mesmerizing to watch. Not only did it incorporate the dry ingredients, it continued on to knead the dough to a perfect consistency. I didn’t have to lift a finger! Not only does it knead dough, it folds as well! I make Yule logs every year for friends and family, and folding is my weakest ability. But my new KitchenAid mixer is going to do it for me now, and I can’t wait until baking day. As a matter of fact, this mixer is so versatile, you can prepare recipes that are as delicate and a soufflé, or as sturdy as a thick loaf of bread. There are so many recipes I am going to try, because owning this appliance is almost like having a personal chef. I wish I could rate this higher than five stars. I had worried about where I was going to store it when I ordered it, but I shouldn’t have. This mixer is going to live on my counter and will be the most-used appliance I own. Obviously, you can tell by my gushing that I think it is a great value for the money, and that I highly, highly recommend it. Don’t be jealous of me, just order your own and love it as much as I love mine. ... show more

  • Insane quality
The KitchenAid 5.5 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer (KSM55SXXX) in Porcelain White is an excellent choice for home bakers who regularly prepare bread, pizza dough, cookies, and other large batches. Its bowl-lift design provides outstanding stability during mixing, while the powerful motor handles heavy ingredients with ease. The 5.5-quart stainless steel bowl offers ample capacity for family-sized recipes without feeling oversized for everyday use. One of the mixer's most impressive features is its 11-speed system, including a unique half-speed setting that allows for gentle folding of delicate ingredients such as berries, nuts, or chocolate chips. The included flat beater, dough hook, and wire whip provide versatility for a wide range of recipes, and the mixer remains compatible with KitchenAid's extensive collection of optional attachments, expanding its functionality far beyond baking. In everyday use, the KSM55 excels when working with dense doughs and large batches. The bowl-lift design keeps the mixer stable and secure, reducing vibration and movement even when mixing stiff bread or bagel dough. Users who have upgraded from tilt-head models often appreciate the added power and confidence that the bowl-lift platform provides for more demanding baking tasks. The primary drawback is that the larger bowl and bowl-lift configuration can be slightly less convenient for very small batches. Tasks such as whipping a small amount of cream or mixing a single batch of frosting may require a bit more attention than with some smaller tilt-head mixers. Additionally, the mixer's size and weight mean it occupies more counter space and is less portable than compact models. Overall, the KitchenAid KSM55SXXX delivers an excellent combination of power, capacity, and versatility. Its sturdy construction, strong mixing performance, and ability to handle challenging doughs make it a standout option for serious home bakers. While it may be more machine than occasional bakers require, those who frequently bake or cook in larger quantities will likely find it to be a worthwhile investment that performs reliably for years. ... show more

  • High Quality Kitchen Mixer
KitchenAid is a great brand. We already had a mixer, just not the bowl-lift. We have loved using this mixer. The bowl-lift stand mixer is definitely a heavy duty mixer. It takes up a reasonable amount of space on the counter. We just leave ours out. It is literally heavy to move, so it's easier for us just to leave it on the counter. I use it at least a couple times a week. It is very versatile. It makes any kind of baking a lot easier. It comes with a stainless steel bowl and a beater attachment, a whisk attachment, and a folding attachment. There are 11 different speeds. You can attach a lot of different accessories to this. We already have a pasta making attachment and a slicer/shredder attachment. The color is porcelain white, which is sort of an off-white. They have a white mixer which is more of a stark white, and this is more of a muted white. It fits in with most kitchen styles since it's the most basic color you can get (shade of white). I think the value is in the quality with these. These last forever. They are high quality, and they do a great job. I think KitchenAid mixers are widely regarded as the best. You really can't go wrong getting one. I feel like the bowl-lift is great if you are wanting to make larger batches, bake a lot, need a heavy duty mixer. We are really happy with ours. I look at reviews a lot while shopping. I hope this review helps! ... show more

  • Powerful, durable mixer with excellent low speed control.
I have owned a KitchenAid 5 quart tilt head mixer for more than 15 years and it is still going strong after countless batches of cakes, cookies, and other baked goods. Because of that experience, I wasn't sure another mixer could impress me as much, but the KitchenAid 5.5 Quart Bowl Lift Stand Mixer certainly has. This mixer is powerful, sturdy, quiet, and the white finish looks great on the kitchen counter. The bowl lift design feels solid and stable, even when mixing heavier batters and doughs. My favorite feature is the ability to reduce the mixing speed to half speed. When making pound cakes, I often need to add flour and eggs gradually. With my older mixer, I frequently had to stop mixing or add ingredients in very small amounts to prevent them from flying out of the bowl. The slower speed on this mixer makes that process much easier and cleaner while still producing excellent results. The overall build quality is exactly what I have come to expect from KitchenAid. It feels like a machine that was built to last for decades. I fully expect this mixer to outlive me and eventually be passed down to my daughter. I've had excellent experiences with KitchenAid products over the years, and this mixer is another example of the quality, durability, and performance that keep me coming back to the brand. ... show more

  • One of the best mixers out there One of the best mixers out there
In my opinion, one of the best mixers if you're looking for a heavier-duty, large-portion mixer for all types of preparations. This replaces our tilt-head KitchenAid, which has been going since 1990 without any issues, other than the head being a little jumpy after all the use, but we wanted a larger capacity for breadmaking. We love the look, and as expected, it is powerful, and I like the dough hook better on this mixer than the tilt head. Takes a little getting used to the bowl since it does not have a handle. You don't realize how useful that is, but since we will be using this for larger mixing, the handle is not an issue, and we can always use the tilt head for smaller batches of cookies, cake, Etc. Also love the ability to use available accessories that extend the mixer's functionality. Love the mixer and expect this to last a long time. ... show more

I’m very happy with this stand mixer. It feels sturdy, durable, and made from high-quality materials. The bowl-lift design keeps everything stable, even when mixing thicker doughs and batters. It arrived in perfect condition with no scratches or damage. The controls are simple to use, and the mixer runs smoothly and quietly. It saves a lot of time in the kitchen and handles different recipes with ease. Considering the performance and quality, it offers great value and is a fantastic addition to any kitchen. ... show more
