  • A fantastic little chopper!
Color: Ice Blue Size: 3.5 Cup Chopper
It's not perfect. I would've appreciated a simple paddle switch instead the weird tiny button that can only be pressed by the lid. And also the two pieces of the lid are extremely difficult to separate in order to wash the bits and pieces of food that get stuck in between. I'm not sure how many times I can pry these apart before something breaks. With that out the way, the actual chopping is really good! The two speeds are actually quite different from each other, unlike many of other similar choppers on the market. Low is perfect for chopping and high is perfect for blending and pureeing. Most importantly, I bought this for its size. Hollandaise and aioli are staples in our household, and are best consumed fresh. We never need more than a cup-full. This little chopper is perfect for making things that you only need in small quantities: sauces, dressings, mayos. The blade is situated close to the bottom of the container, so you don't have worry about the blade free-spinning above your ingredients. It picks up everything! The drip hole is also perfect for making emulsions like mayonnaise; it dispenses the perfect amount of oil to emulsify, and you don't need to stop the chopper, or even open the lid! The materials also feel quite solid. Our last chopper pretty much just fell apart, and there's something about this one that feels very sturdy. Lastly, it is pretty quiet, cobsidering how much power it has for pureeing. Would definitely recommend for a home kitchen, but KitchenAid: please give us a normal switch! ... show more

  • Perfect for us
Color: Empire Red Size: 3.5 Cup Chopper
Love this. I use this to purée cooked chicken for an elderly dog and works just as I had hoped. Small opening in lid where a small amount of water can be added as the blades spin. Totally machine washable so no need to handle the blades which are sharp. Once clean I assemble it, blades inside, lid on to store in corner on countertop. It is a little bit fussy to start, everything has to line up perfectly, turn container counter-clockwise til it clicks in place. Same with lid. It takes a little trial and error but once it starts it works very well. ... show more

  • Powerful and Simple Time Saver!
Color: Matte Black Size: 3.5 Cup Chopper
Great buy! Chops very quickly! No more knife chopping and finger disasters for this home cook! Simple to use! Just do not "overfill," it is meant for smaller portions than a food processor, obviously. Note: the lid is not complicated to detach and attach as some other buyers have posted- to remove, you slightly press in the end of handle, and twist and lift lid off; to attach lid, place it on the cannister and twist to lock it- pressing the indentation on top of handle is how to initiate chopping or pureeing- methods which are chosen by the slide switch knob on the side. It is easy to clean, and store with the cord not dangling. ... show more

  • Works like a charm, but...
Color: Empire Red Size: 3.5 Cup Chopper
My old mini chopper was giving me headaches and throwing me into fits of swearing and gnashing of teeth. Despite it being made by a premier small appliance company and stipulated to have stainless steel components, the projection that held the blade rusted and got stuck all the time! It became a chore to remove the blade portion from the main appliance to the point that I dreaded using it. Enter Amazon Prime Day. This beautiful KitchenAid 3.5 Food Chopper was accompanied by a price I could not refuse. Since its arrival, I have used this little chopper with great success to chop a variety of vegetables including the classic triumvirate of onions, celery, and carrots. After cutting the vegetables into chunks to fit in the bowl, l loaded it up putting it on chop mode. Within seconds, no exaggeration, it had whittled those chunks down to the perfect chopped size. I did have to hold the machine when it initially began chopping the carrots, but not for the less dense vegetables. It was actually quite amazing how this teeny little red machine did its thing! This petite wee chopper is compact with a space at the bottom where the cord is wound keeping it out of site and preventing the cord from dangling obtrusively from its storage shelf. The apparatus has three pieces (not counting the main motor portion) consisting of the lid, removable stainless steel blade, and bowl. The lid and bowl are a clear hard plastic making easy to see when enough is enough. The blade attaches to a column of either rubber or plastic and fits securely over the projection. The bowl snaps easily and decisively into place. The on and off switch is located at the top of the handle and operates when pressed down or released which can be easily done with one finger or a thumb. A small sliding switch changes from chop to grind with a simple push and is located just below the bowl on the motor portion of the chopper. The noise is very tolerable and not nearly as loud as my old chopper. The bowl has a convenient pour spout, and there is a "drizzle basin" on top of the lid making adding liquid easy and mess free. The chopper disassembles easily for cleaning and according to the ad is dishwasher safe. My little ruby red gem of a guillotine (also available in 8 other colors) is going to be a great addition to my kitchen. NOTE: However, I must mention one problem that I had. Neither my son or I could figure out how to remove the lid from the bowl. I read the manual from start to finish (the English portion) twice but to no avail. I cold not find any instructions on how to remove the lid. Each maneuver I tried failed. Fearing that I might indeed break or damage something, I went to that all knowing teacher, YouTube. Finally I found a video with one simple sentence/statement that answered my question. One just takes a finger or thumb and gently pushes the top portion at the stop button forward toward you. So, using gentle pressure and one finger I did just that, and voila' I was able to remove the lid. Simple as pie, but not so initially! Now in my opinion, that should have been included in the instruction manual, and I should not have had to go to YouTube to find out how to remove a lid. KitchenAid is above that! Despite the fact that this is a top notch little machine, I was tempted to give it 4 stars. Reason prevailed, and five stars were assigned because of the size, stability, efficiency, speed, and quality of the machine. It really is very easy to remove the lid once you know how it is done. This little mini chopper is a giant among its own kind, and I can recommend it without reservation...just remember- push the little starter toward you to remove the lid! Top 3 Likes: -Does an excellent job chopping to a roughly uniform size -It is fast, efficient, and relatively, comparatively quiet -Compact and solidly, substantially, and attractively constructed Top 3 Dislikes: -There is some (but minimal) motor noise -Had to hold it steady while chopping dense vegetables like carrots -Lack of instruction on how to remove the lid ... show more

  • Love
Color: Aqua Sky Size: 3.5 Cup Chopper
I've been using it for a while, and I like how the blades don't fall out when I pour from the chopper bowl. My old one (different chopper) used to do that and it was so annoying. So I'm glad this one doesn't do that. It's convenient, chops well, and a pretty color. However, it does tend to get very hot and sounds a bit strange if I have it on for a long time. It feels like it's telling me it's tired or something. ... show more

  • Small but Mighty
Color: Ice Blue Size: 3.5 Cup Chopper
I've had mine for years now, and I love to make guacamole and salsa in it. It's the perfect size to make a small batch. Afterward, I rinse it and place it in the dishwasher - super easy! I've never had issues with leaks. It does take a little practice locking the lid in place, but it's nice knowing that it will not run if everything is not safely secured. I highly recommend this product if you live alone or want to make small batches or chop up small amounts of food. ... show more
