I spent hours reviewing and comparing different retro gaming systems and when comparing cost the super console x was the best deal. The controllers do feel cheap but work just fine for me and I read reviews that the Xbox wireless controller will work with the system though I have not tested this yet. The minute I got it I fired it up and was surprised how quickly it turned on! Within seconds I was at a main title screen which scrolled over 25 game systems and anywhere from 10-1500 games per console. There was no setup required just plug and play. With that said some games did not work with the included controller until you went into setting to re-assign the bottoms for the selected console you selected. To get to main menus press select and start together. This took me some time to figure out. Don’t be out off by the negative reviews unless you are very picky. I am tech savvy but did not want to go through the hassle of buying a Raspberry Pi and setting it up to play retro games. The console itself has only a power button. I experienced no problems with frame rates and even Nintendo 64 titles like Mario 64 played well. This is not a paid review and I paid full price for the system. I initially bought this as a gift and just had to test it out. The person I bought it for is NOT tech savvy and I wanted to be sure he would have no issues. The super console x gets my stamp of approval and I will more than likely be buying a second one for my household! ... show more

    • Took a while, but was all I expected and more

So, I was a bit concerned viewing some of the reviews here, but still took the leap. My console arrived and when I conected it, boom, I didn't work. Contacted the vendor and after some troubleshooting, the console didn't work. So what happened? The vendor inmediately replaced the defective console. No back and forth, no issues, no extra cost. To be sincere, costumer service here was one of the best I have seen outside of amazon. The replacement console works like a charm. It has been great to play all these games that defined my childhood and even my child loves them. From Nintendo to Sega to PS1. Sure, you have some of the same games through various of the consoles, but still there's a variety of games to choose from (even games you probably forgot existed :). So far all have worked well and you can save progress on all of them. Console takes a while to arrive, so be patient. End of the day, I totally recomend it. ... show more

The device was exactly what I expected, a gateway into the world of game emulation. It was jam-packed with all of her 30,000 games from various systems and was at an amazingly low price. Using YouTube videos I was up on the update the emulator to the latest and greatest version. In the Future I can use what I learned to possibly create my own console using a raspberry pi. Truth be told this is not just for a person who wants a perfectly working system out of the box. There is a learning curve especially when it gets to the more advanced games. Some games require switching the emulator, some require a usb keyboard, and some games may not even work at all. Getting certain consoles to work can be a labor of love. Still I love this console and is led to hours of retro gaming fun. There's a ton of content to explore and lots to learn about systems that I missed out on. Seriously, this is without a doubt one of the best purchases you could hope to make when it comes to retro gaming. Some may look at the price tag and think $100+ dollars is a little steep but believe me when I say it's well worth the bucks! The SD card alone, given its storage capacity, makes it worth it but there are already about 2 dozen emulators and over 40,000 games preloaded. Sure, there are a number of duplicates but that's often attributed to a game rom in a different language. What's more, the non-hack/non-homebrew games have descriptions (some in English and some in other languages), year of release, and more often than not a preview screenshot, or movie, to let you know what it looks like before playing it. The emulators also have a description that easily lets you know the system it relates to and the original year of release. I've tried only a few games, and I know I'll never try then all, but the controllers (there are 2; wireless) + the power cord + the HDMI cable all seem to work without issue. It even comes packaged with a USB adapter that allows for an additional 3 USB slots for 4 player games. This truly is an incredible deal for something that takes up no more space than a Roku player. To say that Super Console X is a love letter to retro gaming is an understatement. This system truly is in a class all its own. ... show more

    • Resist the impulse. It's not worth it

I'm kinda stuck between 4-5 stars. Product works, some games absolutely are buggy, some don't seem to work, and the save function is... Wonky. To say the least. But really... I'm playing the games I grew up with in the late 90s (crash bandicoot, castlevania, pokemon, ect) on my tv. I'm pretty happy. Update: nearly a month into owning it, the save has completely stopped working. Controllers randomly flip (1st person will become 2nd, and vice versa) sometimes in the middle of playing. Does it with both 1 player games and 2. Controllers will also randomly turn themselves off, needing to be turned off and back on 2-4 times before reconnecting. In the end, it feels like a waste of money. Now I have a grey box with two controllers that just sit on my entertainment center not doing anything. Its so bad I consider giving it away, but don't want to unload a broken thing on someone else. Final edit. 3*, but only because I have enough time to figure it out (because it was too late to return). Seller was unhelpful with questions, but I figured it out. Eh ... show more
