  • Very promising printer for the money
The KP5L Pro so far is looking to be an exceptional printer for the money. I have had almost every model printer that Kingroon has produced and I have to say this printer surprised me. The printer assembled very easily…. Just 4 bolts to hold the Z/X gantry to the base and clip the zip ties holding the belts in place so they don’t move during shipping. Packaging is very good… printer was snugly packed in several layers of foam and the Z Gantry was bolted to the base using existing holes in the dual axis guide rails, to give a very secure hold in shipping and eliminate shifting and vibrating screws loose. I found no loose parts in the box. The glass bed surface was shrink wrapped to a large block of Styrofoam to protect it. There is a decent color manual that is quite understandable. The printer ships with the standard compliment of hex keys as well as the obligatory flush cutters and an SD Card and reader. It also comes with a decent amount of sample filament, mine was pearl white and a spare nozzle and some nozzle cleaning needles. Instead of the typical 20x20 or 20x40 extrusion, Kingroon has opted to use Dual Axis Linear Guides for all 3 axis and this makes for an extremely smooth motion that, so far, has produced very nice print quality for the few things I have printed. The Titan Extruder drive has been beefed up a bit. The cage is a bit heavier gauge metal from the looks of it and there is a pre-drilled space for the BLTouch mount. And speaking of BLTouch, all the wiring to the X Axis and hotend is fed through a ribbon cable via breakout boards on each end. Those Breakout boards are pre-wired for you BLTouch/3DTouch probe so that you don’t have to run cables all the way up. It makes it very simple to wire the BLTouch the way you want and keeps it clean looking. It is common practice for the i3 clone makers to tin the leads for the heated bed and power inputs on the control board. Kingroon has broken away from that poor practice and opted to crimp metal ferrules on the bed heater wires as well as the hot end heater wires. The power wires are fed through a separate crimped power plug into the board and the power supply looks to be a quality small form factor PS. There is ample room inside the electronics enclosure for all wiring to be managed neatly and to have room on all sides of the board for access and installation of board wiring. (several pictures attached to this review including the BLTouch wiring. The glass bed surface comes with 4 bed pressure clamps to hold the glass bed in place securely. The glass bed is surfaced on one side and smooth glass on the other and could be easily used on either side. I may in the end opt for a spring steel bed surface but I do like the glass bed is a standard feature. The bed heater wires are still connected through a connector as past models have been, however, Kingroon have opted to add a generous amount of what appears to be a silicon adhesive to the connector where the wires go into it to help eliminate the past issues with wire breakage as have been experienced on the KP3 and KP3S models. You can still choose to remove the connector all together and directly solder the wires to the bed but in my opinion the addition of the adhesive to the connector makes the unnecessary. The one issue I have is that the bed comes on solid mounts instead of springs and that makes it a bit more difficult to get you Z axis set but it can be done by adjusting the Z Endstop. The other 2 options you have are to either purchase springs and replace the hard mounts with springs or to add a BLTouch. BlTouch wiring is meant for the endstop wires(Black and White wires) to be plugged into Z+ endstop on the board but I have opted to eliminate the Z endstop all together and use the BLTouch as the Z Endstop. In this manner I have plugged the Sensor wires into the Z- endstop port on the board. This is my preferred way to add BLTouch to any printer. In time I think this printer will end up being one of the work horses of my printer fleet. Another HOME RUN for KINGROON!!! ... show more

  • Reliable printer
The media could not be loaded. This printer was packed very well and easy to put together. It was much quicker than building my Ender 3. There are 4 bolts you need to remove before you can put it together (not in the instructions). The test files on the SD card are not very good so set up Cura and slice your first print. You will need to slow down the print speed or you will get ringing. I got terrific results at 40mm/s. The printer does a good job printing and I was even able to get down to .04 layer height. The user interface is simple, but this printer is meant to be a reliable printer, not an experiment. Kingroon has an active Facebook community who are very helpful when you have issues. The printer looks professional and my kids love watching it. I am happy with it. ... show more

  • 0/2 with kingroon..
First off had issues getting printer but believe that was mainly Amazon. Finally received one but about 15 prints in and have yet to get "quality" out of this printer :/... Also ordered a kp3s recently and that one has a bent extruder assembly. KP5L has been leveled about 50+ times since receiving it and yet to hold the leveling! Would not recommend even if it was $150 as you could spend on something more reliable/quality!!! Waste of time and space.. ... show more

  • would not print
would switch to pause and beep. over and over, wouldnt even start the first layer. tried multiple files from cura and prusaslicer. I even tried switch filaments and nozzles. re leveling the bed just in case. after 6+ hrs of banging my head against a wall i initiated a return and bought an ender 3 v2 instead. hope it works out when it gets here. ... show more

  • works well
printer has a nice large glass bed took a little bit to get use to the touch screen program ( I have CR10S pros ender 3s ) but after a few adjustments it has not missed a beat. My only main complaint is about the same with almost all of my printers are bed springs or bushings to soft need to be firmer. ... show more
