I adopted two abused kitties and one of them has a 'lame foot. My counters are high and when she has to jump off she limps for a few days. I only had a small step stool that was useless. I thought this would be perfect as the top step is level with my counters. The steps are so narrow she is too afraid to use it. The other girl will just run right up the steps without a care in the world. I'm sure it will come in very handy as I can only reach the first shelf in my top cabinets. [I feed my girls on the counter, with their placemats, because my back doesn't want me to be bending] It will be great for anyone needing this size ladder. A good around-the-house ladder is hard to find. Either you'll find one that has the height you need but isn't sturdy or one that is relatively sturdy but isn't the right height. Finally, a ladder that has everything I need! I chose the 3-step version of this ladder. First, the product description says it has a 900lb maximum capacity. I wanted to test this so I and a friend got on the ladder and had another friend hand us some tools and weights to get as much weight onto the ladder as possible. We had around 650-700lbs on the ladder at one time and I didn't feel insecure. I feel confident we could have added another 200lbs in weights to the ladder and it would have been stable but didn't want to risk anything falling off and hurting our friend on the floor. Second, the construction of the ladder was the next test. The ladder itself isn't very heavy. It can be carried with one hand when folded and easily moved from place to place when open. The ladder is very well made and doesn't feel wobbly when set up or when you are standing on it. I have been on the third step a handful of times and the ladder felt stable. I would advise, however, never get on that third step unless there is someone with you who can help in case you lose your balance. The rails of the ladder are strong and sturdy and provide a great railing to use when climbing the ladder. When folded, the ladder is incredibly thin and doesn't take up much storage space at all. This is a blessing as I don't have a lot of free space in my garage to store a bulky folded ladder. Finally, the feet on the bottom of the ladder are non-skid and don't allow the ladder to move on the floor or ground while it is being used. The steps themselves are non-slip to make standing and stepping on/off them safer. I'm very pleased with this product from start to finish. It does the job I need it to, and makes me feel safe doing it. I feel safer using this ladder than any step stools or wooden ladders. We have been doing a number of jobs around the house, and my old trusty 3-step ladder was just not giving me the reach I was needing. For painting, inspecting the roof, or chopping those higher branches off of the trees, this comes in real handy. The build feels sturdy, it is light weight, and I love how deep the steps are. I can stand on the 4th step with both feet, and it feels like I am standing on a solid platform, rather than having my toes and heels dangling off the edge like a typical step ladder. I like it for the types of jobs I have around the house since it is so easy to move and set up, and I can keep things going. Trust me, you want that 4th step! You may not know why you will need that 4th step, but something will always come up where you will wish you had it! We randomly have 1 room in our house where the ceiling slants and the light fixtures are out of reach of a chair, or typical 3-step ladder. This Kingrack step stool is perfect for around the house. It is designed for indoor use. It is consumer grade, which is fine. The most important measurement to know is 3', the height of the top step when in use. Therefore, this stool can lift you 3' above the floor. That is higher than it sounds. A 5'6" man on the top step of this stool would bang his head on an 8' high ceiling. I am certain that the top step is 3' high. I checked with a tape measure, twice. The Amazon listing shows the top step height of 26.57". That appears to be an error in the listing. The quality of this stool is good. It feels solid. It folds up easily, and folds slim. The steps are wide and textured. The top bar is covered with a foam grip. The feet are covered with rubber tips. I do not believe that this stool supports 900 pounds in real use. The Amazon listing mentions a 900 pound test. Anyway, this stool seems strong enough. I weigh180 pounds and felt fully secure on the stool. ... show more

There is no duty rating sticker on this ladder. The rating system is from type III (light duty 200 pounds)to Type IAA (extra heavy duty 375 pounds). It does have a little sticker saying 900 pounds. I'd feel better if it were officially rated. Still it held my 230 pounds sturdily. This is the 3-step ladder, and I did climb onto the third step. It still felt steady. I got this for indoor use only. My wife also feels comfortable using it. To close the ladder (no directions included), you have to unsnap the top step from a metal rail. It's tight and takes a little muscle, but is easy once you know how to fold it. ... show more
