I bought these even though some of the reviews were not stellar. So far, I have to say I am very happy with them. Because of the less than great reviews I have handled these with some care and maybe that is all that is needed. If you toss them around maybe they won't hold up well. So far, in my case, I can see nothing wrong with them at all. They do the job and didn't cost me much money. One thing I did was fill them with pea gravel instead of sand. I did this because I figured they would be less likely to leak if a seam opens slightly. The gravel is a "washed" type where the stones are rounded and do not have sharp edges. So far they are working well and weigh enough that they should do a good job of holding my shelter in place during mild winds.

They keep the gazebo from flying away.
These have been working great for over a year. We used two sets on a huge gazebo with 8 legs. I read other reviews about them ripping so we were careful and didn't have a single problem. I don't know how sturdy they'd be with being moved around a lot, but for a stationary gazebo they have been great. They are mostly hidden by the curtains when they're bunched up against the poles which is a plus. Each eight is divided into two bags and holds about 25lbs of sand total (so you'll get 100 lbs of weight per set). With the 200 pounds we have in place our gazebo hasn't budged in over 40 mph winds. UPDATE: We just put another set on a second gazebo, one set only, and it is held well in a recent storm. This time my husband fit only about 75lbs of sand in them, but we'll probably add another 25 once it settles.

Nice Anchor Bags
I just finished filling these with sand yesterday and they look nice and should do a good job of holding down my canopy in case it starts getting windy. I divided a 50 pound bag between the 8 tubes and could probably use another 25 pounds until they are completely filled. These are easy to use - just wrap each one around a leg on the canopy and velcro together. They are made with a durable nylon material and none of the sand escapes out of the tubs. The reason why I knocked one star off is because one of the zippers wasn't working when I received it, however, I was able to work with it and get it to zip correctly. Needs a bit better quality control before leaving the warehouse. UPDATE - I used these over the 4th of July Weekend and they were perfect. We had wind gusts of up to 40 mph, and even though my canopy sides flapped around a bit, it stayed in place. I saw a few vendors having to hold their canopies so they wouldn't fly away even though they were using milk jugs filled with water or sand. Once vendor even had this tent take off and fly away. I'm really happy with these weight bags and they were worth the cost. I wish they didn't come damaged so I could have given them a 5-Star rating but fair is fair. Excellent weight bags.

I'm very impressed with these. I have canopies with 8 legs, so I got a lot of these to hold them down. I filled them with sand, wrapped them around the feet, and also tied rope to the top of the canopy. They have held these canopies completely down through some very windy games this winter. They definitely do the job. Be careful as out of my 24 one had a stuck zipper (to the point where I couldn't open it to fill) and one was ripped. For me I just doubled up a couple legs on one and it was no big deal. If I only got 4 and 1 had a problem, though, I would have had to deal with a return.

Held tent down in very heavy beach winds
We filled these with sand from the beach right after we put up the tent. Then attached them to the tent. They held the tent in place very well. The tent canopy and top of tent flexed with the wind but it did not go anywhere. Other people's umbrellas blew away, but these weight bags held our tent in place nicely. We used them so far 4 times (all on the beach) and so far they have not ripped. We emptied them prior to transporting back and forth to the beach. I would recommend these as we've not had any issues so far with them. :)

Their basic form and function is fine, just very cheaply made
Well, just as some have noted, the main virtue of these weight bags is that they are cheap. Unfortunately, in this case you get what you pay for. I have now used them just one weekend, but they were moved around a number of times by various helpers. If it were only me handling them I would know to always keep them right side up so as not to stress the zippered end, and especially not to carry them by their straps, which are poorly sown onto material that is too flimsy. So they already have a few little holes and tears. But, if you think you can control how they are handled, keep them strapped closed when moving so as not to stress the strap attachments, fill them carefully (I used pea gravel inside 1-gallon zip lock baggies), then they might be OK for you. Their basic form and function is fine, just very cheaply made.

Great Weight Bags for a 10' x 10' Shade Tent
I used the King Canopy 17 inch weight bags with a 10' x 10' Shade Tent and the MSR Cyclone Stake Kit during a week long trip to the Jersey shore. The wind at the beach can get gusty and these weight bags offered some piece of mind on top of the already capable MSR Cyclone Stakes. The set up is easy. I used one of my daughter's plastic shovels to fill each compartment with beach sand, zipped the compartment closed and used the integrated Velcro strap to wrap each bag around the tent legs. I dug around each tent leg and buried the weight bags a few inches below the surface for added the stability. (See Photo) I never had an issue with the wind and my tent during our week at the shore. I would highly recommend these weight bags.

Made for the garbage.
I bought these for my 10x10 tent. I needed something to easily transport and these failed miserably. Strike one: Filling these is definitely a two person ordeal, one to hold the funnel and empty bag weight, while another person tips 50 lb bag from Home Depot to fill these. I did not have anyone available to help out, making the entire process a pain in the neck and an hour process. Sand all over the driveway, sand all over me. Sand in the car. Strike two: the bags are "sealed" with a zipper top. The zipper does not fully close and sand falls out while transporting, getting sand all over my car and making a huge mess. Strike three: one of the nylon bags got caught on something in my car and ripped, causing the sand to explode all over the inside of my car. I still can't get it all out of my vehicle. What a three ring circus. Will never ever use something like this again. Oh, and because these are sold through a third party vendor I can no longer return beyond 30 days. Today is day 39..... Used these once and can't use again.
