These are tons of fun for my 2-7 year old kids. They are simple to operate. These have one on/off slider and then the talk button that you hold to talk. There is no volume button. I also love that they do not have "channels". On other walkies that is so frustrating because they are constantly changing them and then they can no longer communicate. They have been dropped numerous times and continue to work. I am not sure on battery life yet, but they do take 3 AAA batteries each. Without a lot of other functions I hope they run a while. I would not count on these in a survival situation. Overall these are fun but not something I would buy to use in any sort of situation other than play. ... show more
