I had wanted to try this after trying a different kicking horse through a friend. It was available during prime day so it made it worth it to try it. I brew this with my Breville Barista Express. I really like the kicking Horse Cliff Hangers unique flavors. It has a very smooth yet bold taste. I have tried Lavazza and Starbucks beans I seem to like this one much more and usually my pick every morning over the other 2 I have. This one is a medium roast but tastes a bit more like a dark roast but still not a dark roast. If you are a fan of medium/dark roasts like me then this will also be suitable for you. If you are like me and have trouble choosing which beans to try. Kicking Horse Cliff Hanger is worth a try. Price is a bit more pricey than what I like since we drink a lot of drinkers at home so the beans go fast. ... show more

Upon opening the bag you don’t really get that signature, aromatic espresso bean smell as you would from a truly quality brand. I actually thought the double espresso I pulled was going to be terrible just based on the smell and appearance of the beans. It tasted far better than it looks or smells though. Crema was decent and it isn’t acidic, has hints of a bitter aftertaste, and missing the earthy, chocolatey tones of our favorite espresso, which is substantially more expensive. This a great brand. Kicking Horse has some of the best coffee beans you can buy on Amazon. I'm a fan of their Smart Ass roast. So complex and delicious. Cliff Hanger isn't my favorite and I probably won't order it again. For those that love a good medium roast, this one is on the medium-dark side (maybe Full-City+?, yeah it looks pretty dark and shiny). Smooth, but, not as complex.
