  • Fantastic flavor, decent price.
In the last several months, I have been introduced to the wonders that are Ethiopian coffee. I have heard from missionaries to Ethiopia that a part of reaching out and loving families in this country is being invited in to a hut and being served some of the best, most amazing coffee one can enjoy. Having recently begun investigating lighter roasts than what I had been accustomed to, I started down this rabbit hole. My first experience was with an ultra-premium roaster that I trusted. The coffee was amazing, and the price was similarly mind-boggling. If this was what it cost to enjoy such coffee, then maybe it was out of my reach. My next experiences left a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. The offerings lacked aroma, lacked depth of flavor. It's possible they were passable for the price, but having experienced the ultra-premium roaster's offering, it was hard to settle for so much less (both in quantity and quality.) From small batch roasters to more commercial outfits, few could match what I experienced with the ultra-premium, but I thought I'd give Orinoco a shot. The reviews were good, and at $25 for 2.5 pounds of coffee (at the time of writing of this review) it seemed like an excellent deal. This coffee is fantastic. I had some beans left over from my previous purchase, and was pleased that the Orinoco is more aromatic, the coffee produced is more flavorful with subtle nuance and depth that is unmatched, even by more expensive beans. I use an aeropress with all my coffee at work, and the recipe that worked well for me is as follows: One heaping scoop of medium-fine ground coffee into the aeropress (inverted if you don't have the one-way valve cap, with the plunger as close to the top as you can get.) A small amount of near-boiling water to bloom the coffee for 30 seconds. Then fill the rest of the chamber with near-boiling water, and let steep for 1 minute. The result is an amazing, enjoyable cup of coffee, for less than an ultra-premium price. ... show more

  • Aromatic Bliss and Great Value: Orinoco Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Coffee Review
I recently purchased the Orinoco Ethiopian Yirgacheffe 2.5lb bag of medium roast, whole bean coffee, and I am thoroughly impressed! As a coffee enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for high-quality, 100% Arabica beans, and this product did not disappoint. Firstly, the aroma is simply out of this world. From the moment I opened the bag, the scent of fresh coffee filled my apartment, creating an inviting and warm atmosphere every morning. It’s a delightful experience that any coffee lover would appreciate. The value for money is exceptional. Considering the cost of buying coffee from cafes, this 2.5lb bag is a real budget-saver. It lasted me a whole month, providing delicious coffee every morning for two people. This is a significant saving without compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the taste of the coffee is just as remarkable as its aroma. It’s a perfect medium roast with a rich and robust flavor profile that Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans are famous for. Each cup was a delightful journey of taste, making my mornings extra special. The packaging deserves a special mention too. Not only is it visually appealing, but it also does an excellent job of sealing in the freshness of the beans. The resealable bag is convenient and ensures that the coffee remains as aromatic and fresh as it was on day one. In conclusion, I highly recommend the Orinoco Ethiopian Yirgacheffe whole bean coffee. It's a perfect choice for anyone looking for high-quality coffee at an affordable price. The blend of its delightful aroma, exquisite taste, and excellent packaging make it a must-try for coffee lovers. Definitely a 5-star product! ... show more

  • Delicious - esp if you prefer a medium roast!
Smells heavenly, fuller bodied than most Ethiopian coffees, which I like, as I usually find Ethiopian roasts too light. Good value for the amount of beans you get, too! My only complaint is that the zip part of the bag doesn’t always stay closed.

  • Smooth Coffee That’s Easy to Enjoy
This Ethiopian Yirgacheffe has a smooth flavor that’s easy to drink every day. The medium roast brings out a nice balance without any bitterness, and the beans smell great right out of the bag. It grinds well, brews cleanly, and tastes consistent cup after cup. It’s one of the better Ethiopian coffees I’ve found until now, and the 2.5 lb bag is a good value if you go through coffee regularly. ... show more

  • Great quality coffee
The Orinoco Ethiopian Yirgacheffe 2.5lb whole bean coffee is an amazing value! For only $25, I decided to try this company out and I must say I am pretty happy with my purchase. I have to admit I was drawn to the artwork on the bag, which caught my attention as I was searching for Ethiopian varieties. The coffee arrived very fresh as the bag was still full of carbon dioxide, indicating it had been recently roasted. The flavor profile description matches what I look for and the actual flavor is pretty close, although I wish this was a light roast instead of medium roast. I believe that a light roast best serves Ethiopian varieties. I can taste the bit of darker roast essence in this coffee and so I just plan to blend this with some other light roasts Ethiopians I have. I will definitely consider buying this variety again, although I would jump on it and become a regular patron if Orinoco starts making a light roast Ethiopian! 5/7/2024 Edit - Really, this is a great coffee. It is funny reading some reviews saying this is not vacuum sealed. My bag was definitely sealed and has the little pressure-relief valve...it is just VERY well hidden with the packaging design. My only quip remains on the roast level, but this is undeniably a high quality coffee product and I would highly recommend for medium roast lovers with it's dark fruit flavors. ... show more
