Bought this as it was a good buy and thought I would try it. I usually buy Jose's 100% Colombian whole bean. This was good coffee. The flavor was fairly robust and generally consistent throughout the bag. 5# is actually too much for me and won't buy a large bag like that again. We only make one pot a day. We prefer Jose's after trying this, but it was decent coffee. The main reason I won't buy it again though is that after grinding the beans, the grounds stick to the plastic cup. It's a pain to have to brush them out each time. Some always gets on the counter. When the bag was finished, we went back to Jose and the grounds just slip right out into the filter. ... show more

I do not like how this is packaged. I'm the only person in my house that drinks coffee. I drink about 3 cups a day. This is a single bag consisting of 5 lbs of beans - that is a lot of coffee. I think it would get a stale taste at the rate I consume coffee. I ended up getting my vacuum sealer out and packing this into smaller, vacuum sealed bags to keep it fresher. Ok, that is the only thing I did not care for about this coffee. The flavor was right one. It is a nice, bold breakfast coffee. It tasted fresh and had a nice after taste. The price is also better than others I have recently sampled. All things considered, this is a good price. I will likely buy this again - but will also have to vacuum seal it as I just don't think it will stay fresh in the 5lb bag. (Maybe this is for restaurants or offices with higher coffee consumption? I wish they used smaller bags). ... show more

A few months ago I got my first bag. It was the 5lb Med Roast Whole bean. It came in a brown "paper-like" bag and the coffee was incredible! I fell in love with it. My only vice is coffee so this was like heaven in a cup for me. I loved every smidge of it and reordered again. Same size & same bean. This time it came in a black plastic-y bag but I checked to make sure it was the same as the last one and that I didn't accidentally order something different. Since I started using these bean, my coffee has had a chemical aftertaste and it's terrible. I thought it was my equipment so I cleaned and descaled my coffee maker (twice in a week and a half). Still tasted like chemicals. So I changed to a clear glass mug. Still tasted like chemicals. I checked my creamer and my milk (both which live in glass airtight containers). Nope... they are not to blame. I basically went through everything I could think of that may have changed and the only thing was that I had started with this new bag of beans. Very disappointing since I had been so excited that I finally found "MY coffee". So, now I have (a little less than) 5lbs of beans that are useless to me... and I have to go back on the search for a coffee that i can trust will be consistently good. Very sad. ... show more

After getting a French press for Christmas (and therefore now need to grind my own coffee) I decided to try Brooklyn Coffeehouse's coffee because it was one of the most economical choices, but didn't look cheap. When it arrived and I opened the bag, I was extremely happy. The beans are beautifully dark and have a lovely sheen. I was even happier when I brewed it. This roast has a great depth of flavor and makes consistently great cups of coffee. I am now on my second five pound bag and have signed up for the subscribe and save so I can continue to get it every few weeks. I am so glad to have come across it. ... show more
