Could be 4 stars: mine came with a corner bent inwards. I did not notice it when I originally tested it by terminating the leads onto a plug. I noticed it during installation. I decided to keep it. I can hide the imperfection by putting it on the top-side of the installation. Some information missing from the description. 1. This is 2 banks of 4 lights for a total of 8. So 2 black and 2 neutral wires. 2. There is a single hole to feed the 4 wires into a centrally located junction box. 3. I think there are slot knockouts for mounting around a central box. I did not use them (special situation). 4. There are two slots near the ends of the back bracket, about 38.5” apart. I used these to mount the fixture. My personal experience: I was replacing two separate lighting kits above a double sink vanity, so i had two junction boxes, not a single centrally located box. By a strange stroke of luck, the two boxes had mounting holes located about 38.5” away from each other. It was not perfect, but also not worth widening a mounting slot with a drill and risk a mistake. Got things lined up enough with some screws and fender washers to step the frame towards the wall. It was flush and secure. Speaking of steps, i bought some step bits. The two four-light socket banks are basically spring mounted into sets of dual-slots (maybe that will make sense if you see it - remember that not all springs are compression springs). That means they are removable. Instead of the leads all pointing towards the middle, I removed the sockets and arranged the two sets of leads to point towards the ends. I drilled some holes through the back bracket with my new step bits, installed some rubber grommets, and connected my leads into my pre-existing boxes. Actually went way simpler than i was worried about. What I like: the bulbs point out. Our old setup was 2x4=8 LED globes pointing out. Great light output. Something like 580 lumens per (dimmable). Original reno choice was 2 sets pf 3 pointing down. Loss of 2 bulbs (same bulbs) and change in orientation made the master bathroom, well, dark. This fixture gives us 8 pointing out again, with a nickel finish instead of chrome. Keeping. May add pics if i remember later. Still WIP.

Hollywood Vanity Makeup Mirror Made.....Come Read!

Hidy Amazon Gang!!!! Im kinda a DIY'er and wife was wanting a Hollywood Vanity Makeup Mirror and for the prices these things cost I figured I would save some money and make one for her. Now the product that I purchased here was the 6 light vanity, and I used it for the top of her Makeup Mirror. I did purchase 2x 4 light vanity light bars for the sides else where because they were cheaper. The end result came out great and she absolutely loves it! There are a few mixed reviews on these light bars and Im not really sure why. They are what they are, and they are ALL about the same in quality. This 6 bar vanity light has 4 leads coming of it. This means the 3 right sockets have a set of leads that drop for you to wire in (black and white) the left 3 lights have a set of leads that drop for you to wire in as well (black and white). So essentially on this one light bar you have 2x black wires and 2x white wires. The 4 bar vanity I bought else where has just one set of wires coming off all four (black and white). Just thought I would share this information with yall. Now you can put regular bulbs in these but for the Makeup Mirror I made here I stuck in the Globe Bulbs (bigger round bulbs) and I DID NOT go with regular bulbs.....I spent the EXTRA money and went with the LED Globe Bulbs (Daylight) for her. Yes they are MORE EXPENSIVE but you are looking at a bulbs that will last up to 22 years (warrantied) and at 60 watts output on LED type bulbs it only uses about 7 watts of power each. That is a plus all the way around....longer life.....less power.....and most of all LESS HEAT radiating off the set up! I also did put in a dimmer for her (on left side) and a power socket (on the right) for her hair dryer & hot iron (or what ever else she uses). Make the wife happy...and make her one of these...I know mine is like a little kid in a candy store right now LOL. I made this unit at a great price.....and the units she was looking at..the WHOLE unit was the same size as just the MIRROR on the one I made her! The mirror alone in this one is a 24 x 30!! The WHOLE unit I made is 38" X 38 1/2" :-) So as far as the 6 light vanity bar...its a good item, and YES it will take LED bulbs if you decide to go that way, I dont know why people say it will only take incandescent bulbs......the socket purpose is to supply power to what you screw into it. The socket could care less if you put in a incandescent bulb or a led bulb...it will supply power to what you put in there! Well I hope my review helps yall out some........questions just visit our profile and there is a email me button there if you need more info on this 6 light vanity strip! *UPDATE April 5th 2017* Hey Guyz and Galz! Question for yall. I get emails very often on how to make this for their wife/girlfriend and yes I get the ladies asking how to make it as well for themselves. I was THINKING about making another and build it with step by step notes & pics on HOW TO MAKE A LIGHTED HOLLYWOOD VANITY MIRROR! My question is would yall be willing to pay $25-$30 for a PDF on how to build this from start to finish? Yes it would include a LIST of everything you need (tools, parts, wood, wire & so on). I was thinking $25-$30 sounds decent for a DIY Project as it would take some time and effort to create this in a PDF format for easy download. Nice looking. Great replacement to an old veeeery rusted vanity light of the same size. Relatively easy to install “IF” you have extra wall anchors. Reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the anchors provided do not really fit the screws that were provided, so more of a a hardware issue. I’d recommend the manufacture to provide better quality and sized anchors based on the price. Also one corner was deformed formed which I had to re-straighten. Overall happy with purchase as the measurements matched the replaced vanity light specs and wont have rust sprinkles all over my bathroom sinks for once.

Bad product and sold and re-sold damaged

I first ordered this fixture from an electrical supply store. I was about to install it when I noticed it had a big dent in the middle. After that I ordered the same unit from Amazon. It was shipped in an absurdly large box (probably from a previous return!). Inside was the unit in the original box with no surrounding padding. The box was ripped and bent and holed. Why on earth would they ship this to anyone! After that I bought a different vanity light made by Progress Lighting which was good quality but I didn’t like the design so I foolishly ordered a third 8 socket Kitchler light. I was hopeful when I received this because the box didn’t look damaged but I could hear something sliding around inside. When I removed it from the box I discovered that nearly every socket was detached from where it should have been bolted to the back plate and one end of the cover plate was bent 45 degrees. I probably could have salvaged it but what was the point? This fixture is a piece of junk and neither Amazon or the manufacturer seem to care. Shame on all responsible parties!

1. pull the socket cups off the cover plate to remove the mounting plate and find the mounting hardware and instructions inside. 2. you can remove the wattage sticker from the cover plate and stick it on a socket cup for future reference. Removing the sticker DID NOT mar the finish. 3. I like the finish but it’s different than another brand I got a few months ago so I’m glad this one didn’t need to match anything in the same room. Also the finish on this one DOES NOT attract fingerprints that are hard to clean off like the other brand I got for another bathroom does. 4. mine was shipped in a box and had no damage and the metal is not thin, both of which were mentioned in other reviews.
