The bedroom windows are quite small (narrow). By leaving one of the side expander/fillers off I was able to just get it to fit in the window. It ran all of last night just fine. Fingers crossed. I've had some problems with refrigerant devices in the near past.

Bought this air conditioner when mine quit and while it does cool pretty well and has remote, it does have one major flaw if you work evening shifts or nights and have it in your bedroom. This thing has styrofoam or something in it for insulation behind the vents and it lets in all the light. You might as well have a lamp on as soon as the sun comes up. As soon as the sun comes up outside the styrofoam lights up bright white, I awaken to a blinding radiance every morning. I have to make a pillow fort at the end of the bed to be able to sleep. I should probably get one of those sleep mask things, but I don't like anything pressing on my eyes. Anyway, if you're using it for another room or don't mind the light, it's a fantastic little air conditioner. Let me start by saying that I compared window A/C units for nearly a week before finally pulling the trigger on this one (KSTAW05BE) I’ve now owned this model for an entire summer and am very satisfied. I have a medium sized room on the top floor of the house. Over the summer I would leave the A/C running several hours of the day (my bedroom is also my office) and it never let me down. The energy save feature is nice for that reason so that it isn’t using constant electricity. The remote is also a really nice bonus so I can control it from my bed. One concern of mine when selecting a unit was the styromfoam that some units have on the inside. I didn’t know this one had that, so I was a little disappointed at first. But after having it all summer I can honestly say it didn’t make a difference. The unit cranks cool air so fast I don’t think the material matters that much unless maybe you’re looking to keep the unit for a lifetime. For me and my needs it works perfectly. Overall I thought the bang for the buck was the best for this unit. I wanted something midgrade - not too fancy but not one that I would have to replace next year. My largest concern was noise. I expect some noise from the airflow but I had read some reviews of other units talking about random ear-piercing buzzing sounds or really loud beeping. This unit beeps when you press the buttons and when turning off and on but that is all. No random noises or abrupt stops (unless in energy save mode where it will turn off and on every so often). omg where do I start. I purchased this the first time and when I got it the thing was damaged. I sent it back with no issues and it was replaced. So far I was satisfied until the component stopped working. When I say it stopped working the air comes out really light. It doesn't cool off my daughters bedroom what so ever and her room is small. I purchased the warranty but that didn't help because they don't want to replace it. For the price I paid I would have thought I would hav e gotten better quality, well at least a cold room. If you can stay away from this product please do. I'm balling on a budget, I don't have money to waste experimenting on air conditioners. ... show more
