  • Very usable (for Windows 10) after a few Registry Changes to improve 2-finger scrolling
Color: Wired, Aluminum Black
The biggest (positive) surprise to me is that the touchpad is recognized by Windows 10 as a precision touchpad. This allows advanced gesture configuration change so I can customize 3-finger and 4 -finger tap/swiped up, down, left, right based on my needs. I am surprised that the seller chose not to mention this major advantages in the sales information (as of early 2021, most external pads on the market do not have the features). However, the 2-finger scrolling was agonizingly slow for my windows 10 pc. (The others pads I have tried, -- Logitech T650, Logitech K400+, Microsoft all in one keyboard/touchpad -- do not have this problem so I know my hardware and windows did not cause this. Also, many users pointed out the slowness in the reviews). The border-wheels can be adjusted to scroll much faster but it is a pain to use (you have to look and find the narrow edge, and make sure your swipe motion does not touch the pad area - which interrupts the intended scrolling). In spreadsheets and some other applications, the scrolling is borderline acceptable, but I still need to apply some effort to scrolling. The inertia (you start to move the fingers and the scrolling doesn't start until I move the fingers far enough) is annoying. In browsers (at least for Chromium based browsers like Chrome, new Edge), the scrolling is at snail speed for any pages with mixed contents -- no, it is not related to the slow loading of the contents as the speed is also slow if I downloaded the page). But I really like the ability to customize the gestures so I tried hard to find a solution. Finally I learned that the windows 10 precision touchpads share the same settings with windows 10 touchscreens (software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch) and there are many documented ways to to speed up touchscreen scrolling which I could borrow. I tested it out and, voila!, it worked. Now the scrolling, although still not as good as the T650 or my laptop's touchpad, is very usable. Good enough that I'll keep the touchpad for my daily use. I don't encourage causal users to tweak the Windows registry setting as it is possible to make a major, unrecoverable mistake. If you are an experienced windows users and want to see if it would help you: try search "increase precision touchpad two-finger scrolling speed" and see the answer in superuser.com site. For me, the change suggested alone helped a lot but I found additional changes of "inertia" and possibly "bouncing" made scrolling even smoother. Also, my setting for friction is set to 0 (allowable range is 0-64, default for a desktop pc is 32, according to Google searches). Also, if you have a touch-screen set up, you may want to be careful, as the setting affects the touchscreen too., I still could not give this touchpad a 5 since (a) it is too easy to touch the upper and right border s and render my touch/tapping ineffective, (b) it still feels a tad inferior to a good pad such a T650, and (c) the seller/manufacturer apparently did not do their work properly so end users have to search for a solution. I hope this review could help someone. Finally, my experience applies to window 10 desk top only. I don't know how this touchpad work in any other hardware/OS combinations. I suggest the seller/manufacturer look into the solution proposed here and make it easier for all general users. If the solution helps to make your product easier, I wouldn't mind testing more products for you. I fondly remembered my experience when I had a job rotation working as an acceptance tester for a major company's system area. ... show more

  • Pretty great for price point, great with a few easy DIY additions
Ok so *for the price* this is a great little track pad. No other track pad that I’ve seen has come close to having as good of reviews as this and be under even $50. THAT SAID, this track pad isn’t perfect and could be better and does take some getting used to. After you get used to it, and if you use my solution, it’s a great little trackpad! I live that it works with windows 10 gestures. Working from home means I’m down to only two monitors and so I use the windows 10 multi desktop feature to do more. Swiping between windows requires a track pad tho and I have my laptop set up so it doesn’t hurt my neck to look at all day but that means the laptop’s keyboard and track pad aren’t very usable for any sort of longer length of time. Moving onto the bad, I’ve found my own solutions to the real problems. The real problems are that the rubber grips don’t grip enough so over the course of the day it will shift little by little and once that happens I can sometimes accidentally start using the buttons and scroll along the top and side that I don’t mean to use and that’s annoying but nothing terrible and didn’t stop me from really liking the track pad. It actually took me like a year to think of my super simple solution. The solution for both issues kills two birds with one stone and makes this track pad basically perfect for me. My solution (look at pictures) is to put three thin rubber bands on the trackpad so it physically partitions the buttons and scroll bars along the top and sides from the regular trackpad area. That way the track pad doesn’t slip and move much at all and you’ll feel your fingers hit the rubber band if they’re shifting into the button or scroll bar areas. The other thing is that it doesn’t press down to click like some key boards. The way to “click” is to use short taps and double taps. That you just have to get used to but I think it’s pretty easy to get used to and some people that have a clickable track pad don’t even use that feature and tap anyway so they won’t even have to get used to that. I don’t even use the click feature Mitch when using the built in track pad on my laptop but at first learning to select a wide range of cells on excel or dragging and dropping windows across a wide distance was a little difficult but you get the hang of it. Just have to start those actions with your finger in the appropriate corner to maximize the trackpad space since it’s not too big (but I honestly think that’s better than lugging around a big track pad. It’s very easy to travel with. I only wish it was wireless now but not a dealbreaker at allll. ... show more
