Description

Connect to Raspberry Pi The 7DP-CAPLCA supports Raspbian/Ubuntu/Kali/Retropie and WIN 10 IoT. Only single-point touch is supported in most of OS, multiple touches may be supported in some software, max 5-points. Raspberry Pi doesn't support hot-plug and auto-recognized the resolution, you need to configure the resolution manually, otherwise, the display cannot work normally. 1.Downolad the newest Raspbian image from Raspberry Pi website（Full or Desktop version is recommended ） 2.Insert the TF card to host PC by card reader and format it. If you have TF card which is ready to use, you can skip to Step 4. 3.Write Raspbian (.img file) to TF card by image writer software. Note: you need to unzip the zip file to get the .img file. 4.After writing, open the config.txt file which is located in BOOT directory and modify it. 5.Remove the line dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-V3D 6.Add the following lines to the end of config.txt file then save.max_usb_current=1 hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=87 hdmi_cvt 1024 600 60 6 0 0 0 hdmi_drive=1 1.Insert the TF card to Raspberry Pi 2.Connect Touch interface of the display to a USB port of Raspberry Pi 3.Connect Display interface to HDMI port of Raspberry Pi 4.Power on Raspberry Pi and the LCD will display. If youre wanting a PC sensor panel, I dont think this can be beat for the price or quality. Time will tell how long it lasts but the screen is perfect for what it is. Connections in rear seem solid. I picked up a USB header to Micro USB and a flat ribbon cable HDMI cable for mine. I havent tested the touch nor will I ever use that. One thing to note that I wasnt aware of though it makes sense. This isnt specific to this sensor panel - its any "monitor" you connect. I run dual screens with this sensor panel being my 3rd. When my screens go to sleep and I wake them up, sometimes an application I had running on my main monitor winds up on this tiny display. Its easy enough to just move it across to where it needs to be but if you have Aida64 set to always be on top you may not know your missing window is hidden behind the sensor panel on the tiny screen trying to figure out where your app is. Just a heads up. A minor thing IMO and again not anything with this panel in general just something that happens with multiple monitors. I dont have this issue with duals - the apps stay on the screen I left them on but for whatever reason they sometimes end up on this display after waking up my monitors. I do have them all on the same card (RTX3080Ti). Worth the money IMO for a sensor panel. ... show more

My buddy and I both have used this little screen to upgrade our PC builds. I've always wanted something to help display sensor read out for my PC and this is perfect for that. I have windows 11 and it was plug and play. You'll want to buy stand offs (size: M2.5), screws (size: M2.5) for the install and a thin HDMI cable to help with cable management. I built a bracket with a lift hinge so that I can adjust it and remove it if I needed. Works great, if it ever fails randomly then I'll redo this review but prolly buy another one because they aren't that expensive (comparative to how expensive PC parts are now a day) ... show more

Decent display. Slightly lower cost among available 7" hdmi displays. I like the layout of putting the ports in the middle of the pcb on the back, so they are not sticking out the sides. Plenty bright but i don't find good color contrast especially on dark colors. Black is black, but showing gray or blue on top of black, such as in a console, is difficult to distinguish unless fonts are large. I usually like dark themed desktops but on this display, it is better to use the light themes as there's not enough contrast with dark colors and borders. 1024x600 is better than the Pi Foundation display which is 800x480. However, the 1024x600 is bit odd ratio wise, my pi would always try to set 1024x768, which the display accepts but obviously with weird scaling, thus the fonts are not crisp. I had to create X11 config file (see below) for the Manjaro distro I am using. This file works to force the resolution on the hdmi port (closest to the usb-c power connector, this is hdmi0 on the board, but hdmi-1 in X11). The media could not be loaded. Works well so far. Has HDMI connectivity and micro usb for power. You’ll have to turn on the monitor with the on/off switch on the back. You’ll need m2.5 screws for the stand offs behind the monitor to be able to mount it. My only dislike is that whenever you put the PC to sleep (or shut it down), the monitor stays on unless you disconnect the USB. You can mitigate this issue when shutting down by going to your motherboard bios and disabling USB power when shutting down, but not for a sleep PC. I’ve tried everything I could to get the monitor to completely turn off while the PC is asleep, but I couldn’t figure it out. The only way is to shut down your PC, disconnect the USB, or flip the on/off switch on the back (which you can’t reach once it’s mounted in your case). But other than that, it’s not a deal breaker since I usually just shut down my PC anyway. But if you like to keep your PC on and just keep it asleep, you’ll have to reach for the back of your PC and disconnect the USB every time. Like I said, not a dealbreaker. Overall, great purchase. I initially purchased this screen for an in-case sensor display. The short HDMI and USB cables made that work pretty well, but I had a hard time fitting due to the stand-off pegs on the back of this display. After altering my fan configuration, I just couldn't find a good way to get this thing mounted in the case, so I ended up using it on the desktop for the same purpose. There seems to be no cases available commercially for this screen (or at least I couldn't find one) so I had to design and print a stand for it that looked better than the little stand it came with (which I hate). The screen seems to work ok, though I do not have the touchscreen enabled (not needed). My primary gripe is that whenever I have this screen plugged in via HDMI to my computer, I get random screen resets on my other monitors - this is being driven by an RTX 3070. I have no issues with my monitors when this screen is unplugged, so I feel like there is some conflict that this screen causes. Having had this experience, I cannot really recommend this screen because it is a major annoyance that I wouldn't wish on anyone. ... show more
