I bought this for a battery trickle charger, where the current in the wires is very low. The extension cable wires are pretty small, which makes it easier to handle, but should not be used for high current.

Generally, 16 AWG is too thin for automotive applications, but I purchased this 3ft cable to tender a small battery on emergency generator with 1 Amp charger. For this purpose, it should be fine and works well.
